Kansas was ranked as high as 2. Todd Reesing started 3 years at Kansas and ended up throwing for over 11,000 yards and 90 touchdowns. On the last weekend of the regular season, 2 Kansas played 3 Missouri and lost. If they had won, they would’ve played OU with a win sending them to the BCS championship. Missouri only lost twice that year (both times to OU).

So I was at this game. I was 14 but I remember it like yesterday. After the game, my step dad and I had about 3 miles to walk back to our truck. People were so mad, smashing bottles and cursing. I was terrified. I remember hearing a man say "if we had gotten rich-rod instead of saban we wouldn't lose that game" which is hilarious in hindsight. The entire 8 hour ride home to Knoxville, my step dad didn't say a single freaking word. It was a horrific experience 10/10 would not recommend.

I was there. Prior to the game, I made the half-serious comment that I wouldn’t be surprised if we lost because Saban would use it as a learning tool to reach the most stubborn/lazy players. 2 years later we won a championship. Before he won a championship at LSU, he lost a game in Baton Rouge to UAB (2000). 3 years later, they won a championship.

He didn't have time to talk about them. When he moved to Alabama. He had recruited some players from Monroe. A couple were found in a local park with dope and a stolen gun. His only comment was the cops had to be LSU fans. Classy guy.

I still miss the days of when Southern Miss, my favorite team, had that ruthless defense they always had (called The Nasty Bunch) that I can remember growing up and being a fan. And boy did that name ring true to who they were and how they played. And honestly they have had some huge stars on that defense that ended up making it to the league, which some I think are still in the league, like Nunes-Roches for the Bucs. But man they had some big names on defense thru the years, even those that didn’t make it to the league, but yeah names like Patrick Surtain, Adailius Thomas, Michael Boley, Dylan Bradley, Rakeem Nunes-Roches, Kalan Reed (who sadly didn’t get to play really after suffering a horrible injury after being drafted as “Mr Irrelevant”, Cornell Armstrong, one of the best corners amd return men ever for the team John Eubanks(one who I believe should have played in the league, that I’m not sure if he did), etc. And don’t even get me started on the offensive players like Favre, Jalen Richard, Ito Smith, Todd Pinkston (who I loved growing up, but was admittedly just scared to get hit), Mike Thomas, ( 1 of my fav QBs that I wish would have gotten a chance to actually have the reigns for a whole season) Austin Davis, Nick Mullens, Tim Jones, etc.
Ik this is kinda irrelevant to the video, but what I was gonna say is I miss the days of the physical defense and talented players in offense from back then when I was growing up, where when we played teams like Bama, FSU, Auburn, etc, that we never just got straight up blown out and always kept the game close if not won. But now it’s so hard to compete with these teams when you’re in the worst conference in the whole of the NCAA, C-USA. Nut I’m hoping the move to the SunBelt, though it isn’t a great conference, but better than CUSA, will help us in recruiting and everything else. I really wish they would have just said forget these conferences and just went Independent and not even bothered with another conference unless it was like the AAC or sum maybe, cause then we would be able to control our schedule more amongst other things. Anyway, it is nice being able to see a team like ULM get a win over Bama, though today they wouldn’t even have a chance at keeping it close lol. But I am glad we went to the SunBelt cause all of the teams in it are all close to each other which will make for bigger crowds even at away games, unlike the CUSA where they’re all spread out to Texas, North Carolina, etc.
Anyway sorry for my rambling bs lol, Ik this is super long and just me rambling about my favorite team haha, but seeing how far we have fallen since basically the 2009-2010 season when we won the conference. But to me, it all started when that DA coach Fedora decided to go okay Nevada in the freaking Hawaii Bowl instead of the one we deserved to play in and get a chance to play and beat a team like Penny State, who ended up playing Houston, the team we beat to win the conference. I still look back and say that was a mistake and that we should have played Penn State, but ig since he was leaving for NC and he dc one bit about helping the team as far as a chance to beat a big team and more money for the university by playing in s bigger bowl, ig he chose to get him a free vacation smh. Which he claimed it was cause “these guys won’t probably ever have a chance to go to a place like this again” bs he said was the reasoning. But if you ask me, it would’ve been even better to go and try and beat a team like Penn State, especially with the squad we had that year. But thats why I hate letting the coach have power like that, especially when we know he I leaving the team the next year.

@1:22 idk about that, it looked like he got into the end zone and scored there to me. But it doesn’t surprise me the refs called him down and didn’t give him the score, but who knows, maybe if somehow he scored there maybe the game didn’t go the same as we know it did and maybe they end up losing somehow. I mean I doubt it, but you never know lmao. But man this was a good game. I will say though that this is how most teams, especially not in the SEC best Bama is by doing great in defense, forcing turnovers, and scoring either on those turnovers or by taking advantage of the turnovers and good field position. I’m sure this one was one of, if not the biggest wins in ULM history lol. Though If I’m not mistaken this was one of the only down years Bama had since Sagan took over, other than the year they lost to Utah in the bowl game. Unless this was that same year, which I’m almost positive that was like 09 or so.

Jesse Mcgee still not half the team.
Let’s completely over look the fact that the players that were in this game (mostly juniors and seniors) were gone before 2010. This includes second string which still majority juniors with a few seniors.
They had nothing to do with 2010.
Giving credit to this team is just as messed up as people giving Tim Tebow credit for Chris Leaks national championship.

Jesse Mcgee yea the first stringers and some second string are the team. Being on the roster and being on the team are two different things.
Getting on the roster is easier. Being a starter on the team is much harder.
Bama got a diamond when saban came in that’s for sure! Guarantee a lot of programs wish they would have pursued him more. Failing in the nfl didn’t help him though. Then again coaching in college is different than the nfl.
College you are around them players every day. The NFL players don’t have a campus to stay on or anyone to baby sit them. Players have more leverage in the nfl making it hard for a hard nosed keep to the standard coaches like nick saban.
