  • Here is a little video showing my latest mr2 build. I have owned the red Mr2 for a few years and it had sat in the corner of my drive until last september when i decided to give it some love and turn it into a special car.
    In this video, we follow the exciting journey of building a 450BHP Toyota MR2 with a K20 GT3582R Pulsar Turbo Swap. From stripping the car down to its bare bones and preparing the engine for the swap, to installing the turbocharger and tuning the car for maximum performance,
    You'll see the parts used in the build, and the various modifications done to the car to support the power increase.

    Man, lemme tell you this is an inspiration. I’m in the middle of k swapping my mr2 and I know first hand how much work it is. But what I’m really impressed is with the way you went about doing it and it’s how I was envisioning doing mine. First, I like how you opted to keep a traditional cluster rather than a screen. And more than that I love how you didn’t hack TF out of the trunk to route the turbo or cut up the engine lid to run the exhaust from the top. From what I can see you went with an air to water setup? It’s great how you left the trunk in tact and usable I REALLY like that and it’s what I want to do as well! Amazing build!

      Thankyou Jerry, thats a very kind comment. all i can say is, you won't regret it. the swap works so well with the mr2 chassis. it makes the car feel lighter and more nimble. if you ever need to know what parts I used for the air to water setup I'm happy to help. I have done a video with a more in depth look at my engine bay which shows the setup a bit better.

      @@G9RGE btw, you opted to use the stock fuel tank, what fuel pump did you decide to use and would you recommend it?

    • @dylan4972
      @dylan4972 Год назад +1

      Hell no I have a screen and I'll never go back, much better than having gauges all over the place trying to show data, especially if you are getting up there in power. One spot to see all your information easy, another better than that.

      @@dylan4972 I do agree, having a stock cluster along with the honda clocks just gave it that oem feel. Most people would never even notice mine was a kswap 🙂.

    Beautiful thing there. I would rather have that than a new car. May I ask, how much did this cost you?

    • @G9RGE
      @G9RGE  Год назад

      Thankyou for your nice comment. It's definitely a labour of love. I'm actually in the middle of making a video on the costs involved in doing the swap. If the k20 swap was kept as an NA then it would have been alot cheaper but it hasn't cost as much as most people would think. Keep an eye on the channel for more details on the engine and the costs to do the swap

    Amazing achievement!!! What program and hardware did you use to get the screen display all the cars info ?

    • @G9RGE
      @G9RGE  Год назад +2

      Thankyou for you comment. So the screen is a Samsung A7 lite. I had to cut the inner bezel if the dash surround for it to fit but it fills the gap nicely.
      The ECU I have is a Kpro v4 and it has a Bluetooth output. The tab runs an app called Hondata and displays all of the ECU data. Hope that helps

    I would love to know how you made that cluster in order to fit in the mr2 dash. Also, are those 16 or 17” wheels?

    • @G9RGE
      @G9RGE  2 месяца назад +1

      @droboyjr I had a spare mr2 cluster so managed to hollow it out and make the honda one fit.
      The wheels are rays mazda speeds. 17x8 and 17x9 j with 255s on the rear

    lovely build mate!! like jerry said inspirational! im in the process of doing a K swap.. how did you get the cluster to work, I hear something about needing a rev 3 clutster?

    • @G9RGE
      @G9RGE  Год назад

      Hi Darrel, thanks for the nice comments. I did away with the mr2 cluster and fitted a Honda Civic type R cluster instead. the only thing that doesn't work is the water temp gauge but I have a tab running Hondata so it doesn't really bother me

      Hi Ian, the wheels are 17in and 8j and 9j Rays mazda speed. Unsure of exact offset but i think they are around Et35. I run 255/40 17s on the rea and 215/40/17s on the front, they are yokohama Ad08rs and have a very square edge to them.
      Hope that helps
