About the portal trick, it also works when you only enter one glyph for all, doesnt matter which one, as long as it tells you that the coordinates are corrupted it will always drop you within 5000 ly range of the center (at least it did for me). And as always very informative video, I learned a lot this time around, keep up the good work!

Spent an hour and a half looking for a video just like this yesterday. Found yours and fell in love with how smooth everything felt. Also, there are 2 loops people. The first is a 3 trade route loop. Buy from a trade commodity system and sell to advanced mats system, then buy from advanced mats and sell to scientific, buy from scientific and sell back to trade commodity system. Easy loop right there.
Best NMS guides on YT. Entertaining, informative AND you include playstation controls. Another biggie for me is that you actually use pauses. This makes it so much easier to listen to!
The method I (Ichi the Nomad on PS4) have been using to travel to the center of any galaxy is to find a portal and enter any random character for the first character, followed by all zeros, or the "sunrise over the water" character. The portal will show an error code in red and tell you that it's generated a random location. Go through it an you'll end up 5k from the center of that galaxy.

Great video buddy, imagine loads of players will benefit from the guide. The Galactic map looks great now... I know the letters and numbers mean stuff but I never remember any of that or take much notice of it. Liked your tunes very chilled.
Kind of funny galaxy map story: I had just rolled a new save, so I was basically a newb again with nothing in the way of ships, multitool and no freighter yet, nothing with the letter S. I don't think I even had hyper drive yet. In the time space of about an hour in the starter system, I had stumbled across two graves and so I had two glyphs. This had never happened before in my other saves. I either got all the glyphs doing the Atlas quest line or used Travelers at the space stations to get them. Then about an hour later, again just running around on a planet gathering resources, I stumbled across a portal. I was just curious, so I entered my two glyphs randomly to fill the string, and was surprised to see the portal activate. So still being curious, I jumped in and found myself almost at the center of the galaxy (about six jumps away). =)
Now 300 hours into the game Im now learning what this all means GREAT GUIDE! Now I FINALLY worked out HOW to get the heck outa Euclid galaxy! Another way to jump galaxies WITHOUT getting everything broke was to,d to me by a friend on a forum. Hey Taylor, Great video. Before Expeditions I was thinking of starting a permadeath game, but inspired by Jason Plays and Survival Bob, I wanted to have a theme. So I settled on being a trader. I decided to only make my money by buying and selling. That may eventually lead to buying and selling ships, but initially it will start with collecting enough materials to buy a ship, and then using the left over profits to start trading goods between star systems. I had no idea how I would do this, until now. As always thank you.

Fyi, idk how recently they added it, but if you put the first glyph 12 times into any portal, in any system, it takes you to a random solar system that is 5k away from center.

Subclasses are organized by the numbers and small letters that follow the capital letter. That is why, I guess, the game follows the same logic.
Wow great vid, thanks. Theres so much going on in this game, I never even paid any attention to the cross-system supply/demand. I always wondered why those items that arent used for anything are for sale. I never even considered the idea of being an import/export company. This game just gets more complex the more I learn about it, and theres semingly limitless options for how to work, play and waste time in it.
VERY IMPORTANT.. don't buy and sell on the space stations. You get far better pricing on trading stations on the planets of that system. Scan for trade platforms when you reach the desired destination. You can make much more money for your trouble buy selling and buying this way.
The galaxies are mostly the same, also it does not matter visually in which and where you are in the galaxy. All parts of the galaxy are the same. In Elite and dangerous when you get near the center the star fields do change around you. My favorite game would be a mix between a galaxy like elite and dangerous but planets like nms.
Keep up the good work Taylor. Vids are understandable, informative and always helpful. 500+ hours and still always learn learn something from the info you give. Always recommend your channel to others as well 👍
I really enjoyed your tutorial. You are pleasant to listen to, easy going and had great information. I pretty much knew everything you spoke of until the end. That's why I always watch through a video produced by a smart creator. You will always learn something new! I did not know that ship tech, suit tech and multi tools break after jumping galaxies! I would have been really disappointed if I made that mistake. Thanks for your help 😊👍🏻
What's frustrating is that I've watched so many videos about using the galaxy map, and I still don't know how to plot a route from one system to another if it requires more than one jump. Maybe there's no way to do that, but it seems like there should be. I did get a suggestion to "use way points", but I don't know why, because when I set a way point to a star I want to get to, the game doesn't give me a path from my current location to that star. The only thing I've been able to do is set a way point and then just kind of eyeball its general direction from my current location, then start jumping in what looks like the right direction, hoping I eventually get within jump range to my final destination. Given that there are no videos or even web pages that explain how to do what I want to do, it must not be possible. How could the game lack such a basic function?
keep in mind every ship has a farther warp distance. for example the sentinel ships have about 5x the warp distance of starter ship. if u get warp modules that will extend your distance even further instead of jumping one by one
I think hg implemented a dedicated code for center, its just rising Sun x12, takes you 5k (give or take) away from any center. You're also always greeted with a tonne of comm messages from people who have already travelled through this code, which gives a nice sense of life and community whilst travelling between systems :)
For some reason this vid got promoted over last few days Correction to your Trading bit NEVER buy or sell at the Space Station, always land at a Tradepost, stations will halve your profits both buying and selling
@@isty4491 I highly doubt his comment got hearted because he’s an “ass kisser” lmao. Sounds like it’s all just a big misunderstanding yet here you are with an essay because you got triggered over one person misunderstanding the meaning to your comment and the content creator hearting it lmao. Based on that essay you typed up it just makes you look petty and entitled. You made a good point about not trading at space stations but then you ruined it by throwing a little shit fit.
Ok @WBG, YT is being really weird right now and wont let me read your whole comment, and when i click on the video and come to the comments (as i have now) it is only showing me my 2 comments and not yours or the other guy Anyway, im prepared to see it was nothing more than a misunderstanding, and slightly ashamed to admit i acted hastily, and - while this doesnt excuse it - during a pretty hot day of a heatwave So i definitely couldve written something nicer, and definitely couldve given more benefit of doubt, because i know WBG IS a nice guy and probably above Passive Agression It just angered me that first id been accused of being rude to a channel creator i like. and then my temper ran away I will comeback and try to read your reasoning because it tails off rather tantalisingly with _"This is very easy for a guy w the..."_ Which is a really unfair line break, i now SO want to know how that sentence ends lol But i shall wait to find that, because i have no choice, but i feel i owed an apology for my 2nd comment because i know i lost my rag and should be old enough to know better Fortunately im definitely old enough to admit when im wrong, or have acted in haste
@@isty4491 I struggle a lot with this on social media! I think a lot of people do. At the end of the day you have to ask yourself “do my comments really matter?” No, they don’t. They’re just opinions. Just try to hold off putting anything negative. It’s really hard I know x
I am a long time player but always check videos out just in case I learn something new which I did today :). But even if there is nothing new learnt, your videos are well made and full of great content.
When you have freighters. You can jump to systems and sell from inside the freighter if you have that galaxy terminal. No need to go the the stations. The terminal adapts to the system you are in. I havent gone through the centre, but i have a few bases in 2 galaxies. No idea how that happened.
Depending on what economy you start trading in you could run a 3 or 4 stop loop. Once a loop is established you can just use the teleporters from system to system. Couple this with the "cobalt crashing" and you'll be set in no time. About 15-18 million a stop.
If you get the economy scanner for your ship, you can locate the trade outposts on any planet at the click of a button! Placing save beacons and base computers will help you keep track of locations of interest.
Or you can use the scanner that one of the intro missions makes you use just slap that thing down and it will track structures and settlements and stuff
Sell your stuff to the pilots in the station who land there and not to the station itself. With the sale to the pilots you do not destroy the market price and can make profit over and over again without looking for a new system where the market is still stable!
@@xTWEAKMYSTERo Funny thing is, I already have 88% of the achievements, according to the PS app. So I haven’t explored widely, but I have explored deeply.
For getting to the center you can also just do the first glyph (sunset) for all of them and it will always get you within 1-2 jumps from the center. Hasn't failed me yet.
Great video! I'm planting teleporters at the cores of as many galaxys as I can; currently I'm up to Galaxy number 67. The stuff in this video will help to streamline that effort. Thanks a bunch!!!
@@trentargante8384 im playing currently with only one galaxy and that's Euclid and currently have 100 hours clocked with much more to do. 67 galaxies? Really thats according to my own experience about 6700 hours of progress to have same exploration and progress/grind as my current single save. If you just zoom by them all what's the point? Just want to know why
@@reynaldoponce3422 Per the clock on the saved loads screen I have a 1008.03 hours. And per your logic, why did Hello Games even provide 255 galaxys? I've done and continue to do all the game has to offer, and these 255 galaxys - I want to visit them all. I grow/refine all the resources on my freighter, so no grind there. I've hit my build limit several times and have to go back and delete bases to make room for newer bases. I'm on xbox, and my gamertag is Trentor Z, if you ever want to connect.
is there an easy to way look up different planets in the system too see their mineral ressources? anyone else finding the galaxy map counter-intuitive to 'browse'?
Im late but if a traveler sees this in 2022, you only need to use the 1st glyph. Input the same glyph 12 times and it will also take you to the center because of the auto correct.
This is awesome, thank you! I just started the game so dumb question here: if you build on a planet and then start jumping to other systems, how do you find that planet again?
@@WhiskyBarrelGaming Awesome, thanks again for the info! Your channel may be on the newer side but your content is very professional and presented really well. Keep it up! I just subscribed.
I got lucky as heck last night and found a pink, bubbling paradise planet with no storms, in a blue star system with activated indium hotspots 💛 the perfect planet really is out there lol
No fucking way you can increase the speed when using the galaxy map. I travelled to the centre and most of my time was spend waiting for the map. Bruh I want to die.
Omg this game is deeper than I thought! I’m a fairly intelligent person but I’m totally lost! I like that the game is deep but I’m beginning to feel like I’m doing a PhD and not playing a game! You said the purple text is misleading and then you show us a chart which tells us to sell from green trading planets to purple ones? You bought from Green and you sold to Green??? What am I missing here I’ve watched it several times?
My guess is that at 7:30 you think I'm in a green system. I'm in a blue system here. See the player icon next to the blue star on the left? I'm in a blue system, which is scientific. Remember there are cyan systems (I'm referring to the economy filter on the map) and blue systems. sometimes they look similar depending on the background. when in doubt, just look at the icon. the darker blues are scientific (science flask) and the cyan is technology (microchip). If you buy in a blue system, you should sell in a green system. If you buy products in a green system, you should sell them in a purple system. the chart at 10:40 is 100% accurate. the only way to screw that up is if you don't switch to the economy filter on the galaxy map.
The point I was making with the purple text, is that you should ignore the text color -- as it has zero correlation to the system color you're looking for - it's just a design choice to emphasize how these can be traded for money. As there are purple system colors, it will be correct some of the time.
@@WhiskyBarrelGaming wow thank you for such a detailed reply! I don’t know how you find time and patience to deal with commenters like myself LOL. I think I was on one the other day 🙄
NEVER buy you trade goods from the space station. Always from the trading out posts, Your prices will be 2 to 3 times better. Also there are two trading loops, Green/Purple/Blue, and Orange/Yellow/Cyan/Red.
That's what the 'no filter' button does. It shows star system color by default, but it's just difficult to see because that option doesn't darken the empty space around/behind the system. This makes some system colors difficult to see unless you change perspective.
I like your videos very much. Lots of great info in each... I must be doing something wrong trying to jump from Galaxy to Galaxy. Numerous times I have tried and nothing. So I have now tried your advice.. to the letter (so I believe) and again nothing. It should not be this hard.
Thanks for the galaxy core info. I will use it toget back to Hilbert. I had to reuse and old save because my main save which has bases in three galaxies ran out of build limit. My other save has no bases in Hilbert so I am essentially losing all of those in this save. I can hopefully go back to Hilbert from my current save which has bases in Euclid and Eissentam and add Hilbert to the mix. I suggest people who want to use this quick method to leave Euclid, build a base near the core before leaving. Btw, the color coding isn't very helpful for us colorblind folks. I have selected "Protonopea" in settings for being RED/GREEN colorblind, but I still cannot tell the difference between yellow and green stars. Also when it comes to star systems, whole quadrants may have all of one type of star such as "F" class and no "G" class stars in it and sometimes in adjacent quadrants. So keep track of good systems you visited if you want to set up trade routes and bases in similar systems. I track many metrics of almost all the systems I visit in a database for use later for various reasons. I mark EVERY portal on every planet I visit which is easy since I use the portals to get there. The old way you had to first visit the planet then search for an alien plaque, then monolith, then portal and you needed a specific gift to offer the monolith based on the race.
Been trying to go back to the planets that I've set records in and can't seem to find a way to revisit them. If I set a custom waypoint and show it on the galaxy map, it shows waypoints to completely random systems and then stops, and it's goes up to 600-700 light years away.
I haven’t got any glyphs yet and I keep failing to give them the right answers when I get to the places with portals. So frustrating. I sold all my vykeen effigy’s and gifts not realising I could use them at these portals! I sold them to make space in my inventory which is definitely the most frustrating thing in the entire game! To make things worse I don’t know how to get to the places where I saw the portals because I don’t understand the marker system? Should I create a waypoint by them or build a base or put a save beacon there? Should I stick with it or is this game going to continue to frustrate the living shit outta me throughout?
if you give a wrong answer at the portal, just reload your autosave. that will put you right back to when you got out of your ship by the portal. the tech breaking is honestly not that big of a deal if you have a spare crappy multitool to swap out before the journey.
600 hours into game, never new what those letters were. Great job

I will say is a good video. Very detailed and informative, one of the best out there. Good work.
You can make much more money for your trouble buy selling and buying this way.
wish i knew this sooner :'D
The galaxies are mostly the same, also it does not matter visually in which and where you are in the galaxy. All parts of the galaxy are the same. In Elite and dangerous when you get near the center the star fields do change around you. My favorite game would be a mix between a galaxy like elite and dangerous but planets like nms.
Fantastic as always. Just a breeze to listen to your content man. Very well explained and presented. Thank you very much.
2:30 explanation of the system's information
You’re a G
Love this channel man, straight to the point, concise info. Just made yourself an easy sub mate 👍🏽
I have seen so many NMS videos and this by far has been the most useful. Great Video man!
Great vid ,, best explanation of the galaxy map ive seen, and ive seen a lot. very much appreciated.
Just started another playthrough due to PC upgrades can't wait to try all these tips!
Keep up the good work Taylor. Vids are understandable, informative and always helpful. 500+ hours and still always learn learn something from the info you give. Always recommend your channel to others as well 👍
Extremely helpful. Thanks for posting this!!
Damn, that's a lot of info. I didn't know quite a lot of this before.
Dude this help me tons thank you!
I’m new to this game and I’m amazed by how dope looking your avatars looks
For some reason this vid got promoted over last few days
Correction to your Trading bit
NEVER buy or sell at the Space Station, always land at a Tradepost, stations will halve your profits both buying and selling
Ok @WBG, YT is being really weird right now and wont let me read your whole comment, and when i click on the video and come to the comments (as i have now) it is only showing me my 2 comments and not yours or the other guy
Anyway, im prepared to see it was nothing more than a misunderstanding, and slightly ashamed to admit i acted hastily, and - while this doesnt excuse it - during a pretty hot day of a heatwave
So i definitely couldve written something nicer, and definitely couldve given more benefit of doubt, because i know WBG IS a nice guy and probably above Passive Agression
It just angered me that first id been accused of being rude to a channel creator i like. and then my temper ran away
I will comeback and try to read your reasoning because it tails off rather tantalisingly with
_"This is very easy for a guy w the..."_
Which is a really unfair line break, i now SO want to know how that sentence ends lol
But i shall wait to find that, because i have no choice, but i feel i owed an apology for my 2nd comment because i know i lost my rag and should be old enough to know better
Fortunately im definitely old enough to admit when im wrong, or have acted in haste
@@isty4491 no worries man -all good 👍
@@isty4491 I struggle a lot with this on social media! I think a lot of people do. At the end of the day you have to ask yourself “do my comments really matter?” No, they don’t. They’re just opinions. Just try to hold off putting anything negative.
It’s really hard I know x
So basically nearly everything he’s saying in the video about trading is null and void? Surely not?
I am a long time player but always check videos out just in case I learn something new which I did today :). But even if there is nothing new learnt, your videos are well made and full of great content.
When you have freighters. You can jump to systems and sell from inside the freighter if you have that galaxy terminal. No need to go the the stations. The terminal adapts to the system you are in. I havent gone through the centre, but i have a few bases in 2 galaxies. No idea how that happened.
If you play with friends, you may have warped to their galaxy
Or maybe just like me accidentally by a so called black hole
I always learn something from watching your videos!!!
That’s the idea 😁👌
Excellent video, thanks! I thought i knew what the letters stood for in the descriptions. I was so wrong.
Sucks for me being color-blind, as I have a hard time telling the colors of the systems, except for blue.
you can also just enter the 1st glyph (rising sun) 12 times and get to the center about 5000 ly out.
Omg thank you!
Depending on what economy you start trading in you could run a 3 or 4 stop loop. Once a loop is established you can just use the teleporters from system to system. Couple this with the "cobalt crashing" and you'll be set in no time. About 15-18 million a stop.
Another awesome video. Lots of things I didn’t know.
Great video! Super informative :)
Hey! Just started! How do you map out planets that you are actually on? To keep track of trade posts and bases?
If you get the economy scanner for your ship, you can locate the trade outposts on any planet at the click of a button! Placing save beacons and base computers will help you keep track of locations of interest.
Or you can use the scanner that one of the intro missions makes you use just slap that thing down and it will track structures and settlements and stuff
Dude, thank you. For the love of me, I could not figure out the economy system. Thank you good, sir.
Sell your stuff to the pilots in the station who land there and not to the station itself. With the sale to the pilots you do not destroy the market price and can make profit over and over again without looking for a new system where the market is still stable!
110 hours in and just got my fifth glyph. I guess I don’t use the Galaxy Map nearly as much as most people.
Start exploring!
@@xTWEAKMYSTERo Funny thing is, I already have 88% of the achievements, according to the PS app. So I haven’t explored widely, but I have explored deeply.
New 2 game. This was a lot of help. Thanx!
✌️ thx for watching!
For getting to the center you can also just do the first glyph (sunset) for all of them and it will always get you within 1-2 jumps from the center. Hasn't failed me yet.
Very useful and very well done!
Great video! I'm planting teleporters at the cores of as many galaxys as I can; currently I'm up to Galaxy number 67. The stuff in this video will help to streamline that effort. Thanks a bunch!!!
why tho?
@@reynaldoponce3422 So I can go to any galaxy I like =;0)
@@trentargante8384 why would you need all those galaxies realistically?
Thank you!! Super helpfull after never understanding the galaxy^^
Keep it up
Thank you, it look a journey to a new galaxy to discover an abandoned system. Euclid seems to be full of discovered systems.
Oh wow, this is a great explanation, I am saving this one for sure!
is there an easy to way look up different planets in the system too see their mineral ressources? anyone else finding the galaxy map counter-intuitive to 'browse'?
Yea i'm a new player having problems with quests i picked up and says galaxy map to show quest location?
Im late but if a traveler sees this in 2022, you only need to use the 1st glyph. Input the same glyph 12 times and it will also take you to the center because of the auto correct.
This a bug? Surely this isn’t as much fun??
MUSIC TOO LOUD BUT OTHER THAM THAT IS A SOLID 10/10
This is awesome, thank you! I just started the game so dumb question here: if you build on a planet and then start jumping to other systems, how do you find that planet again?
@@WhiskyBarrelGaming Awesome, thanks again for the info! Your channel may be on the newer side but your content is very professional and presented really well. Keep it up! I just subscribed.
I got lucky as heck last night and found a pink, bubbling paradise planet with no storms, in a blue star system with activated indium hotspots 💛 the perfect planet really is out there lol
Coordinates?
Good stuff. Game this old people forget that a tutorial that's 2 years old is useless. Keep them coming 😜
seems like not many people know this but first glyph only gets you close to the galaxy center
awesome guide , thanks man!
I think I was on one the other day 🙄
Black holes never used to break stuff years before.
I just realized that guy from Res Dogs was Elaine's dad on Seinfeld.
Well I’m colourblind so I can’t see s*** how am I suppose to know where to trade to?
Options > Accessibility > Galaxy Map Color Filter
And: 10:39
Do u really see in black and white and gray?
Maybe a silly question but do you have conflict and economy scanner installed?
NEVER buy you trade goods from the space station. Always from the trading out posts, Your prices will be 2 to 3 times better. Also there are two trading loops, Green/Purple/Blue, and Orange/Yellow/Cyan/Red.
Should add do this method for trading and grab exosuit upgrades. pays for it's way
Wish you could filter by Star System Color!
That's what the 'no filter' button does. It shows star system color by default, but it's just difficult to see because that option doesn't darken the empty space around/behind the system. This makes some system colors difficult to see unless you change perspective.
@@Catastrophuk I think what im talking about, is if you choose yellow systems, all other systems disappear etc etc.
Good video.
I don't have anything more to say except to wish you a merry algorithm :)
Been trying to go back to the planets that I've set records in and can't seem to find a way to revisit them. If I set a custom waypoint and show it on the galaxy map, it shows waypoints to completely random systems and then stops, and it's goes up to 600-700 light years away.
thanks for all the info💯💙 great video Taylor!!!
Thank you, you’re very welcome!
very informative
Thanks so much. It helped a lot.
Appreciate these tips!
@@WhiskyBarrelGaming duh me! Of course! Brilliant thanks once again!
@@WhiskyBarrelGaming unfortunately I can’t have a spare anything as I don’t have enough slots 🤷🏻♀️
