Good point on ignoring the mess when decluttering - the mess is actually the items that we are currently using! The hidden unworn, unused stuff is what needs to be dug out and moved along to those in need (or to the bin) right?
I love all your tips, they are so useful! Due to my depression I had abandoned my housekeeping chores but, thanks to your videos and little by little, I have decluttered my home and now I live more peacefully. Your videos motivate me a lot! #PremiereFam
I am so enjoying these de-cluttering, organizing playlists that Dawn decided to have you RUclipsrs join her in doing. I'm an older (75 years) lady who has lived here in this house for 52 years...having raised our 4 children here. Believe me...I am in the process of de-cluttering and reorganizing everything. I watched this video on my computer in my craft studio. I had to giggle because in the last couple of minutes of your video, you asked "Alexa...how many minutes do I have left on my timer?" And my Alexa in the next room told me she didn't have a timer set!! Lol. Had to laugh out loud. Thanks for doing this video. Even though most of you in this wonderful playlist thing are young and with young children, your ideas and thoughts have impacted many of my decisions. I realize that my 4 adult kids...all married with children and grandchildren of their own...DO NOT want MY stuff!!! So I'm donating it or throwing it. I have decided after listening to the input of ALL of you, that I cannot have guilty feelings about getting rid of stuff...nor can I let memories linger while storing all this stuff. I'm taking pictures and then getting rid. All of my kids own their own homes which are much larger than mine and have no problem getting rid of their own stuff!!! None of them have much clutter. (Well...perhaps a garage or two!!) And I have several grandchildren who own their homes and some of them have asked me about these YT videos that I'm watching. Some of them have no clutter and a few have a lot of it. So, the domino effect is taking place when they come to visit and see what I've done. Again...thanks so much for taking the time to share all of this with us. EDITED TO ADD: I know I've rambled a bit, but I wanted to let you know the freedom I'm feeling from doing all of this. I have a craft studio upstairs here and a sewing room downstairs. I make cards, scrapbooks, albums, and do vinyl and sublimation projects and lots and lots of sewing projects. I have had so little motivation because I'm overwhelmed with the clutter accumulating here and there. Now that I've begun to declutter, I feel so liberated and creative. Before, I felt guilty if I took time to create while there was so much STUFF taking unnecessary space. It seemed to clutter not only physical space but mental space also. Thanks again!!
Ignore the mess, don’t clean, don’t organize, progress over perfection, setting a timer... I need to plaster these words on my wall!!! Thank you for your very encouraging and uplifting way of teaching the art of decluttering!
A great way to get out oil stains on laundry (even if they've already been washed and dried!) is to use a dab of dish soap on the spot and then top it with a little bit of baking soda. Rub the two into the spot just enough to mix them, then let them sit until you're ready to launder - I've done anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of days. It works like a charm!
I’ve spent decades organising my clutter. Your messy to minimal series made me realise I’m a hoarder and I’m now decluttering and starting to feel that freedom. Thank you Natalie!
I’m moving from a 1500 sq. ft. home into a 560 sq.ft. apartment and your videos are helping me get rid of the things I don’t need so I can feel good and relaxed in my new home. Thank you so much for your inspiration, information, and motivation!!
Ignore the mess is such a good tip. I’m guilty of saying “When the house is clean” so thank you. You’re right! My house is always going to look “lived in” especially now cuz we’re always home lol 👍🏽
To declutter ones entire house in one hour means you must have a lot less to go through than ever before. Congrats on your journey. Minimalsm is awesome.
These videos always prompt me to do a 5 minute declutter. I now am finally letting go of some new makeup I will never use and all those little hair dryer attachments that I was keeping only because they came with the dryer. Your comment about not being afraid to break up a set was thr clincher on getting rid of those attachments.
I really like your idea of natural timers. I also listen to podcasts while cleaning but hadn't thought to use them as a timer--that's such a good idea! My biggest "problem" is on the weekends when I want to go through my cleaning routine, I end up getting carried away and spending hours cleaning. I enjoy it in the moment but come the next weekend, I'm thinking to myself "ugh do I really want to spend 5 hours cleaning?" Restricting myself to a time limit seems like a better idea to not burn myself out. 💕
I used to get into this trap too! It made the task so daunting because I knew it would take a ton of time! Setting timers has helped SO much with this along with separating cleaning from organizing and deluttering!
lollll to the garbage / donate pile being your kids' most prized possessions!! I can totally relate!! I'm surprised at how much you decluttered, especially from your kitchen!! You're so motivating!!
That writing board thing with the sliding letters on it, I just decluttered one exactly like that yesterday! Tried to do it before, but that exact same thing happened, it was my daughter’s favorite toy that day when I brought it out 😂
I found myself starting to “ decluttering” my JUNK ROOM and didn’t get to far into it before I started to “think” oh I can CLEAN THIS PART WHERE I STARTED” !!! No No! Susan, what did Natalie say about this.....Yes, I put everything down. Took a five minute break, set my timer and started again!! Had 2 full bags to go to donations, 1 bag of trash ( for the life of me I don’t know how that happened) LOL Thank U!!!I admire U so much and love your channel 😊
I've just come across your channel and I really love your videos and I find them soooo relatable, inspiring and achievable - as well as being realistic and down to earth. Thanks Natalie!
"And I no longer have to manage it." There's the payoff in a nutshell! One hour of your time to save countless hours moving and shifting the stuff you don't want or need--win, win, win.
I've been working on decluttering my room this past week. My mom woke up this morning at 5:30 and she asked me what time it was. I said, "it's 4 hours until a Natalie Bennett video." 😂 #PremiereFam
I completely cleaned/decluttered/organized our bedroom on Saturday! What a great feeling! I’m waiting on an Amazon delivery so that I can do one last little thing. I have found 20 Bath and Body Works candles! 🙈. I’m putting them in a shoe storage bag that will go under the bed. I definitely sleep better now that the room is done!!!
That is a great concept. Declutter. Focus on that and then another day focus on organization or maybe if there is a large home declutter more. Then organized and clean on separate days. What a great idea to accomplish the task that I have been dreading. Declutter. Organize. Clean! Loving this tip.
Impressive amount of stuff you identified for getting rid of! The time pressure seemed to help you. This was certainly the case when my friend told me that she was having a garage sale in an hour for charity and wanted me to see if I had anything to donate. The time pressure combined with my asking myself if I felt 'a hard yes' for something (keep) or a maybe (get rid of it) really helped me get rid of tons of stuff. And I don't regret getting rid of this stuff. It feels good to know that a charity benefited from my discards. Beyond getting rid of stuff, I have been working on my day-to-day habits. My 'mantra' has become: If it only takes a minute to do it, do it now. And I can't believe how 'picked up' my place is now.
Your minimalism series has been such an inspiration to me lately. My husband and I relocated for a job 8 years ago and we are in a very rural area. Trips to the local grocery store are 30-45 minutes depending on the town we pick and Aldi or Sam's trips are almost 2 hours. We've gotten in the habit of buying up a ton of stuff to carry us through till the next trip. Then life happens and you don't use all the stuff you bought but you still get more next trip. Now we have been extra blessed to be moving back home where our kids and grandkids are. In this transition period we are staying with my MIL till our house sells so we have one bedroom for our stuff and a very tiny fridge. But, it's in the city so I can go shopping every day if I need to! 😂 As we are emptying out our house for sale and ultimate final move we have come across so much stuff that we never used and is just now wasted. Honestly, probably a few thousand dollars worth of "things." And food that was buried at the bottom of the deep freeze and turned an awful color. This has been such an eye-opening experience for future spending and buying and your series has been a huge help in what we actually can let go of and not be without. Thank you! ❤
Yeah. I decluttered with Dawn yesterday. It was fun. I love deciding what comes and goes. I get a rush from decluttering. Since working from home I have a bag or box or both in my car (in attached garage) that I I fill as I go...t shirts, dress shoes, potato peeler, etc. all in one go. I fold on top of washer dryer. I’m looking for pantry organization for bulk nuts and dried fruits. It’s a work in progress.
Very good tip. It is so easy to get distracted by little chores that constantly come up when trying to concentrate on decluttering. Staying focused on the decluttering goal is main objective. The housework is always there and can be quickly caught up on after.
I am really enjoying your tips as you go. They are so helpful. And probably most important was the tip that when you are decluttering you are not stopping to clean. I sometimes get bogged down cleaning while decluttering and it takes so much more time. Thank you for sharing today.
Loved this video, as always! I always come away from your videos feeling inspired rather than ashamed that I don't live up to the ideals you chat about. I think you do such a good job of leading by example while giving us gentle nudges in the right direction!
So nice to see more from moms of 3 that are actually my age vs someone who has less or is waaay older than me. You speak my language 🤣🤣😄😄 I have decluttered so much in the past few weeks and I feel like every room I decluttered relieves so much stress for me! It’s also therapeutic for me being I grew up with a mom who struggled with hoarding and still does. (So bad she hasn’t been able to sleep in her own bed since I was 9, and I am now 28!) 💜 thanks for continuing to inspire!
Thank you, Natalie, for doing such a video. You have inspired me to speed decluter for 10 mins in my kids bedroom. You showed me the whole new perspective of decluttering, thank you so much. I also managed to put my dirty laudry in a washing mashine with a timer while listening to your video as well.
😂 i needed to see this reminder to not get caught up organizing in the midst of decluttering. That is definitely my biggest weakness with decluttering. Such a good video!! Probably one is my favorites in your whole series! Honestly!
The tip on do not be afraid to declutter certain items from a set, is such a good one. I remember a few years ago we got a nutribullet like thing and it came with soooo many parts and accessories and we only used like 2 of them, we got rid of the rest, and breathed that same sigh of relief.
I found your channel trough the mega march marathon and by now I watched all of your messy to minimal series. You are such a nice person to listen and watch and such an inspiration. I have a small child as well, but when I see your progress, I just now I am on the right way. Thank you so much.
The last 2 minutes were encouraging for a very pregnant momma of 2 girls. What I declutter now, gives me less to manage later, even thought the kids destroyed the house while I did it. Thank you for the honest Mom talk! 👏🏼💕
What I truly like about this is it just shows how even a small amount of time and staying focused on finding things to be removed really adds up. I don’t have to do a huge declutter session to make progress. This is so doable!
Been doing a lot of decluttering and cleaning and organizing. My kitchen finally looks better and I’m happier being in there. Thanks for helping me get motivated.
Your videos have helped me so much I’m so motivated to get rid of all the junk! Since I have started watching these videos I have gotten rid of or donated 8 huge trash bags of stuff! Thank you for the inspiration and motivation!
Natalie coming through with that motivation for me to declutter this week. I so appreciate her, I'd choose lounging all day if I didn't have her vid to encourage me. 😂 #premierefam
It was astonishing to see how much you got rid of after all the decluttering you've done. It helps me know that I'll have to be vigilant in getting rid of things continually. Thanks for your honesty.
I’m grateful for this video today, I’m home due to side effects from my second covid vaccine (worth it!) but I needed something to keep me company. Love decluttering, Loving the minimalist lifestyle. My mom hangs onto everything so I promised myself I wouldn’t be like that. 😂 thank you, from one Natalie to another!
😂 I found you from the clutter free January and you are my favourite person to watch and listen to while I declutter/tidy/clean and to give me the motivation to get up and do it. I finished my coffee and got up and emptied and refilled my dishwasher, washed up and cleaned the sides and now my kitchen is ready to make lunch for my kids and I feel inspired to sort out and declutter the art/pantry cupboard. Thank you 😊
😂! love your decluttering videos! You have motivated me to go through my own. I’m a mom of 3 as well in a small house so I have definitely needed this! I’m slowly going through your videos as I get to that room. Thanks for all you do!
😂 I'm finding that the decluttering is helping me keep up with the housework easier. But I have found if I tackle one space in a day I have an easier time. I have to reorganize when I declutter. It messes with my anxieties if I don't. 🤦🏻♀️
Awesome! One thing that helps, bring a donation box and trash bag along with you to each area, that way it's ready to go and don't have to handle it twice. Thanks for reminding that decluttering and organizing are two different processes.
Definitely feels good when you're able to declutter. I did a little of that today too. I also need to buy some organizers for two catch-all drawers. We are blessed with tons of storage and places to create extra storage solutions. It's amazing when you realize what you no longer can wear, what you do not actually use and so forth. Spring coming and I'm going to get some stuff done. Lost a tiny bit of weight, and that has caused some clothing to be lose on me and I'm in my 40's and wish to dress my age. I used to find certain things cute, but now I want decent and age appropriate. Much love and God bless you and your family. Thank you for this content. ❤️❤️
Loving this series Natalie! You are an inspiration to so many! I love that you put a time limit on it - speed decluttering 😂I talk about cleaning and decluttering in the "in between moments" because people are always turned off by how much time they THINK they need to reserve to declutter and then they don't do it because they feel intimidated. so setting a start and end time is genius! 10 mins here and there truly adds up!
Natalie. I just want to say, I am so glad that I found you through the Wads. I have been watching you since then and since that time I have decluttered my closets of clothes (7 big black bags to Goodwill) and now I have started paperwork. Let me just say only through D and I already have a bag of shredded paper. I think what you enlighten me the most on that this can be done in chunks. I know the last time I did a major declutter to paperwork was about 5 years ago and have been dreading it since because before I wouldn’t allow just small chunks of time to tackle in smaller batches. It took me about 4 days of a couple hours of work to do the closets but I did a deep dive and I can say loving the end results which is my plan for the paperwork too. I work at home and spend most of my time in my office would love to have it organized for function and a process to keep it that way that isn’t so overwhelming. Again thank you for your inspiration! I am putting it to use.😂
After watching you and Dawn declutter this year I joined you and got my house declutter and now we are getting ready to move and so thankful for that declutter!! Thank you!😘😘😘😘😘
I love love love how real your videos are! I love that you show the mess of "real life" happening - even though you guys have a minimal lifestyle, there's still the day-to-day maintenance that has to keep happening, especially with littles around. Such an encouragement! And -- 😂! Love this series!
Your tip minute at 11:00, I have used that on my own for some time and it helps so much! I love utilizing already set timers or podcasts as motivational time limits for me to get stuff done!
Love that you shared how easy it is to get sidetracked by organizing and cleaning. This is me every time! 😂 Love the idea of a timer. Thank you so much for sharing. ❤
I love your view on kids art from your paper declutter video!!! it has helped us so much! my 6 year old loves your videos and we declutter together a bunch.
😂 this was a great episode! You got rid of a lot of stuff! When we declutter I find it makes it more consious of the things we have left and don’t use, which in turn make you want to declutter even more 😊
Love that u give that extra sheets and towels to animal shelter. Makes my heart happy as i am an animal lover and i have 2 shihtzus that i love dearly. We have done some cleaning and decluttering and sort of going for minimalism as much as we can too. I on the other hand still struggle to declutter some personal items that are just in my bedroom but little by little i let go off of some so i will be able to get there (minimalism that works for me). 😊
I am new to your channel and thanks today for sharing your one hour declutter. I came over from Minimal Mom and I like the idea you shared just declutter no cleaning or organizing. I have come to realize that this is a continual process to stay organized.
Some stuff that's been helpful for me is Ikea box storage shelves like you have and Bino jewelry containers for sorting my jewelry/hairties. I can see it so I use it more.
Not having to manage stuff is great, I have a chronic illness so I dont have the time or energy for clutter! I feel like my home and myself can breathe when its tidy and it's less stress too. I declutter little and often ,love your series :)
😂 Hi Natalie! I’m new to minimalism and to your channel and I’m so glad I’ve found your videos. Thank you for sharing your tips and progress, it has truly been encouraging ❤️
I had to laugh at the orange peels. It is always bananas at my house. Natalie, I love when you said that a decluttering day is NOT a cleaning day. So smart! I always get caught up in cleaning tasks and lose focus.
Thank you so much for the mindset shift! I too tend to want to clean and organize everything while decluttering and then feel like I don’t make much progress and nothing is leaving the house. I will try the one hour declutter tomorrow and see how that goes.
What an inspiration this video was! I did a bunch of my kitchen cabinets! Also I LOVE to see that I’m not the only one who just chucks stuff in the direction it needs to go 🤣🙌 your my kind of person ❤️❤️
Same girl, my desk drawer somehow morphed into my junk drawer. It is where I stuff things for later that go to die, lol. Definitely need to deal with it and get proper dividers to corral items that stay and don't become a heap again.
😂 love your messy to minimal series. I have to confess that ive watched them quite a few times. But i make no apologies for it. I need all the help i can get lol ❤
My home stay organized 95% of the time bc I dont let it look any other way bc organization and having less stuff brings me a peace that I cant give up.I only have one child but bc she is used to how I am she does make a mess or if she does its a small one. My stuff was always organized but I still had alot of stuff. From Dec 2019- until now I have made about 10-12 trips to Goodwill and I love getting rid of things that we no longer use and things that dont bring us joy.
Good point on ignoring the mess when decluttering - the mess is actually the items that we are currently using! The hidden unworn, unused stuff is what needs to be dug out and moved along to those in need (or to the bin) right?
So true!!
100%!!! Clutter is really just stuff you're not using and that is taking up space in places where you could store the stuff you are using.
I love all your tips, they are so useful! Due to my depression I had abandoned my housekeeping chores but, thanks to your videos and little by little, I have decluttered my home and now I live more peacefully. Your videos motivate me a lot! #PremiereFam

Agree! Works like a charm
Thank you!
I rub chalk on grease/oil stains, let it sit for awhile before washing it. Hasn’t failed me yet!
OMG thank you I'm definitely going to try this.
I’ve spent decades organising my clutter. Your messy to minimal series made me realise I’m a hoarder and I’m now decluttering and starting to feel that freedom. Thank you Natalie!
I decluttered the pantry while watching this by making and eating a bag of popcorn 🍿🤣
We are in the process of getting of getting rid 70% plus of what we own AND IT FEELS SO GOOD
It makes such a difference!!!! 💗
I’m moving from a 1500 sq. ft. home into a 560 sq.ft. apartment and your videos are helping me get rid of the things I don’t need so I can feel good and relaxed in my new home. Thank you so much for your inspiration, information, and motivation!!

It has changed my life! ♥️♥️♥️
When you asked Alexa how much time is left, my Alexa responded “you have no timer set”. Now I feel pressure to set one and get busy! 😂
Mine responded as well, with time remaining for dinner in slow cooker...
one time my dog heard "sit" on the TV and sat down! LOL

Suddenly they’re obsessed with things that they literally trashed the day before! 😆
My two faves supporting each other love it! #bringeachotherupnotdown
Same!!!! Love you both. Your both amazing, inspiring women!!!!!
That writing board thing with the sliding letters on it, I just decluttered one exactly like that yesterday! Tried to do it before, but that exact same thing happened, it was my daughter’s favorite toy that day when I brought it out 😂

Lol just did a 5 minute look thru my fridge..got rid of some condiments and happily for my husband found a stashed candy bar ...
Idk what it is about you but your videos make me almost happy and excited about decluttering. I’m so glad you make these!

Yay! I'm so glad it resonated with you! Thanks for watching, Melissa!
I love your tip on not having to keep everything in the set especially with toys and things.
I don’t think you realize how motivating your videos are for me. Especially on a Monday. Much needed. Bless you, Natalie! ❤️
I’m having my second baby next Monday and this video just put me into full nesting mode 💕
Nesting is what brought me here. I am only 16 weeks though. I might drive my husband mad during the next many weeks. Glad he likes minimalism too.
Natalie coming through with that motivation for me to declutter this week. I so appreciate her, I'd choose lounging all day if I didn't have her vid to encourage me. 😂 #premierefam
Emily! I'm so glad you're here! Thanks for watching! ♥️
Thank you 😊
Kitchen and kids closets/rooms for sure! Everyday.
😂! love your decluttering videos! You have motivated me to go through my own. I’m a mom of 3 as well in a small house so I have definitely needed this! I’m slowly going through your videos as I get to that room. Thanks for all you do!
I have been decluttering since last March and can not believe how many layers I have been through, and I feel so good.
Thanks for reminding that decluttering and organizing are two different processes.
nothing like your videos to get me motiviated. been meaning to declutter the top shelf in my pantry and actually did it. Thank you
Love it 😍 thank you for the idea of using timers ⏱ and challenging ourselves to complete a task.
I know im late to this party, but the fact that you and dawn collab makes me so happy!!
Thank you!😘😘😘😘😘
Watching and rewatching your videos. Seriously they have been such a blessing. I hope you get credit fir every time I rewatch!
I'm usually pretty good at decluttering, but this is motivation I didn't realize I desperately needed.
Tidy makes me feel so much better when I've less stuff. X
I love love love how real your videos are! I love that you show the mess of "real life" happening - even though you guys have a minimal lifestyle, there's still the day-to-day maintenance that has to keep happening, especially with littles around. Such an encouragement!
And -- 😂! Love this series!
Bed sets: We do two per bed so everyone has a clean swappable at the ready. We were very glad for that when the stomach flu hit our house.
I hope you are ALL well.
Hi u
Your tip minute at 11:00, I have used that on my own for some time and it helps so much! I love utilizing already set timers or podcasts as motivational time limits for me to get stuff done!
Love that you shared how easy it is to get sidetracked by organizing and cleaning. This is me every time! 😂 Love the idea of a timer. Thank you so much for sharing. ❤
I love your view on kids art from your paper declutter video!!! it has helped us so much! my 6 year old loves your videos and we declutter together a bunch.
This is one of my new favorite videos you've done! It helped me get focused and in the zone to declutter and clean!
😂 I am so excited to get started on my mess while watching your newest video! Thank you so much for such great inspiration!!
😂 this was a great episode! You got rid of a lot of stuff! When we declutter I find it makes it more consious of the things we have left and don’t use, which in turn make you want to declutter even more 😊
We so the same with our bedding! We've got 1 double and 3 singles so we have what's on the beds and 1 spare double and 1 spare single :)
Love all your Messy to Minimal series!!! They always motivate me to get stuff done :)
Yessss ma'am! I just ignore the mess and the to do list and purge! I remind myself I can't CLEAN CLUTTER. THANKS
Some stuff that's been helpful for me is Ikea box storage shelves like you have and Bino jewelry containers for sorting my jewelry/hairties. I can see it so I use it more.
I love this! Don’t worry about waiting for a clean house. Fewer items= easier to clean house! Love your jeans too, btw!
You're so welcome! Thanks for watching!
I'm so excited I found your channel!!! This is a year ago but I can't wait to go through your decluter videos!
I love timers too!
I had to laugh at the orange peels. It is always bananas at my house. Natalie, I love when you said that a decluttering day is NOT a cleaning day. So smart! I always get caught up in cleaning tasks and lose focus.
You didn't go with Weston's emoji pick 🤣
I'm literally nesting, so I'm just loving each minimalist video.
Thank you so much for the mindset shift! I too tend to want to clean and organize everything while decluttering and then feel like I don’t make much progress and nothing is leaving the house. I will try the one hour declutter tomorrow and see how that goes.
Love the idea of setting a timer. Definitely need to try this. It seems so much more doable with a timer!
It’s really cool to see how much more you have removed from your house since your older videos where you did your first round of decluttering. X
What an inspiration this video was! I did a bunch of my kitchen cabinets!
Also I LOVE to see that I’m not the only one who just chucks stuff in the direction it needs to go 🤣🙌 your my kind of person ❤️❤️
When you said "let it go" my toddler started singing some Frozen. You're now "Mommy Anna" and I'm loving it. 😂
Awww...
I love how real you are. Great tips thank you 🙏🏼
😂 I have been LOVING this series while packing up my house to move. It's really helped me only take what I really need/love with me!! 💛
I’ve been here since the beginning of your M2M series! I have been loving it 😂
Thank you for the inspiring video and for remembering about animal shelters 🥰
Yeah my favourite type of video !! And the music is so good. Thank you for sharing.
#PremiereFam I can't believe it has been 2 months in 2021 already!
So glad that you're still here on RUclips
Great job. Enjoyed the video. Looking forward to the next one. God Bless you and your family.
😂
I love this series so much. I have watched it through a couple times now. It is so much easier to declutter while listening to your videos
Same girl, my desk drawer somehow morphed into my junk drawer. It is where I stuff things for later that go to die, lol. Definitely need to deal with it and get proper dividers to corral items that stay and don't become a heap again.
I love this series so much. It's so motivational to watch !!
This video was extremely helpful and did inspire me. Thanks you!
😂 love your messy to minimal series. I have to confess that ive watched them quite a few times. But i make no apologies for it. I need all the help i can get lol ❤
Awww thanks for watching them! That means a lot that you'd come back time after time! ♥️♥️♥️
Love your videos!! 🥰 They are my go to when I am getting dinner together.
