    Great rundown. So glad someone has emulated an API. The midrange bump and sheen on API is underrated. Depending on the sound source you're applying it to of course.

    Nice sounding plugin for sure , only thing I would ask them is to add a 1 button bypass on each of the EQ modules, I see u can bypass each individual band but a 1 knob bypass would be great to A/B each module Individually + the full plugin bypass. Great video as Always 👌🏾🔥

      That’s really interesting idea. It’s cool you saw unit as three separate modules. I never saw that until you mentioned it. I saw it as on continuous unit from left to right. But now you’ve said it I can’t unsee it 😂 👌. It’s a good idea and Thankyou bro for the support

    Sound good on almost everything at initials.. but I think there should be a parallel gain compensation adjustment switching modules because the art of wanting to gain stage and filtering in the gradient colour might make new users confuse and not in focus during mixing

    • @WhoIsAlexElliott
      @WhoIsAlexElliott  2 месяца назад +1

      That’s a fact. It’s actually muscle memory for me to just gain match but it would have been good if switching between modules had a little more of a consistent level.

    How about the next one is "Can free plugins sound premium". Please review Chowtape Model by Chowdury DSP. It was some kind of university project that emulates a few vintage Sony tape machines. The amount of control on that piece is phenomenal. The wow and flutter have more control than any other tape emulation out there. I can easily say it's the best tape emulation either paid or free because of its versatility, sound design potential and just overall sound quality. To top it all off I believe it goes all the way up to 16× oversampling. I've never had a problem with it. You can even take the tape speed all the way down to 1.5IPS and the roll off on the highs almost have the underwater effect you get with degrading the sample rate but with a much smoother slope.

      A lot of people sleep on free plugins because they are free. There's a ton of free plugins out there that are extremely useful. Reaplugs comes to mind. A lot of people turn their nose up at them because they're free and not particularly "aesthetic", but they're very good.

    • @WhoIsAlexElliott
      @WhoIsAlexElliott  2 месяца назад +1

      @@ParanormalArson I’ll check those out also. An important point to add when you’re working on paid work. Using free plug ins does not guarantee customer support or new version updates when a new OS comes out, which can deem older projects unable to be opened. So they are extremely risky!

    • @abbadonproductioninc
      @abbadonproductioninc 2 месяца назад

      @@WhoIsAlexElliott that's true. Chowtape is updated when required especially when it comes to bug fixes. I understand your concerns though. I believe Chowdury DSP collaborated with Plugin Alliance on a plugin called ADPTR HYPE when it comes to the Saturation Algorithms together with URSA DSP on the dynamics side of things. I'll send the link to Chowtape

    I’m learning that digital eq is digital eq and the interface is all that changes. The channel strip eq benefits is the choice of eq curves and how these get you to a nice setting quickly. Saturation is different and having a range of different saturation plugins is more important. Good vibe on your review. Thanks.

    • @WhoIsAlexElliott
      @WhoIsAlexElliott  2 месяца назад +2

      Yes has preset EQ curves that emulate the shape of the hardware pieces makes for a really quick workflow. And I agree about a variety of saturation plug ins. I use different ones for different things, but I like having the saturation inside this EQ because it means more often than not I’ll use it over finding another plug in. Speedy workflow. Hope you’ve had a good day though and your well!

      I believe you are referring to the EQ scam video. That is not a totally accurate assessment. Channel strips absolutely create different sounds based on the console they are emulating.

    The oversampling is so good on this..... The recent update fixed some of the cpu issues.... His new tone Empire machine learning plugins sound really good... With the new oversun play mode... But there are the kind of thing you have to commit to in the tracks or you'll end up destroying or CPU trying to put them everywhere. Have you checked out their most recent version of Tape? I really like it

      @@WhoIsAlexElliott TM700 V2 (version 2).... The earlier plugins were pretty good but... This new machine learning group of plugins, since he's out of the complex anti-aliasing routines are a different thing all together... Unfortunately I don't think the tape one has been optimized like the ResEQ one for CPU, yet. The workflow on these things has to be like you're printing. But they have these subtleties... It kind of reminds me of acustica Audio... It Tonex.. The jury still out on whether it's better than those but they seem really good

Which is like animating the convolution audio movie to try to capture a more live audio thing.... Unfortunately machine learning can be harder on CPU.... No need to be afraid of a little digital "printing"... It's very easy in to be saving an unaltered copy anyway.... So it's not really the same kind of stakes as the tape analog days! Now that there's that anti-aliasing mode.... I think Tone empire is really onto something.... As far as very nuanced analog modeling
