here’s a tip: if you are one jump away from a battle, you can always use the portal to go to the freighter address, use your current freighter to warp to a nearby system (as this won’t trigger a battle), save inside your freighter and take your starship out and warp back to the freighter system. That will trigger the battle without having to setup a base in a nearby system to come back to.
My approach for the coordinate use hunt is to warp to the nearest abandoned system after using the glyph portal, it won't trigger a battle. So I just call my existing freighter or set a base to save and warp back to the previous system into battle.
6 years of off and on play, never cared to replace my A class sentinel freighter. I boot up the game, and all in the same system. I find an S class freighter, the SECOND earth like paradise planet I've ever seen, and a base location that has all 3 resource(energy, gas, mineral) deposits all within building range. 3 star system, no conflict, no storms. The RNG gods finally gave me a break.
Get ready for a long, long, long, looooooong journey. The game starts slow, but stick with it. It's worth it. It's an incredibly fun and relaxed game. The scenery, the music, the overall feel of the game is so chill.
Well, just play the game at your own pace. At some point in the game you will all the sudden be like "bruh! I now know what he was talking about!" Also this is from an older patch, there is no longer general/tech/cargo on ships etc anymore, only tech and cargo slots, so don't take the numbers posted as what they will be.
I've played for 40hrs and now I start to watch a few tips videos and I'm about to start again... I just got a B class System freighter yesterday for free, but had I known this tip before, it could have been so much better.
I'm on the same B Class Imperial Venator freighter since 2012. I spend the entire lockdown designing and decorating my mobile home. Surprisingly, it turned into an intergalactic Ice Cream Truck. Endurance means rebuiling my entire base from the ground up. I'm gonna take my Polestar Save as a build lab
You could always jump to an empty system if you use the coordinates. Empty systems dont have freighter battles. And then once you come back to the system your freighter battle is in, land on the space station, exit to auto safe, land on the freighter and scan for its class, reload back to station if not S class and land on the freighter again, wich should spawn somewhere around the station. Redo until you get an S class. Thats what i used.
You're absolutely right. It is 100% worth it to grind for an S-Class freighter. And you're also right in that 15 to 30 reloads to get the S-Class you want is a cakewalk. I have the big boy Star Destroyer in an S-Class also. I pushed for mine before the outlaw updates as well and it took me THREE DAYS worth of playing and reloads in order for the S-Class to pop. I seriously considered just giving up on the whole endeavor. LOL.
heres a little tip! for new players go to your local outlaw system because there is no sentinels there at all when in the system wait till a freighter spawns and attack it for free loot without sentinels annoying you!

havent been playing long , whent to pirate base as part of a job /mission when i finished my busines bumped in to a battle (didnt know ) killed all attackers capt invited me aboard i agreed to take the ship , went to bed , watched youtube told not to take first ship .loaded my game found out it was A class system im quite happy for now no rush
I just traded my S-Class Sentinal-Sential for an S-Class Sentinal-Dreadnought, and max cargo increased from 24 to 48! Thanks for making it pretty darn easy, Whisky! It only took 5 tries in an outlaw system.
I'm a new player just started last week. Been loving this game so far. Anyways I actually got an S class on my second reload😂. Can't believe how lucky I got
If switching to a new freighter and you want to keep the same internal base layout, leave at least one item in the old freighters inventory. You will then get a prompt to transfer the existing internal layout.
I want to note something. If you jump into the system and there is a battle and it IS the capital/freighter you want you do not need to leave the system. Simply go to the station jump out and create a save point in the system. The event does NOT need to be happening in order to get your free freighter. you may now reload and fly right from the station to the freighter as many times as it takes. Good luck. I saw this done live on another streamers vid, tried it myself and after 98 reloads I got my capital ship in just under 2 hours without having to see a single pirate or trigger an event. Just go talk to the captain, it will say "purchase" but once you get to the screen it will say "claim" and it will be free. Just be sure you are boarding the right freighter, there are usually 2 in the system.

Took me 100 hours before someone told me (I didnt even find out myself) That you can build inside your freighter upstairs... mine came with what felt like the basics (2 fleet command, a system scan) but turns out you can have a whole base in there with balcony, greenhouse, storage, specialits, the whole thing :O I really don't know if that's common knowledge but i was dumbfounded and still am a while after learning.
I would say it’s fairly common knowledge. You would be surprised how many floors you can have on your freighter. Most people don’t utilize the full size of their freighter, because at some point the game glitches out and you’ll fall out of your freighter it happened to me when I was trying to grow a bunch of plants
I know all about “Hodenpo” - no need to be the 133th to comment about it. EDITS: Had a brain freeze at 7:57 - that's obviously an Iris freighter and I accidentally had Enterprise. I'm pretty sure no one will confuse the two, but just know I am aware! ✌😂
My good old S-Class Dreadnaught took me days to get, reloading and jumping into my nearby 3* Systems just to get a Dreadnaught and then going there again and again until it was an S-Class. I'm never going away from this bad ass Capital Ship, although I will go vor a Star-Destroyer on my second "main-save"
Well, color my Star Wars fanboy self hooked on this game. They’ve literally got all 3 of the iconic star destroyers for all 3 trilogies. The venator class from revenge of the Sith/clone wars. The imperial class from the OG trilogy, and the resurgent class from the sequels.
You did a really great job! Can't imagine how much time it took to find and record all this information. Thank you very much. This video helped me to be more confident of my freighter. I recently started having thoughts that it might be not the biggest one, but thanks to you now I know how to check the freighters' tiers.
After not getting a single S class in a very long save where I spent a lot of time even entering every fleets freighter I finally decided to do it this way. And went for the Dreadnought from the video. It took me 77 reloads of which 67 were C, 7 were B, 2 were A and the final one obviously an S. Thank you for the commentator who wrote about the in system save in the station before grinding. That saved a lot of time. Still was about an hour of preps in game and than 2 1/2 hours in the real time loop, forget the Leviathan expedition ;-)
I actually have a freighter full of geck that are all seemingly insane. So me and my friend's collectivly gave it the name the "Dead Man's Post" and in our group even thought it is smaller and worse looking. It has become known as the most dangerous ship

My favorite freighter is the 7 segment Dreadnaught with two quad pods underneath on the belly. Some claim it is the biggest freighter in the game. I prefer the square pods on the sides, as I think they look cool, and they seem to be even more rare on the largest, seven segment dreadnaughts. The pods on the belly are always the spheres, but gives a nice contrast to the square pods along the sides.
Been grinding Units for when I find the best of the best.. but damn this method is convoluted as hell. 600,000,000 units for that one was wild but I’m glad I’ve saved up more than that for when I find one.
I love how the venator classes are actually star destroyers in star wars canon and each size is accurate to the type name with the venator being the clone wars star destroyer the imperial being well the one used by the empire and the resurgent being the first order star destroyer which is one of the few things I liked about the sequels
I went to the system showed for the dreadnought in the video and tryed to get an S class. The best part is that i got it first try, it was so easy lol😂

Idk how rare it is but my first rescued freighter was s-class... wish it was the star destroyer one. With how often i saw other s things i snaged that as quick as i saw it.
New to NMS due to sale on steam and this video just let me get an S tier Dreadnought Sentinel and I don’t have all the glyphs so I just used an outlaw system near where I started. Took 4 attempts. It’s not completely maxed and I was gonna take an S or A no matter what it was, but I’m sure you saved me a lot of time and kept me from wasting my free one on the first one. Thanks for the video!
Currently have an A class Sentinel. It’s perfectly adequate. About 3 years ago I decided that I wanted to get the S class Dreadnaught but I wanted to find it naturally. Yeeaahh, I’ve come to far now to cheese it. Hopefully in another 3 years I’ll find it. Good to know that private systems have higher odds didn’t know that. Thanks
So sorry to hear that. First time player here. My 2nd freighter battle ever was an S class Dreadnought. I was so new (last week) I had no idea what I had. I was just jazzed I got an S class on the 2nd try.

Star Destroyer, Dreadnaught and oddly enough the Galleon would be my top three choices. Currently waiting on frigate refresh to finish my expedition. I never realized the first battle was a system freighter I reloaded for hours and hours before I gave up and moved to another system my first time.
It took me FOREVER to realise your first freighter battle will always give you normal freighters. I really wanted a Sentinel and did all the tips I learned. After completing the first fight and taking the money I played for another 3 hours straight and jumped a bunch. Turns out the system next to my starting system had the perfect Sentinel.

Hopefully this can save some others, I read on Reddit that you can land at the space station once you find a freighter design you like to reset for the class.. you can’t. It ends the battle and the freighter will not be available for free anymore
I keep trying to move myself to other freighters, but the largest possible Dreadnaught is my favorite. I have an amazing S-Class in one of my saves of the Battleship Sentinel, which is great. But I have just landed in a system with the largest of the Dreadnaughts (including the 2 underside pods). I will go for an A or an S this time around. Thanks for the video.
Resurgent Venator. Wish you could actually build inside the cargo sections of the ship, and wish you could build observation decks. I mean, come on, the downwards “fin” with the thrusters is a perfect place to put an observatory. Should I send that idea to Hello Games? Or am I the only one who thinks about this?
Since the latest 4.4x updates, I have only found Capital freighters in space battles (after making that 5th jump) with Pirate Dreadnought in outlaw systems. Each and every outlaw system jump triggered a Pirate Dreadnought battle with a Capital Freighter, while all standard systems triggered a regular pirate attack on a system Freighter. I tried this with 20 or so systems, on two occasions, so obviously I can't be 100% that the Capital Freighters no longer spawn outside of Outlaw systems (with Pirate Dreadnought battle).
Theres also a system that is consistent quick and easy s class freighter upgrades. 7 rooms only. I don't remember the portal address but you should be able to find easily.
I didn't realize you could buy a freighter at first, so I just blew up and ten fleets to get money, and just grinded my reputation back up. Ended up having enough money I bought an S Class freighter when I learned you could.
It's a good amount of units !! Here is my method : After doing basic things until be able to warp, get the first freighter, make some nanites to unlock essentials technologies to summon the nautilon with his scanner upgrades (for locating the shipwrecks) and the ship upgrade for landing on water. Find a rich system who have big cargo starships (the ones with containers) and go to a planet with a ocean. find 11 sunken cargos ships with the scanner and sell them pieces to the station by dismounting for 4 to 8M each, repeat the process as many time as you want. You will need by the way to buy the necessary ressources for repairing the engines of thoses wrecks and resplenish some fuel without farming. Getting from one shipwreck to another can take only 1 or 2 minutes if you'r make it quick. When prepared and ready to go, it's possible to get something like over 100M in just one hour.
@@shukthy the magic of duping theres nothing you can do to get 200mil 7 hours into the game unless it wasnt their first time playing NMS and they already had knowledge then they probably instantly started seeking out sentinel ships to salvage as they average 20-70m unit value
I wish I had known about all these tricks before I started. I just recently got into NMS, and have been enjoying it. I haven't gotten Stargate yet. But, I got my first freighter, I believe it's the one you referenced as an over-bite. I would like to get a Venetor. I tend to stick to my original starter play through. So, I don't start a new game to get "the best". I continue with my game and just worked towards the ships I want. Currently, looking for a different fighter and a decent hauler. And, for a Venetor. Following your advice, really work wonder. I try it out from my nearest system, found the right ship, and took in an A Rank. I don't mind it isn't an S class as long is a freighter Venator medium size with a decent Rank, I'm happy what I got. I mean having a freighter as a home it a pretty sweet gig. Thank you so much!!
I have actually missed the reward after saving the freighter at least 20 times until i noticed that you can accept the call and land there, so my first one was already capital
I been playing a several days now.... straight... my eyes hurt. Not really... but I have been chronic. Trying to balance between the joy of discovery and ruining the mystery to maximize potential. To me, 100mil units.... is an incredible sum. I have had maybe 10mil at the most. Was there a functional difference between the system freighters and capital freighters? Or is it simply cosmetic... I think you said the only difference is the acquisition method, which implies they are functionally identical.
My first playthrough I found the S class freighter I wanted relatively easily. My second playthrough I probably spent 8 hours reloading and didn't get what I wanted in a 3 star system. My second pirate system I checked had an S class.
A workaround with portals if you don't have a freighter and you use glyphs to get to the system you want a battle to spawn in. Make a save before you portal to desired system. Once you are in your desired system jump to a nearby star don't matter if it's inhabited or not as soon as you spawn you will see the battle that you don't want. Go to photo mode and Screencast the portal code. Reload the save at the portal and use the new portal code and jump back to the system with desired freighter battle and it will spawn.

Unfortunately, I just picked this game back up last week and didn't know these encounters weren't entirely RNG so I took the first freighter (an ugly C class), the next one was an S class capital freighter and would have cost me 135 million units to switch but it was early in my game so I only had 10 million to my name. 80 hours and 50 warps later I still haven't found another one.
there are set encounters you can find on youtube for specific freighters. they are the same every time and always give that specific freighter. then all you gotta do is keep redoing the encounter until its s class. gold dreadnaught is one of the coolest i think.
@@officialdabaws5228 Yeah, I've seen some of those pop up in my suggestions but I find it more fun to search for them in game myself. I did get an yellow and red S Class in the short version of the style I want but will still keep looking for the black and yellow one I missed out on.
Just got my 1st freighter - I am only 1 week into the game so was pretty stoked to get a Venetor. Looks so cool. It is only B class and it is one of the small ones, but I really don't mind, just happy to be playing 😇

this might sound too good to be true, but I found my perfect S class star destroyer, but it was in a 2 star economy system and only took an hour to find... (had to get my first battle out the way last night so started literally an hour ago and boom S class already)
Guess I got a bit lucky.. I've been playing for 4 days now, and after my first freighter battle I didn't know what to do, so I just ignored the com and moved on. I didn't on my second freighter battle, and it gave me an S class Venator Resurgent for free. 😅
I’m new to No Mans Sky, got to the freighter battle did some research online realized I missed up on a few other thing in the beginning so I started over after 40 hours in. Now I’m 70+ hours into my second save slot lol and have only made 1 jump 🤣. But this video was extremely helpful. I like my Resurgent freighter, i like to RP with it by calling it after a faction from Homeworld, its great fun in photo mode to get my freighter and an enemy Sentinel freighter "battling" through space.
I've had my S-Class Sentinel Dreadnought for years, I got it at the time where the first freighter you could get from space battle was a capital ship, and simply making the jump to a rich system would guarantee a S-class spawn. I was planning to replace it with a Venator, but reading how difficult it became, I might stick with my current freighter. In fact I got all my ships long ago (S-class Fighter, 1 S-Class hauler and 1 S-class explorer, all with maxed out inventory and tech slots), before outlaw systems were even a thing. It took hundreds of hours to get them, and I am not likely to exchange them anytime soon.
I just got the 7 cargo biggest dreadnought and on my second try I got an A class, debating on pulling the trigger or grinding it till it’s an s class 😮
Why does no one ever mention that when buying a new freigthier you old base doesnt transfer over, i have always asked that but to no awail and now that i got a new one i have to start collecting all the millions of items again. :( edit: it only takes the first storage and for me it was just full of general material, welp all the goodies are gone oh well.
Make sure you have a base with the storage items placed as well, and it should not delete the items inside your storage containers, it will, however, delete all installed upgrades, and any loot stored in the freighters inventory itself.
There are post on Redit about this. I realize - too little, too late. But believe me I was so glad to find that info because otherwise I would have wiped out a freighter I have been working on-and-off for a few weeks. I just wanted 4 freighters and 90-120 frigates. Why is that too much?
I remember when I first play NMS back in launch I would reload the saves on freighter battles to eventually get resurgent venator lol. Anyway, ever since the beginning I hope NMS would one day have large scale fleet to fleet battles. I'll keep waiting until then.

Yeahhh, so I just started playing a few days ago. I visited the Anomaly, and this guy was giving units and an S class fighter to new players. Now I have a freighter, 30 frigates and 500,000,000 units. I legit have enough funds to do whatever I want.
what i also find out works is if your next jump is the one with the battle just portal to the system that the freighter you want is in and find a neighboring "uninhabited system" and jump there. it wont trigger a battle because its uninhabited so you can safely jump back to the system with the freighter you want to trigger the battle.
A few days ago didn't buy the first free system freighter bcs I shot it while fighting the pirates. Yesterday I came across the second battle and it was a dreadnought sentinal freighter. Only S class but i got it for free. And it wasn't even on purpose😅

I actually created two portals one that takes you to a Red Sentinal Dreadnaught systems and another that takes you to an adjecent No species system

If switching to a new freighter and you want to keep the same internal base layout, leave at least one item in the old freighters inventory. You will then get a prompt to transfer the existing internal layout.
I want to note something. If you jump into the system and there is a battle and it IS the capital/freighter you want you do not need to leave the system. Simply go to the station jump out and create a save point in the system. The event does NOT need to be happening in order to get your free freighter. you may now reload and fly right from the station to the freighter as many times as it takes. Good luck.
I saw this done live on another streamers vid, tried it myself and after 98 reloads I got my capital ship in just under 2 hours without having to see a single pirate or trigger an event.
Just go talk to the captain, it will say "purchase" but once you get to the screen it will say "claim" and it will be free.
Just be sure you are boarding the right freighter, there are usually 2 in the system.

I when into this game blind and got the free one on day 2 and it's the reason I kept playing and really opened my eyes to how big this game is
Took me 100 hours before someone told me (I didnt even find out myself) That you can build inside your freighter upstairs... mine came with what felt like the basics (2 fleet command, a system scan) but turns out you can have a whole base in there with balcony, greenhouse, storage, specialits, the whole thing :O I really don't know if that's common knowledge but i was dumbfounded and still am a while after learning.
I would say it’s fairly common knowledge. You would be surprised how many floors you can have on your freighter. Most people don’t utilize the full size of their freighter, because at some point the game glitches out and you’ll fall out of your freighter it happened to me when I was trying to grow a bunch of plants

EDITS: Had a brain freeze at 7:57 - that's obviously an Iris freighter and I accidentally had Enterprise. I'm pretty sure no one will confuse the two, but just know I am aware! ✌😂
My good old S-Class Dreadnaught took me days to get, reloading and jumping into my nearby 3* Systems just to get a Dreadnaught and then going there again and again until it was an S-Class. I'm never going away from this bad ass Capital Ship, although I will go vor a Star-Destroyer on my second "main-save"
You know what I done it all the story the build. Years it takes years and now we waight for a hole new story and more to build
Well, color my Star Wars fanboy self hooked on this game. They’ve literally got all 3 of the iconic star destroyers for all 3 trilogies. The venator class from revenge of the Sith/clone wars. The imperial class from the OG trilogy, and the resurgent class from the sequels.

No, you really didn't want to pick it up a long time ago. Just be glad you got in when it is good.
After not getting a single S class in a very long save where I spent a lot of time even entering every fleets freighter I finally decided to do it this way. And went for the Dreadnought from the video. It took me 77 reloads of which 67 were C, 7 were B, 2 were A and the final one obviously an S. Thank you for the commentator who wrote about the in system save in the station before grinding. That saved a lot of time. Still was about an hour of preps in game and than 2 1/2 hours in the real time loop, forget the Leviathan expedition ;-)
I actually have a freighter full of geck that are all seemingly insane. So me and my friend's collectivly gave it the name the "Dead Man's Post" and in our group even thought it is smaller and worse looking. It has become known as the most dangerous ship

My favorite freighter is the 7 segment Dreadnaught with two quad pods underneath on the belly. Some claim it is the biggest freighter in the game. I prefer the square pods on the sides, as I think they look cool, and they seem to be even more rare on the largest, seven segment dreadnaughts. The pods on the belly are always the spheres, but gives a nice contrast to the square pods along the sides.
8:35 now that they’re side by side I can see a lot of the art direction in no man’s sky took inspiration from 2001 space odyssey

I love how the venator classes are actually star destroyers in star wars canon and each size is accurate to the type name with the venator being the clone wars star destroyer the imperial being well the one used by the empire and the resurgent being the first order star destroyer which is one of the few things I liked about the sequels

Idk how rare it is but my first rescued freighter was s-class... wish it was the star destroyer one. With how often i saw other s things i snaged that as quick as i saw it.
New to NMS due to sale on steam and this video just let me get an S tier Dreadnought Sentinel and I don’t have all the glyphs so I just used an outlaw system near where I started. Took 4 attempts. It’s not completely maxed and I was gonna take an S or A no matter what it was, but I’m sure you saved me a lot of time and kept me from wasting my free one on the first one. Thanks for the video!

About 3 years ago I decided that I wanted to get the S class Dreadnaught but I wanted to find it naturally. Yeeaahh, I’ve come to far now to cheese it. Hopefully in another 3 years I’ll find it.

So sorry to hear that. First time player here. My 2nd freighter battle ever was an S class Dreadnought. I was so new (last week) I had no idea what I had. I was just jazzed I got an S class on the 2nd try.

Sometimes I do wish I didn't have this Sentinel Dreadnought. The system freighters are so much more varied and unique.

Star Destroyer, Dreadnaught and oddly enough the Galleon would be my top three choices. Currently waiting on frigate refresh to finish my expedition. I never realized the first battle was a system freighter I reloaded for hours and hours before I gave up and moved to another system my first time.
Bruh i literally went to check i have s class enterprise and i didnt know this, i literally was like "yall giving me this for free???????"
It took me FOREVER to realise your first freighter battle will always give you normal freighters. I really wanted a Sentinel and did all the tips I learned. After completing the first fight and taking the money I played for another 3 hours straight and jumped a bunch. Turns out the system next to my starting system had the perfect Sentinel.

Hopefully this can save some others, I read on Reddit that you can land at the space station once you find a freighter design you like to reset for the class.. you can’t. It ends the battle and the freighter will not be available for free anymore

I keep trying to move myself to other freighters, but the largest possible Dreadnaught is my favorite. I have an amazing S-Class in one of my saves of the Battleship Sentinel, which is great. But I have just landed in a system with the largest of the Dreadnaughts (including the 2 underside pods). I will go for an A or an S this time around. Thanks for the video.
Resurgent Venator. Wish you could actually build inside the cargo sections of the ship, and wish you could build observation decks. I mean, come on, the downwards “fin” with the thrusters is a perfect place to put an observatory. Should I send that idea to Hello Games? Or am I the only one who thinks about this?
Since the latest 4.4x updates, I have only found Capital freighters in space battles (after making that 5th jump) with Pirate Dreadnought in outlaw systems. Each and every outlaw system jump triggered a Pirate Dreadnought battle with a Capital Freighter, while all standard systems triggered a regular pirate attack on a system Freighter. I tried this with 20 or so systems, on two occasions, so obviously I can't be 100% that the Capital Freighters no longer spawn outside of Outlaw systems (with Pirate Dreadnought battle).
I had no idea that you could get freighter bulkheads from the payment. Won’t be skipping those battles anymore.

Theres also a system that is consistent quick and easy s class freighter upgrades. 7 rooms only. I don't remember the portal address but you should be able to find easily.
Before the past few recent updates the only rewards given was chromatic metal and maybe some nanites. It was changed thankfully
I didn't realize you could buy a freighter at first, so I just blew up and ten fleets to get money, and just grinded my reputation back up. Ended up having enough money I bought an S Class freighter when I learned you could.
7 hours into the game and I already have 200M units 💪🏾💯

Here is my method :
After doing basic things until be able to warp, get the first freighter, make some nanites to unlock essentials technologies to summon the nautilon with his scanner upgrades (for locating the shipwrecks) and the ship upgrade for landing on water. Find a rich system who have big cargo starships (the ones with containers) and go to a planet with a ocean. find 11 sunken cargos ships with the scanner and sell them pieces to the station by dismounting for 4 to 8M each, repeat the process as many time as you want. You will need by the way to buy the necessary ressources for repairing the engines of thoses wrecks and resplenish some fuel without farming. Getting from one shipwreck to another can take only 1 or 2 minutes if you'r make it quick.
When prepared and ready to go, it's possible to get something like over 100M in just one hour.

unless it wasnt their first time playing NMS and they already had knowledge then they probably instantly started seeking out sentinel ships to salvage as they average 20-70m unit value

I just recently got into NMS, and have been enjoying it.
I haven't gotten Stargate yet.
But, I got my first freighter, I believe it's the one you referenced as an over-bite.
I would like to get a Venetor.
I tend to stick to my original starter play through.
So, I don't start a new game to get "the best".
I continue with my game and just worked towards the ships I want.
Currently, looking for a different fighter and a decent hauler.
And, for a Venetor.
But, this info should prove helpful.

I have actually missed the reward after saving the freighter at least 20 times until i noticed that you can accept the call and land there, so my first one was already capital
I been playing a several days now.... straight... my eyes hurt. Not really... but I have been chronic.
Trying to balance between the joy of discovery and ruining the mystery to maximize potential.
To me, 100mil units.... is an incredible sum. I have had maybe 10mil at the most.
Was there a functional difference between the system freighters and capital freighters?
Or is it simply cosmetic... I think you said the only difference is the acquisition method, which implies they are functionally identical.
Cosmetics, as well as capitals being rarer due to them only being found from battles
My first playthrough I found the S class freighter I wanted relatively easily. My second playthrough I probably spent 8 hours reloading and didn't get what I wanted in a 3 star system. My second pirate system I checked had an S class.
Didn't even cover the Smugglers Freighters. They are amazing.

A workaround with portals if you don't have a freighter and you use glyphs to get to the system you want a battle to spawn in. Make a save before you portal to desired system. Once you are in your desired system jump to a nearby star don't matter if it's inhabited or not as soon as you spawn you will see the battle that you don't want. Go to photo mode and Screencast the portal code. Reload the save at the portal and use the new portal code and jump back to the system with desired freighter battle and it will spawn.

Unfortunately, I just picked this game back up last week and didn't know these encounters weren't entirely RNG so I took the first freighter (an ugly C class), the next one was an S class capital freighter and would have cost me 135 million units to switch but it was early in my game so I only had 10 million to my name. 80 hours and 50 warps later I still haven't found another one.
there are set encounters you can find on youtube for specific freighters. they are the same every time and always give that specific freighter. then all you gotta do is keep redoing the encounter until its s class. gold dreadnaught is one of the coolest i think.
@@officialdabaws5228 Yeah, I've seen some of those pop up in my suggestions but I find it more fun to search for them in game myself. I did get an yellow and red S Class in the short version of the style I want but will still keep looking for the black and yellow one I missed out on.
Just got my 1st freighter - I am only 1 week into the game so was pretty stoked to get a Venetor. Looks so cool. It is only B class and it is one of the small ones, but I really don't mind, just happy to be playing 😇

this might sound too good to be true, but I found my perfect S class star destroyer, but it was in a 2 star economy system and only took an hour to find... (had to get my first battle out the way last night so started literally an hour ago and boom S class already)
Guess I got a bit lucky.. I've been playing for 4 days now, and after my first freighter battle I didn't know what to do, so I just ignored the com and moved on.
I didn't on my second freighter battle, and it gave me an S class Venator Resurgent for free. 😅

I’m new to No Mans Sky, got to the freighter battle did some research online realized I missed up on a few other thing in the beginning so I started over after 40 hours in. Now I’m 70+ hours into my second save slot lol and have only made 1 jump 🤣. But this video was extremely helpful.

I've had my S-Class Sentinel Dreadnought for years, I got it at the time where the first freighter you could get from space battle was a capital ship, and simply making the jump to a rich system would guarantee a S-class spawn. I was planning to replace it with a Venator, but reading how difficult it became, I might stick with my current freighter.
In fact I got all my ships long ago (S-class Fighter, 1 S-Class hauler and 1 S-class explorer, all with maxed out inventory and tech slots), before outlaw systems were even a thing. It took hundreds of hours to get them, and I am not likely to exchange them anytime soon.
I just got the 7 cargo biggest dreadnought and on my second try I got an A class, debating on pulling the trigger or grinding it till it’s an s class 😮
Why does no one ever mention that when buying a new freigthier you old base doesnt transfer over, i have always asked that but to no awail and now that i got a new one i have to start collecting all the millions of items again. :(
edit: it only takes the first storage and for me it was just full of general material, welp all the goodies are gone oh well.
Make sure you have a base with the storage items placed as well, and it should not delete the items inside your storage containers, it will, however, delete all installed upgrades, and any loot stored in the freighters inventory itself.
There are post on Redit about this. I realize - too little, too late. But believe me I was so glad to find that info because otherwise I would have wiped out a freighter I have been working on-and-off for a few weeks. I just wanted 4 freighters and 90-120 frigates. Why is that too much?

I remember when I first play NMS back in launch I would reload the saves on freighter battles to eventually get resurgent venator lol. Anyway, ever since the beginning I hope NMS would one day have large scale fleet to fleet battles. I'll keep waiting until then.

Yeahhh, so I just started playing a few days ago. I visited the Anomaly, and this guy was giving units and an S class fighter to new players.
Now I have a freighter, 30 frigates and 500,000,000 units. I legit have enough funds to do whatever I want.
what i also find out works is if your next jump is the one with the battle just portal to the system that the freighter you want is in and find a neighboring "uninhabited system" and jump there. it wont trigger a battle because its uninhabited so you can safely jump back to the system with the freighter you want to trigger the battle.
A few days ago didn't buy the first free system freighter bcs I shot it while fighting the pirates. Yesterday I came across the second battle and it was a dreadnought sentinal freighter. Only S class but i got it for free. And it wasn't even on purpose😅
