Okay hear me out….getting interrupted by kids is my life with 3 littles. I have been loving how candid you are with “mom life”. It makes me confident in getting projects or declutters done because I can always take time for the kiddos and come back to it. Thank you for normalizing this for moms like me🥰

It doesn't sound weird at all! I have to shop for clothes/bras that don't flare up my nerve damage in my neck. Clothing is a main cause for my flare ups. Good for you for figuring out what works for you!

Okay idea here- if only we could all do a closet declutter and see who wears the same sizes as us and ship it to them for free, like a cookie swap but with our closets.

Well, since you’re talking about your tummy issues, NO you’re not alone girl. I’ve suffered from Crohn’s disease my entire adult life (I’m now 55), and I feel you so much here. I also used to be terribly embarrassed by it, but it is what it is. I am also only 5’ tall, and it is so hard to shop for tiny people to begin with, but add tummy issues with that, and needing comfort as well, it throws a whole ‘nother booger in the mix.
My husband and I are parents/caregivers of our 28 y.o. Special needs son, and we’re just now at the beginning of our minimalist journey-31 years together, so much stuff🤦🏻‍♀️Your videos have been so encouraging. May the good lord bless you and your precious little family. Keep up the good work. Btw-we said yesterday while watching your videos, to be so young, you 2 have really got it together way more than you realize, and again, so encouraging to others. Be blessed! 💜🙏💜

That is how I build my capsule wardrobes for the different seasons. Like pretending I am going away for two weeks and packing accordingly with all my favorites for the season. So much easier to get everything I need and that I will actually use that way. Greetings from Norway 🇳🇴 🍁

You inspired me to do a massive declutter of my closet earlier this year, and I got rid of about half of my clothes! I still felt like I had too many clothes in my closet but was getting to the point where I was afraid I would regret getting rid of certain pieces, so what I did is decluttered even more but stored them in my dresser. Since downsizing I was able to hang all the clothes I normally wear in my closet and no longer needed the space in my dresser. A few months later, realized that I only went back to pull out about 3 pieces, so felt better about actually getting rid of the rest now :)

I can’t imagine the pain you’ve gone through/are currently experiencing with abdominal migraines. I’ve dealt with stomach aches my entire life and it got to the point where I’d have daily pains that would last hours 😭 it was embarrassing because my flare ups would happen before work and I’d be embarrassed to tell my managers why I was late so often. i don’t fully understand the science behind why, but I went to a gonstead chiropractor for neck pain and my stomach aches went away (they’ve been gone for 4 weeks) ever since my first full body adjustment. (From my understanding, your GI is near the spine which is important for your central nervous system, so when that gets adjusted, it can positively affect the surrounding areas). It has been such a relief for me that I hope and pray you will find something that works for you to take away the pain ♥️

I decluttered too much last year and actually had to fill in the gaps in my wardrobe 😳 but I can say I’m at a very happy place with the cohesion and flow of my choices, what I have and how seamless my fall wardrobe slides into my summer wardrobe. In the Midwest we still have some warm weather, so I can slide on a cardigan over tees for now and I like to layer anyway so my whole wardrobe sticks around for the winter. Worked hard to find the right pieces but I’m excited I no longer have to buy again!

Bless your heart with your health. I have a 10lb weight flux with GI health issues. Periods of fasting for healing & relief. Trying to slay some SIBO right now and working on how much i can eat per day. Ketosis eradicated my migraines so I hope you find something that helps you. Those are so difficult. May the Lord lead you and bring you wisdom and healing.
You inspired me to go thru my clothes again. I like clothes that I can wear thru my weight fluctuations, bloat, and leg edema flares. Been getting rid of items that dont work when I’m in a flare. Its just more peaceful. 🤗
God is healing us everyday. Thank You Lord. 💕

This is my second year off at college. Last year I brought literally anything I could think of bc I thought I might need it. This year I only brought clothes that a wear on a regular basis and only the essentials. My life has been so much less stressful with less stuff to deal with, and I'm lucky enough that I am financially stable enough (thanks mom and dad) that if I discover I really need something I didn't bring with I can go buy it.

I got hooked on online shopping because of the boredom and isolation of lockdown. I’m still limiting my outings to necessities, since February 1, 2020. I need to do a big wardrobe declutter of the older items. I also had a big weight loss and style change in 2019, so the older stuff must go. I need inspiration to get moving on this before clothes take over my house!

I support your sharing of health issues. You are an inspiration to us who stay positive when there are reasons to go negative. I, myself, have spinal issues that dictate SOOOOO much of my clothing and even hairstyle choices. It is good to know everyone struggles. It is even more of a blessing to know that others make the choice daily (or several times a day) to not be sad, but focus on what we have and make life simple and purposeful and happy!!!
    God Bless!

Petite maxi advice- I bought a stretchy maternity maxi while pregnant and still wear it now two years later. I had to have the front hemmed just a touch after my bump was gone. It's so comfy and doesn't hug my curves too much. I think the brand is motherhood maternity.

Natalie, what you said about health and pain management really hit home for me. I have joint & muscles problems which mean that I have to (among other things) wear flat ‘barefoot’ shoes which most of the time are pretty ugly 😨 and being a reformed shoe fiend, I have been beating myself up for buying different winter boots and then having to resell them if they don’t fit right.. Point is, you’ve reminded me that my health and intentional living should not be in conflict, if I need to try different things to keep myself as pain free as possible it’s OK! I also live on the north west Atlantic coast in the UK and several pairs of really good boots are a must for most of the year ⛈⛈⛈ Thanks for the reminder to be gentle with myself, your channel is one of my above faves! 💕😘

Your last deeper declutter related to health fit and triggers got me moving thank you! Same as you I just did fall switchover ( Canada beautiful fall imminently snowy). I think your sharing your process and health clothing needs helped me support my own. This fall changeover was so quick! And yes being in my 60’s now I used to wear those jordaches and had no hips (styles of the 70’s and lasted a long time). It’s the era.

I am also just 5’ and am curvy so it’s hard to feel good in so many of my clothes. I’m going to declutter using this method so I’m left with the stuff I love to wear. The women's section of Patagonia has a jacket like that, it's called the "fjord insulated flannel" I think. I love mine, I have the gray one. They actually have them on their web deal section last I knew for a bit of a discount. They are like light jackets/heavier sweatshirts. They might be similar to the mens jacket if thats what you are looking for.

I've seen you declutter your closet many times, but this time giving the explanation with your specific health issues makes it easier to see why you have had to constantly try new clothing pieces and declutter them out so soon after buying them.
This has made me want to go through my wardrobe again. There's a lot I hung on to buy did not reach for or found uncomfortable the last time I wore it. I'm going to attempt to get down to 30 or so items too. I won't count jackets and probably not shoes. But there are several shoes I wear 1 or 2 times a year (or being honest, once every couple of years) that I've been hanging on to. I'm going to find alternatives that I can use more often and get rid of several shoes. I am going to give those rothys a try!

I do a combined fall and winter wardrobe together. I live in Canada so I have clothes for all 4 seasons...hard to be minimal but I keep what I need, use and love.
As for my clothes declutter...it's more end of season when I'm swapping over. If it's not worn at all in spring/summer it's donated or given to family/friends.
I think my capsule for the season is done at the end 🤔 what's left behind is what I will use the following year.

I have trouble with a lot of clothes with my stomach hurting too. Can you do a video explaining more about abdominal migraines and how you knew that was the issue?

Great video, highly relevant for myself as I'm moving. I'm trying to capsule my whole wardrobe as a whole, and I realise that my biggest challenge is reducing my summer stuff. Summers can be as cold as fall in Norway sometimes, so my goal is to have a wardrobe that is very fluid across the season. I'll keep tops one drawer for seasonal sweaters/summer tops and shorts and then reduce hard in my dress selection. Many pretty dresses that don't fit that I've never used..

Yep on the stretchy waistbands! Chrons here. I pretty much live in mens largest size possible tees aka dress on me.
And maxi dresses to avoid any pain ever underwear bands are too much majority of the time.
The pants i do wear are very thin oversized linen pants similar to yours that sit at my lower rib/grandpa high waist level so that i dont die. So i either look really cute really feminine and traditional or really chill safari/hippy vibes 😂 which i love.

I going to try this reverse method. I saw Dawn do it, but now I’m doing the wardrobe switch and figure it was the best time to build that capsule.

I also have gone through quite a few pant purchases over the past few years due to pain and health issues. It's nice to know I'm not the only "minimalist" who does, but I'm sorry to hear you have migraines!

Thanks for sharing your GI issues! I have never heard about this but have struggled with abdominal pain my entire life with no help in a diagnosis. Flair ups are never consistent with foods and my son now has the same types of issues! I’ve cut gluten and dairy over the years but still flair up. Thank you so much for this insight!

I have a lot of trouble finding pants because of the weird shape I’m in after 4live births and 6pregnancies- (and some diastasis recti issues that are hard to heal and make my belly a weird shape) so I grasp a little of this challenge for you of the pants/shorts etc. My oldest daughter has a lot of physical challenges and medical needs so between her g-j tube, her stiff arms that don’t bend well especially to put on long sleeve shirts, and her wheelchair has side supports and if there are seems there she feels very uncomfortable so I’m learning a lot about what doesn’t work for her too and slowly grasping what works and what brands can handle stains well for her and what fits her body well. Praying for you to be able to have more days (and one day all days) that you can avoid those abdominal migraines.

I have IBS - similar needs to not have pressure on my belly area. Totally makes sense and finding something that doesn’t trigger issues and looks good is well worth some extra purchases.
