There’s poorer places than Madagascar…. Mada is rich culturally and people are still happy. There’s many good things besides the finances. But has potential I feel
I think a contributing factor as to why poor countries remain poor is because of foreign aid. Why bother improving when rich countries give you money annually? The best way to help these poor countries is by cutting off foreign aid and let them figure it out themselves how to actually make money.
I travelled to Madagascar 16 years ago. The people are friendly, and I never felt unsafe in Tana. Madagascar does have some of the worst poverty I’ve seen anywhere in the world. Madagascar is very rich in terms of natural resources, eg precious gems and minerals, but it’s corrupt government and international corporations that are making all the money.

Why do u only go to the poorest areas of a country? Not judging but it's rare to see u go to middle class neighborhoods. I follow a few Madagascar RUclipsrs and they live in average-size houses with their parents and the neighborhoods don't look nearly as destitute as where u was at. That's like u going to the U.S but only decided to visit small towns in West Virginia and Mississippi instead of Boston or NYC. It's good to see the poverty side but show all aspects of a country. The ugly, bad, good, and amazing parts.
Sometimes these sort of videos can help destitute areas or individual businesses, it can bring awareness, etc. it’s not all just slum touring for fun. He’s run charities for people before as well that he’s met this way. All content made for RUclips has a branding of some kind. The people living in the wealthier areas have their own brand too. While it’s important to cover all facets of life in a country, it’s kind of on the onus of the viewer to do that research themselves imo. Indigo Traveller goes to poorer areas and shines light on them as his “brand.” Other RUclipsrs show the glitz and ritz. The fancy YTbers probably never go to the more run down areas, even if there’s good food. If that sounds cynical, it kind of is. I don’t think it’s as malicious or exploitative as it sounds. Some people get happy about showing off the good, some people think it’s their duty to show the less-well off to give them a voice. Sometimes brands just happen because of that. IT seems like a good dude, so I don’t think he’s doing this for exploitative content. I’ve seen some people on YT who definitely are and they don’t get real and involved with people like he does.
@@tisvana18 Yeah I seen alot of YTbers being exploitative to these poverty stricken areas and I like Indigo, sometimes it feels just as exploitive. Poverty porn as they call it. By mostly only showing these poor areas, it reinforces the idea that countries in Africa and South America are entire hell holes and U.S and European countries are the only "civilized" countries. Hell, so many people in the U.S still believe that most people in Africa still live in huts with no running water because all they see is missionaries and news networks focusing only on small villages on the far outskirts of cities. Make no mistake, I do like the awareness. One example was his Nigeria videos and the people there basically living in treehouses on top of a sewage-filled river. I have friends that was born and raised in Nigeria (currently still do) and I showed them Indigo's videos. My friends are poor...REALLY poor. Like sometimes have to skip meals and trouble . But despite being so poor, they and their family and friends at least live in modern-looking apartments with electricity and running water. They were absolutely shocked that people in their own country let alone their own city could be doing even worse than them.

Random FYI. The puppy @17:52 is probably 6+ weeks old. Puppies are born with their eyes closed, they don’t open until ~2 weeks. They start walking around ~3 weeks. It takes a few more weeks before they can walk, play, explore confidently.
@11235but yeah it's basically poverty porn
@@kevintyson1947 people actually enjoy watching this? I get disgusted that people have the motivation to procreate in these slums.
An Indigo Traveller upload is a great birthday gift!
Happy birthday 🎂

glad to watch a new series of videos, your focus is always to show to your viewers all the sides of a country and that´s fascinating and appreciated
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Too much focus on the slum area, sadly every 3rd world city has its slums, so could be anywhere - be nice to see a more balanced view of life in Madagascar.
It says day 1.
@@ElevateYourMindDailyI was waiting on Mongolia day 2 and never got it
Nick, it's good to see you again. I've been watching you for longer than almost anyone on the Tube❤ I worry about you a lot in some of these places. Haiti was the worst.
I hope your health is all good now. Please be extra careful 🙏
