The Tone Empire RES-Q plugin combines 4 preamps - Neve, API and a pentode and triode preamp + a very musical EQ into one plugin.

I opened the website as soon as I got the email from Tone Empire about the RES-Q release.
As soon as I saw the overview and demo video and heard the first VOX sound, I bought it.
My DAW is also Logic and the Tone Empire plug-in works perfectly.
The video does not mention the mix control, which is excellent.
If the sound is too far forward when editing, you can balance it out by adjusting the MIX knob to pull the sound back a little.
It feels a little different to the mix knob on a normal effects.
It's definitely a CPU hog (35% avg on Mac M1 Studio). Sounds really good though.
Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully they fix that in a future update. Looks like a really nice channel strip.

yes, too much for my late 2012 iMac...
I noticed you weren't using oversampling mode... Apparently he's released a new update with greatly improved CPU usage.... Thanks for doing the testing... Good to know that the EQ itself is clean... So, this is basically really good preamps (done through machine learning).... But there's not anything making the curves themselves interact with the preamps to give analog nonlinearities to the curves, or anything like that? I guess I'm still not sure how extensive the machine learning was, when it comes to the curves interacting with the preamps themselves.... It sounds really good as a whole.... But yeah definitely... Needs the preamps!
the EQ is placed after the Preamps - so interaction would be little regardless, , even in hardware. I think the EQ itself could have used some mojo instead of being ''just'' clean curves. But then, its handy to have it.
@@whitenoisestudio maybe they tried it but it was too unrealistic on the CPU? I mean the machine learning part of it changes the game quite a bit

Cant remember when Neve used tubes. I believe is something like Emi's tg cause the knobs appearence.
Neve doesnt use tubes. This plugin does Neve, API and Tubes preamp emulation. All seperate.
anti-aliasing free but at the cost of EQ cramping. it can be clearly seen from 5:00 mark.
Open an EQ plugin. Add a very steep lowpass somewhere in the high frequencies. Add another band below it and boost that one. Look at what an analyzer like plugin doctor shows. It's not always cramping.
@@whitenoisestudio it may be bandwidth limiting but eventually very steep LP filter will be resonant and cause ringing plus please check exactly 7:13 mark and see the weird shape and the spike caused by it. It may cause problems
You really can't hear those frecuency and many of good plugin developer make eq cramping in channel strip like plugin alliance and SSL etc.
