great video! Just found someone on facebook marketplace selling the same slabs, just the not at the same depth. Usually $250 a piece, I got them for $180 for both! Don't pass up the option to rehome someone else's desks!

You can find solid wood for much cheaper than 400.
Go to Lowe's, go to the appearance board and MDF section. 72" x 30" x 2" solid wood board. $120 not laminate and not $400 😂 that's what I built my desk with
MDF is only barely better than particleboard for a desk, especially over time.

Looks great!! I'm still rocking my 20 year old IKEA Galant desk. It has its share of battle scars, but I haven't found anything better for the $200 I spent on the Galant and all the extensions.

Did you find when you had the Alex drawers, that you needed to add legs behind them? Or were the drawers deep enough themselves?
A few years back, I found a 9ft wood-butcher-block-countertop at Lowes for like $250 (pre Rona, obviously). I stained it to my preference, and got similar legs to what you chose off of Amazon. Now I have a desk that fits my computer setup and 2 Bambu Lab 3d printers.
Awesome desks are just a few hundred bucks and a little creativity/elbow grease away.
G video, the issue I've been running too is when running desk deeper than 39 in is monitor arm depth and wobble and not being able to utilize the wall behind your desk, If you wanna move your monitor closer to your face your gonna have to run it on the stand itself or drill a rectangular cutout at around 36-35 in deep to do cable management routing and clamps, but yea I would say the sweet spot for me is 36 in of depth, and if you really care just buy a cheap cart to put your PC behind your desk to save space. Also if you want to maximize space, running a desk that is too deep won't allow you to utilize peg boards or other storage devices. This is a bummer for me tho as I have a decently small room and I wanna maximize usable space.
But I run a left hand L shaped desk and I put an Alex Drawer and a drawer with wheels on the right side for storage and a place to put my PC on.
Also If someone need some inspiration, you can get a regular 32-36 in main "desk" for like your gaming area than is about 4-6 feet and another deeper island like 36-42 in and make it your L shaped portion

It will! But you can prevent this by just buying a 30 dollar L shaped steel rack (not sure its called that in English haha)

I want this as my exact setup however i want the Alex drawers. I know block will hang off some, what can i do as the block is wider than the drawers?
