I think the first pair looked nice but if they feel off to you it doesnt matter what anyone says. Thankyou for taking the time to explain the different fit issues and showing how to do it.
Blue shorts totally wearable in my opinion. The color looks great! And the fit is not that bad… I would totally wear them as is. You are being too hard on yourself on that (as we all do sometimes!). Great video! Thanks for sharing! Take care!
Oh they are all so nice & cute. I made myself a pants mannequin form while we were in due to COVID. I really don’t have any one who could help me with fitting and really got exhausted and bum knee would really give me a fit with pinning. I made the form by wrapping myself in slightly dampened packing tape. I let it dry and marked areas waist, hip, knee & bellybutton. Cut it off me and then I had to put some areas back where they had been cut. It really works great. I still try them on myself a time or two but my pants form has really helped give me a good idea what needs to be done on my pants. Hubby helped me a lot making it.
Thanks so much for this great video! By following along in my sewing room, I was able to finally get a good fit on these. Even though I am experienced in fitting, I like the way you presented it as it gave all the right fixes in a straightforward manner.
I think the first pair is wearable if you feel comfortable with the fit in the crotch. Maybe if you don't want to wear them outside, use them as shorty pajama bottoms. Comfort both physically and emotionally is most important. That may sound weird, but sometimes things fit on me, but I just don't like them, so that is what I meant by emotionally comfortable. I think the pandemic made alot of us become more introspective and really learned alot about who we are inside. What really makes us happy, content, what our needs truly are and how to get them met on our own or within our immediate family. That, for me, included clothing. I really enjoyed this video and it came at a great time as I am just starting to work on my shorts, only I wear them much longer. I'm so glad you addressed the riding up issue, as that happened to me alot last year, so now I know what to do!!! Thank you so much!
My partner always has that problem with the excess fabric at the front - she is also looking forward to the Pietra pants tutorial as they turned out really bunchy at the back and too much fabric in the front again so she just wanted to say thank you for your helpful videos with good fitting content.
I so understand the bathing suit problem of your daughter! I was short, skinny and a 28D at 15, with a long body. Bathing suits were a nightmare and my Mom luckily could make me one. However, in the 70's when I was young, finding a modest pattern that looked youthful was also nearly impossible! Love the video, I have the allegro but haven't made it yet, this will really help.
Excellent description of how you adjusted fit and why. Sewing for my mother, daughters and myself, fitting pants is different for all of us. Thank you for your techniques 🧡🧡🧡
Great tutorial! I am definitely going to try shortening the rise on my next project. This is the main reason why I don’t make pants-there is always a bunch of excess fabric in the front. I just didn’t know what I needed to do to fix it.
Ok, this was sooo amazing!! Such good fit teaching!! It's probably also the most entertaining video, what with butt crack crawling, getting your butt fixed and losing your front Y. Loved all of it!!
I have always struggled with getting trousers/shorts to fit as I have a long rise. This explains so many issues I have with short making and how to sort them out. So thank you.
I think the first light denim pair is wearable. It looks fine with the shirt tucked out and covering the waist.......the bottom of the shorts look good. Thanks for the progression. I always have to make adjustments on pants patterns and I like the tip not to do too many things at once. I have the opposite problem in that I have to add 1 to 1 1/2 inches in the rise of the pants and sometimes need more in the back than the front. Next time I will do the hinge adjustment you showed.
Whitney, I just can't thank you enough. As long as I'm below size 16 the rise fit perfectly; but anything above, the rise is way too long as I am 5'7"with a crotch depth of 9". Have been sewing for a very long time, but just couldn't wrap my head around the difference in the back length after a front adjustment, since, I usually only need it on the front. Funny the things that I have overlooked. The other method I've used is making a mockup and tucking under excess at elastic at the waist, then marking the waistline below the elastic. The "dip" in the front between the side seams is quite noticeable. Love to watch you work.
Only 15 minutes in and I’m guilty of overfitting trousers. I’ll tweak everything. I’ve just realised this summer that now I just shorten the front rise it brings the back rise too far forward - so adding to the front inseam/curve would help. Lovely to see Gidget.
This is a super helpful video for me (and I'll be referring back for sure). I'm a visual learner and seeing the full process from diagnosing to adjusting the pattern makes all the difference. The next time you do full length pants consider this same approach. I worked on this shorts pattern last summer (and another full length pant pattern) but gave-up in frustration ... now I want to try again. Thx!
Thank you! Thank you! I made the allegro shorts yesterday and most definitely knew I either needed some tweaks or was going too scrape the pattern completely. I think I can save the patter now. Thank you!
To be perfectly honest Whitney, I like the blue denim shorts better than the brown linen shorts! I do think it's the depth of the front that's the issue on the brown ones. (I've only got to the brown shorts in the video so far lol) If you don't need the draw string to hold them up just put an 8" shoe lace in across the back between the two holes and tie a bow. No sense in putting a full one in when you don't need it. Could you not have laid the pocket pieces lined with the top seam to the notch and just trim the side down so you don't lose length in the pocket, just slightly narrowing it at the bottom? Thank you for going through both processes with the front and back rise! SOOOO helpful! I think the darker blue shorts are PERFECT! I have a question regarding athletic skorts/shorts, I know you made the golf skirt what pattern for shorts would you recommend for 'restrictive' clothing policies for golf courses? My daughter is getting into golfing with her fiance and wore a paperbag topped pair of shorts and was told they were not appropriate! She is like her momma but much much smaller, she's pear shaped so anything she buys doesn't fit in waist and gapes at the back so I wanted to surprise her with a pair of golf shorts that actually fit but since I don't golf I'm not sure which pattern would work best.
That’s crazy that she was told paper bag waisted shorts weren’t appropriate! I’ve golfed most of my life and have been to some top notch courses and would have never considered them inappropriate. As far as golf skorts, I’ve used a running skort from Jalie, the Belize Skort from Itch to Stitch and the Pace Skirt from GreenStyle creations. They all have made great golfing skorts! If she wants just shorts, I think the Chi Town Chinos or the Upland Trousers made in a stretch athletic woven would make great golf shorts!
I think the first pair are wearable but the last is super!! I think the fabric also had a lot to do with it. Absolutely loved this video. So helpful. Shows us how to just persevere with adjusting a pattern. I also bought the capsule wardrobe. So I’m excited also that she made us a special spot
Thank you for the explanation on adjusting just the front rise!!! I think the denim shorts are nice and would look good with and oversized white button up shirt. I agree with the comment that the denim will soften with time. Just wash them every time you wash those colors;)
This has been very helpful. Just seeing your changes a bit at a time has helped me to understand the why and how. Style Arc pants fit me well, I do make some small changes but its a bit hit and miss. I'd like to make more pants/shorts so thank-you for this.
Very nice…. And I agree on the fb capsule sewing section of the group, so glad she added it for us to share…. Love the idea of an allegro skort! I have a couple pairs of allegro shorts I am making as part of my summer capsule and then will have a go at that. As always Whitney thanks for sharing such great ideas
The grading out for a thick waist is so helpful. I am never quite sure where to start the transition. Once menopause happened my waist basically disappeared 😕
Thank you so much for showing how to do these adjustments. I am planning on making the Allegros but was so scared since I’m one of the ladies that need a different length in the front and not need to adjust the back. This is so helpful thanks 🙏
Great video! Thanks for all the details on the various adjustments. I also like the denim pair as well.....just remember "best" vrs "perfect" fit. Saying that, the blue shorts fit perfectly. And I appreciate a skort for outdoor activities well, so thanks also for sharing that.
Thank you so much for doing this video! I have followed your instructions to fit my vero shorts, and it’s worked! I’m on my 3rd pair and it’s a good fit now! Had to do the rise adjustments for front and back and also just another inch for front only. Your video really helped me understand!
I made the9” shorts from some leftover tencel chambray. I suggest interfacing and finishing all edges. Boy did this stuff fray. Hopefully your chambray won’t fray as much as mine did
Enjoy this fitting series. IMO for each pair 1 thru 4: Pair One: WEAR 'EM. So nicely made and look better than anyone buying ready-made. Pair Two: CUTE. I concur with Whitney about the need to shorten the rise. Pair Three: NICE FIT! However, I would prefer a little wider leg with the cuff. Pair Skort Four: I like 'em. The color is perfect for hiking especially if you need to sit on the ground. Could you see that in white or tan? --Good thinking, Whitney. Enjoyed this fitting series. ~ L
Thank you for info. Very helpful. 5 out of 4 patterns has a pattern call shenanigans skorts. You might want to give that one a try. I’ve made it a couple of times with swimsuit fabric and it is very comfy and fits nice. I’ve also made it for granddaughters.
I think the blue denim shorts look just fine on you. They look good . Certainly better than an off the rack pair would. No one but you will notice the small criticisms you see. Wear them and enjoy.
I really was, "Wow, the last pair is totally better than the first two!" Wonderful tutorial. And, the skirt is great. The first pair, the denim one, you are definitely being too hard on yourself. Maybe not wear them when you want to really be stylin' it, but they are perfectly cute on you. I would not add the drawstring, though, because I always think they make the waist look like it's sticking out more.
Just finding this tutorial. I never would have thought to hinge at center back. I’ve been hinging the the front at the side seam to shorten the front rise but that seems to put excess fabric in the crotch area. Plus I tend to have to lower it so much that it does some interesting angles that I have to adjust. I’m going to try this the next time.
Great information. I am new to sewing and also 5'2". I bought the Allegro pattern last month, but haven't made anything yet so hopefully I can apply some of these techniques. I appreciate all the details you provide with altering the pattern. I would wear all 3 pairs of shorts! The progression is very interesting and definitely the final version fit best.
Oh I hadn’t realised that I needed to reduce the side seam when I’m shortening the front and lengthening the back crotch, as I was wondering why I had lots of fabric still in the front. Thank you!
Thank you for this very informative video. I needed the refresher on these adjustments. My adjustments will be to lengthen (I’m 5’8”). Looking forward to making the Allegro pattern. 👍👍
Typically, the back leg of a pattern is a bit wider than the front. However, if you are widening it, a good rule of thumb is to widen them equally (but the back will still be wider than the front). The biggest thing to keep in mind, is that balance is important so be sure to add equally amounts to the inseam and the side seam.
I’ve been cutting the waistband off a lot of my shorts and putting a yoga waistband on them. Love it! Was thinking you could do that on the denim ones to take care of the bulky waistband.
I think the denim pair are VERY wearable! Correct me if I’m wrong but couldn’t you still scoop out the back crotch on those now after the fact since you’re taking away fabric?
Whitney ~ this was such a great video! So glad to see the adjustments - huge help!! I vote the denim looked good on you :) Not sure how many agree, but I actually really liked them. That color is especially nice!
Wondering if you would have a pants sloper then you have the exact and perfect design and fit for all patterns? Take out your sloper master pattern then lay over commercial pattern. Voila. Will fit as you want on the first go.
While I think you could copy the crotch curve of your sloper in most situations, because each pattern is drafted on a different block (and with differing ease, etc.) laying your sloper on top of a pattern wouldn’t always work. It might, but I think it may end up being more frustrating than anything. The more you fit different patterns, the more you’ll learn your “typical” fit issues, which will make fitting a new pattern easier each time.
Thanks for showing all this! #3 is pretty good. Been working on shorts myself. Long process! Three things to consider: Perhaps make them very slightly less tapered to give more space between you and them? More slenderizing? I would scoop a little more in the back where it looks like it might be cutting in. The side seam seems to pull forward at the top, which in a busy world just hardly matters, but could you add to the front/subtract from the back to fix it? Thanks for all the work.
I think the side seam pulling to the front has more to do with how well I evenly distributed the fabric around the elastic, but if you have issues with non elastic waist pants, you could definitely do that alteration!
I would definitely wear the blue shorts!! I love them, and they look pretty nice. :+) I like all three pair, but the fit is better with the last pair-but they are all wearable!! I think the skort is my fav!! Thank you for the Gidget "fix"!! So sweet!! Yes, when they imprint on you-you both can emulate one another to a degree!! Wonderful video-and you looked radiant!! :+) Have a wonderful week!
Sometimes it would be nice if you used patterns readily available for most sewists.. Like the big four simplicity, McCall's, butterick ect.. You do such a good job explaining how to sew different parts of problem patterns
Looks goodbut I would extend the inseam. Thank you for showing the alterations. The brown shorts looks better. Amazing what a little added in the inseam will do. Fits better. I hate it when your short ride up your inner thigh and you are constantly pull down If you expand your legs on the inner thigh, would that also, give more room so it would not ride up?
It is amazing what adding just that 1/4” to the inseam can do! Oddly enough, I’m finding that my Allegros do not ride up in between the thighs when I walk (and that typically happens to me) and I think it’s because of the tapered leg.
This is so helpful - Thank you! I do have a question - what do you do about the grainline when removing/adding length to only the front or back? From the video, using the « pivot » method really messed up the grainline.
Thanks for the video. All three pair of shorts are definitely wearable. I am going to work on my fit a little more. Our measurements are similar but I cut out a straight size 8 and did not add to the waist. My thought was since they would go over my hips, I would just have less waist gathers. Do you think it is important to add to the waist?? I am not sure what happened but my rear is non existent, I am doing a fish eye dart to get rid of some of the excess fabric in the back. Thanks again! I love this pattern and it is definitely worth taking time to improve the fit.
You might be able to easily get away with a straight size 8 since it’s an elastic waistband. I would consider cutting your elastic to a length in the size that matches your waist, though. There’s nothing worse than too tight elastic!
I think you have done well given the adjustments you have had to do. How about a loose shirt a little longer to cover up the the top of the shorts would make you feel better about it. So shorts, a sleepless camisole with a loose fitting top over that and just button the lower part of the shirt???
I redraw the grain line in line with the piece I didn’t move. For instance, if I bring the top down to meet the bottom, I redraw the grain to match the bottom.
I think the first pair are very wearable! They look really cute!👍
Thank you!
You are the FIRST person who explains alterations that I can understand! Thanks 🙏🏻
Oh good!
The denim shorts are wearable. The skorts are great. The blue is wonderful. Thank you for the alterations.
My pleasure!
I think the first pair looked nice but if they feel off to you it doesnt matter what anyone says. Thankyou for taking the time to explain the different fit issues and showing how to do it.
It’s my pleasure!
Blue shorts totally wearable in my opinion. The color looks great! And the fit is not that bad… I would totally wear them as is. You are being too hard on yourself on that (as we all do sometimes!). Great video! Thanks for sharing! Take care!
You are right. After looking back at the footage, they aren’t as bad as I thought!
What a great idea!
Really love the denim shorts on you don’t see what you don’t like in them
Thank you! After seeing the footage back, I like them much more!
Thanks so much for this great video! By following along in my sewing room, I was able to finally get a good fit on these. Even though I am experienced in fitting, I like the way you presented it as it gave all the right fixes in a straightforward manner.
I’m so glad it was helpful!
Really like and appreciate your fitting demonstrations - Very helpful. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
This is so true! I have also noticed the importance of being comfortable both physically and mentally!
Nice walk thru of adjustments …very helpful 😀
My pleasure!

Finding modest suits that also fit her is really impossible! I’m definitely going to have to start sewing a couple up for her.
I love when you show adjustments, I needed this! TFS!
Me too! I always feel the urge to run into the sewing room when I watch Whitney.
My pleasure!!
Thank you so much for the pattern adjustment tutorial. I really need the extra in the back.
I’m so glad it was helpful!
Your skort is darling! Thanks for all the great tips!
Thank you so much!
Denim shorts are absolutely wearable! Very cute!
Thank you! I definitely like them better seeing the film back instead of just in a mirror!
Absolutely the denim shorts are wearable - they're adorable!
Thank you!
Excellent description of how you adjusted fit and why. Sewing for my mother, daughters and myself, fitting pants is different for all of us. Thank you for your techniques 🧡🧡🧡
It is totally different, even if you seem to share similar figures with your family members. There are so many variables with pant fitting!
Great tutorial! I am definitely going to try shortening the rise on my next project. This is the main reason why I don’t make pants-there is always a bunch of excess fabric in the front. I just didn’t know what I needed to do to fix it.
Oh good! I hope this works!
Denim shorts are absolutely wearable! 😁
After looking back at the footage, I agree!
Ok, this was sooo amazing!! Such good fit teaching!! It's probably also the most entertaining video, what with butt crack crawling, getting your butt fixed and losing your front Y. Loved all of it!!
I love the skort!!! I would like to see a demo of attaching the waistband to both??
🤣 if you would have told me 10 years ago I would be putting video of my butt online, I would have never believed you!
I have always struggled with getting trousers/shorts to fit as I have a long rise. This explains so many issues I have with short making and how to sort them out. So thank you.

This is a great tutorial! Thank you, Whitney! I agree with the others- the first pair look wearable.
Thank you!
You get more done in one day than most of us in a week! Great job. The fit is nice! That skort will get worn so much as you venture outside.
😂 it was a busy day of sewing!
Yes, the denim shorts are definitely wearable! We are always more critical of ourselves.
This is so true!
Thank you for this video. Definitely don’t bin the denim shorts, I think they’re fine.
I agree. After looking back at the footage, I think they are fine!
Whitney, I just can't thank you enough. As long as I'm below size 16 the rise fit perfectly; but anything above, the rise is way too long as I am 5'7"with a crotch depth of 9". The waistband method is great way to tweak that excess fabric issue once the pattern is cut out!
Wow the difference in the last pair!!! So interesting!
Isn’t it? I love pattern manipulation and hacking!
Only 15 minutes in and I’m guilty of overfitting trousers. I’ll tweak everything. I’ve just realised this summer that now I just shorten the front rise it brings the back rise too far forward - so adding to the front inseam/curve would help. Lovely to see Gidget.
Isn’t pant fitting fascinating? It can be so frustrating, but still very interesting!
This is a super helpful video for me (and I'll be referring back for sure). I'm a visual learner and seeing the full process from diagnosing to adjusting the pattern makes all the difference. I also had a lot of problems with the fit of this pattern and I am not a hard fit normally. I did trash it
Oh good!
Navy shorts look good. Worth the process and you will sew many more.
Definitely worth it as this has now become a TNT pattern for me!
Clapping my hands with excitement before watching the vlog. I taped together my pdf of the allegros at the weekend.
Oh good!!
I think the denim are cute. Fit is not too bad. Still watching! Thank you so much. These are next up on my table.
Oh good!

@@TomKatStitchery that's awesome, I think I have the upland trousers and believe it or not that's the name of the area she lives in! LoL
This is extremely helpful! I think the denim pair is quite wearable, also your earrings are adorable.
I’m so glad it was helpful!
I think the first pair are wearable but the last is super!! I think the fabric also had a lot to do with it. Absolutely loved this video. So helpful. Shows us how to just persevere with adjusting a pattern. I also bought the capsule wardrobe. So I’m excited also that she made us a special spot

Thank you for this video. Now to make my muslin!
Oh good!
Thanks Whitney. I attempted the Allegros in the past but have had fitting issues. I"m going to give it another try.
I’m so glad!

Wear the first shorts! The denim should relax. Thank you for your videos.
You are right. I actually liked them better on when I watched the footage back. They’re going to stay in my wardrobe!
👌
Now o have to get the pattern will be my first pair need pants and shorts, thank you
I'm glad you enjoyed this one!
Amazing, Whitney! So grateful for you and your channel!
That’s so kind! Thank you!
The first pair are definitely wearable, I love the cuff, color and length on them. Love the skort!
Thank you so much!
I think the denim are totally wearable for around the house, or doing yard work. I like the problems are you working through them for us.
I’m so glad!
I think the denim shorts are wearable. They look good. Thanks for the tutorial. Very helpful.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you TOMKAT10 lol . Happy Mother's day 💓
My pleasure!
This was so helpful-love the way u talked but also tried the garments on + showed how to make the adjustments.Learnt sooo much from this-Thank u
Oh good!
I like the first pair of shorts! Wear them💜👏🏼
Thank you!
Very nice…. And I agree on the fb capsule sewing section of the group, so glad she added it for us to share…. Love the idea of an allegro skort! The grading out for a thick waist is so helpful. I am never quite sure where to start the transition. Once menopause happened my waist basically disappeared 😕
I went into surgical menopause at 28 so I TOTALLY get it!
Thank you so much for showing how to do these adjustments. I am planning on making the Allegros but was so scared since I’m one of the ladies that need a different length in the front and not need to adjust the back. This is so helpful thanks 🙏
I’m so glad!
You are such a fountain of knowledge. Thank you for this
It’s my pleasure!
This was a great tutorial, thankyou so much
My pleasure!
Great video! Thanks for all the details on the various adjustments. I also like the denim pair as well.....just remember "best" vrs
"perfect" fit. Saying that, the blue shorts fit perfectly. And I appreciate a skort for outdoor activities well, so thanks also for sharing that.
You are so right! Its easy to get caught up with trying to get a “perfect” fit, which I always need to remind myself doesn’t actually exist!
Thank you so much for doing this video! I have followed your instructions to fit my vero shorts, and it’s worked! I’m on my 3rd pair and it’s a good fit now! Had to do the rise adjustments for front and back and also just another inch for front only. Your video really helped me understand!
This makes me so happy!

I think the blue denim shorts look just fine on you. They look good . Certainly better than an off the rack pair would. No one but you will notice the small criticisms you see. Wear them and enjoy.
This is an excellent point. I actually liked them much better seeing footage of me in them instead of just a mirror!
Great video. Very helpful. I can’t wrap my head around taking out fabric to get more room in the crotch curve. Thanks
It is totally counterintuitive. I had trouble wrapping my brain around that one as well!
Your denim shorts look very wearable. I love the color. Very cute! I suppose your comfort level will determine whether or not you wear them.
Thank you! Actually, seeing them on my body through the camera makes me like them more. I’m going to keep them in my closet for now!
Oh, that was so helpful. Thanks a lot
I’m so glad!
Thank you!
Let me know it goes!
I’m so glad it was helpful!
Oh I hadn’t realised that I needed to reduce the side seam when I’m shortening the front and lengthening the back crotch, as I was wondering why I had lots of fabric still in the front. Thank you!
My pleasure! I’m glad that clicked!
Great tutorial very helpful really appreciated thanks
Oh good!
They look great on you 👍.
Thank you so much!
Thank you for such a great tutorial! I also think that all versions of shirts look good and wearable 👍.
Thank you!
I like the denim shorts! Wear them!
Thank you!
Great video, thank you!
My pleasure!
Thank you for this very informative video. I needed the refresher on these adjustments. My adjustments will be to lengthen (I’m 5’8”). Looking forward to making the Allegro pattern. 👍👍
Oh good! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks Whitney! I just made my 1st pair of Allegro shorts and love them but need to tweak the rise so this is really helpful.
I’m so glad!
the pale blue shorts are definitely wearable. can you give more tips on widening a leg? same amount front and back of leg?
Typically, the back leg of a pattern is a bit wider than the front. However, if you are widening it, a good rule of thumb is to widen them equally (but the back will still be wider than the front). The biggest thing to keep in mind, is that balance is important so be sure to add equally amounts to the inseam and the side seam.
you are sooo informative, thank you.
My pleasure!
I’ve been cutting the waistband off a lot of my shorts and putting a yoga waistband on them. Love it! Was thinking you could do that on the denim ones to take care of the bulky waistband.
You can! I actually think Karina from Lifting Pins and Needles has a video for adding a yoga waistband to this pattern!
I think the denim pair are VERY wearable! Correct me if I’m wrong but couldn’t you still scoop out the back crotch on those now after the fact since you’re taking away fabric?
Yes, I could definitely still scoop out the back and it wouldn’t even be hard!
I think the first pair looks very Good ☺️ on you.
Thank you! Seeing them back when I was editing, I like them much better!
Whitney ~ this was such a great video! So glad to see the adjustments - huge help!! I vote the denim looked good on you :) Not sure how many agree, but I actually really liked them. That color is especially nice!
Thank you so much!
Three things to consider:
Perhaps make them very slightly less tapered to give more space between you and them? More slenderizing?
I would scoop a little more in the back where it looks like it might be cutting in.
The side seam seems to pull forward at the top, which in a busy world just hardly matters, but could you add to the front/subtract from the back to fix it? Thanks for all the work.
I think the side seam pulling to the front has more to do with how well I evenly distributed the fabric around the elastic, but if you have issues with non elastic waist pants, you could definitely do that alteration!
They are cute they look good on you
Thank you!
Wow, what a great video very helpful! Thanks.
I’m so glad!
I would definitely wear the blue shorts!! I love them, and they look pretty nice. :+)
I like all three pair, but the fit is better with the last pair-but they are all wearable!!
I think the skort is my fav!!
Thank you for the Gidget "fix"!! So sweet!! Yes, when they imprint on you-you both can emulate one another to a degree!!
Wonderful video-and you looked radiant!! :+)
Have a wonderful week!
Aww! Thank you so much!
@@TomKatStitchery You are most welcome~ !
Great info. I have this pattern so I need to try it.
Oh good!
Sometimes it would be nice if you used patterns readily available for most sewists.. Like the big four simplicity, McCall's, butterick ect.. You do such a good job explaining how to sew different parts of problem patterns
I have a few Big 4 pattern sew alongs on the channel, but I can do more!
I would wear the denim allegros
After seeing the footage back, I think they’ll stay in my wardrobe!
@@TomKatStitchery i agree with you. I don't wear shorts for that reason.
Brilliant ❤
❤️❤️❤️
This is so helpful - Thank you! I do have a question - what do you do about the grainline when removing/adding length to only the front or back? From the video, using the « pivot » method really messed up the grainline.
I totally forgot to mention that! Use the original grain line from the bottom half of the shorts and redraw it to the top.
That sounds very cute!
The denim shorts are totally wearable. If you feel the waist is bulky wear with a T-shirt over it. I would be really happy with them.
That’s a good idea!
This was very good!
What do you do with the grain line after you move your pattern at a hinge ?
I redraw the grain line in line with the piece I didn’t move. For instance, if I bring the top down to meet the bottom, I redraw the grain to match the bottom.
