I have to agree with you. I've been using Ryobi for years, Homeowner/DIY I have 3 drills, 9ft pruner, 40V String trimmer & Snow blower, Impact driver, Miter Saw, and a few others. They give the homeowner good bang for the buck and in home use anyway, they seem to be durable enough. The only issue I've had is with the 40V batteries failing due to allowing them to run down and overheat.
Agreed, I had to replace my set of battery-powered tools a few years back and the tool availability was a deciding factor. Overall, I'm very pleased with what I have gotten so far; drill, impact driver, all-purpose saw, circular saw, reciprocating saw, etc. Although I have to say the 1.5mah batteries should only be used in an emergency or for a flashlight. The only tool that disappointed me is the stand-up led flashlight. It's performance is pretty amazing, but the durability is lacking. The swing-up arm became loose, and when I tried to tighten it the mechanism broke.
I just got this because my Motor home has 1 1/2 luggs. I needed to check the oil level in my front wheels and first tried to do it with a breaking bar and almost $hit my pants and gave myself a hernia. This got all luggs with in seconds. I've used Ryobi "standard" half-inch (~300lb/ft rated) for occasional car work for years and rarely find a bolt it won't bust free. It's amazing how far the cordless impact tech has come, not even sure I have a use for something in this class.

Pretty much killed that amazing high torque they had, it isn’t the same without the octane batteries. I’m tempted to pick this one up. Seems like good value for a quality high torque, it would be my first high torque. Only impact I have right now is the M12 stubby.
Iv had my ryobi high Torque for since it was available on the market and it’s been beaten on a shit ton like falling off roofs left outside in the rain over night been run over with tractors and almost set on fire a couple times and it still chugs along like the day I bought it so no complaints from me especially with a abuse it gets
Agreed, I just got myself my first 6ah battery for the brushless grinder I bought and there is a notable difference between the standard 4ah and the 6ah HP battery. I also used the 6ah on the Ryobi compressor and it almost seemed like it filled the tank faster, but that might just be placebo.
Thanks for the information. I’m on the Ryobi cordless platform because of budget and their one + batteries. Bought the mid- torque impact wrench in a combo deal, it breaks away & tightens the lug nuts on my 1500 without effort. I’m happy. When I upgrade to a 2500 & my impact doesn’t do its job I’ll upgrade to that one👍👍for what you do
Torque Test Channel.. I was given some Ryobi cordless tools as a Christmas gift 3 years ago. I wanted to hate on them but they just work.. Are they the best? Maybe not but for me they work and people keep buying them for me. So until they start not working or they take a dump I will keep using them. LOVE TO SEE SOME TORQUE TESTING of PORTABLE CAR BATTERY JUMP STARTERS! You guys are really setting the bar when it comes to rating anything as most guys I LOVE STATISTICS and appreciate being able to have that confidence I’m buying the absolute BEST tool based on the numbers that are important to me. Once you start sifting through RUclips and are able to separate the other “Review Channels” that you question if they knew what they were reviewing as they’ve mispronounced the name twice and telling you how wonderful they love this product! Thank you for doing things RIGHT! I needed a jump starter this morning and realized that the 4 that I have were Le still amongst friends and family, so I went on Amazon because I hadn’t bought a car battery jump starter in a hot minute and was curious where the prices were at and what came across my screen blew my mind! There’s got to be 25 different brands which all say 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000 up to 10,000 AMPS! Prices from $28 to $1000. It would be cool if you guys had a way to torque test jump starters, be able to give the real numbers on how many amps and for how long those amps are useable in an emergency. I know a couple of the good brands which I have but there’s a couple off brands that I bet some of your followers would really value that content if you can swing it? Currently available for purchase on the Home Depot Canada site for store pickup or delivery. Good for anyone that's close to the border or lives up north. 9/21 at 12:50pm Est
Been using their standard 1/2" for 2 years now and it's still kicking, and has only struggled with 1 or 2 bolts over the years. Home Depot has this one on sale for 149 with a battery/charger combo, so I'm using it as my excuse to upgrade. I'll pass my old one down to my dad with a fresh battery.
I use ryobi to bolt together trailers all day 4 days at the week. I have used it since november 2021 and so far i the onley problem was a battery witch they swapped out at the store. I have nothing bad to say about ryobi. Eaven the co workers was supriced about the sorque on a battery tool it was more torque then a cord tool that we tested on the company witch is mutch mutch more hevyer. i have tested it on about 200 000 bolts and its still going strong.
Home Depot's got the Ryobi HP 1170 torque with a battery for $159 online purchase only I hope it's as good as this guy's claims it is it looks pretty honest legit guy doing this presentation
I can't believe Ryobi came up with a high torque and although it's probably good I'm on the rigid platform and the rigid high torque puts out 1100 ft-lbs pounds of tightening and 1500 ft-lbs breakaway, and that's hard to beat with a lifetime warranty.
Working as a lube tech at a Chevy/Cadillac dealership, I decided to buy the P262 impact Ryobi and it lasted for about 1 1/2 months, now I have to call and complain about it. The warranty is still active so it’s gonna have to be used unfortunately. But I’ll tell you what, there was never a lugnut that never broken lose. Every one that came in it worked, lmao
I have a few Mac Tools you could test if you'd like. AWP050 (I think) 1/2in air powered impact. HF compact 1 anvil 1/2in impact, and a few Mac Tools red version of the yellow dewalt impact driver and 3/8 impact.
Yes i bought the high torque ryobi with 2 hp batteries and hammer drill for 159 on Christmas special And I ended up taking it back and even switching brands bc it wouldn't take my lug nuts off that it tightened with me turning a 1/2 1ft socket wrench half turn it was junk
As of August 2023, You can buy this impact wrench with 4AH HP battery and charger for $169. even though I have a DeWalt High Torque impact wrench dcf899 , I bought this Ryobi as most of my tools are already Ryobi. I love the PBLIW01 so much I gave my DeWalt away to my brother.
Fun fact. I'm in Australia, pulled into the big box that retails Ryobi and AEG/Ridgid. Saw the Ryobi rep car and thought I'd stir him up about this one, turns out they're on the shelf down here!
I did! Rotating tires on my ram with the old gun is 4/5 out of 6 would come out easy but there is always one that you have to go forth and back with. This one ZIPs through with no drama.
Glad that I went with DeWalt when I recently replaced my ancient cordless tools. Their new DCD900 is only 70 bucks more than the Ryobi, and it's a BEAST!!!

I saw you tested it with other batteries in their line, but I didn't see the 8ah.
Why does everybody still persist with the friction ring? It does not hold tools as well as the indent pin or the anvil with a through hole. Is it perhaps that it is cheaper?
I just bough this last night and I’m waiting for it to arrive at Home Depot for me to pick up I got the tool for free on this deal for buying 2 batteries the value is at $200 and I got it for $99 but after taxes it’s a little more but it’s only a couple dollars more

Nice scoop! I was hoping the rumoured DeWalt DCF899 replacement the DCF900 would be breaking cover by now also, some of the supposed specs so far are 1000 ft-lbs fastening and sub 9 inch length.
Looks great! thanks for the review. I am invested heavily into the Ryobi lineup, so it's good to know that I have a competitive high torque option available now if I want it. I use Milwaukee but I have a remodeler friend that is heavily invested in Ryobi. He got his trailer stolen about 6 months back but was able to recoup quickly as the cost of equipment is lower overall. I'm always in fear of someone seeing big red in my Oddessy & liking it better that me.

It's also about how much you want to spend money on a nutcracker with? And there Ryobi beats most of the big brands. Then there is a Ryobi that releases 1600nm. But what's the point? Do you screw cars every day? Then you need a machine that can handle 1000 - 1600nm in turn? But as a home fixer, you can go a long way with a nutrunner that has a turn of 400-700 + nm in turn! These tests are fun to see, and between the brand Ryobi is at least as good if not better in terms of price, than other brands :)) More expensive is not always the best as many in this World Always think :))

Seems like good value for a quality high torque, it would be my first high torque. Only impact I have right now is the M12 stubby.
Hey Henry,
Did you ever grab a high torque impact to compliment your M12 Stubby?
Iv had my ryobi high Torque for since it was available on the market and it’s been beaten on a shit ton like falling off roofs left outside in the rain over night been run over with tractors and almost set on fire a couple times and it still chugs along like the day I bought it so no complaints from me especially with a abuse it gets
Would love to see this tested with a Ryobi 9AH HP battery!
I got this tool a year or so ago and it has been absolutely great. Ran across this video and glad to see that it does the job.
@7:13 after testing the Ryobi. The video chart runs to 675 and you said 675. But on the screen next to your torque machine you wrote 673.
9 or 6ah Ryobi pack? Instead of DeWalt jury rig? Curious how those fair
Ya, I don't see how 3 sets of 18650 VTC6 cells in the 9Ah battery can be beat by a single set of 21700s unless the BMS is current limiting the 9Ah.
@@CanuckTech In the Ridgid tools, the 21700s in the 3AH Octane pack outperform the many more 18650 cells in the 6 and 9AH packs.
Now I'm thinking about getting there 3/8 impact and this new 1/2 impact when it comes out.
Recently I paid $200 for m18 high torque open box.
$135 for m18 3/8 extended ratchet open box
$90 with one 5ah battery open box for fuel 1/4 hex impact driver open box.
And $25 for rapid charger open box.
Reliable Deals are out there if you shop smart!
Where are you finding your open boxes?
I just paid $160 for this exact impact with a HP battery

JUMP STARTERS!
Todd from Project Farm has done that for you already!
I have one of these, they are for sale on home depot's website in canada, have not put it fully through tests yet but I am very impressed.
I came here to check out the Ryobi.
I'm leaving to look for a used M18 😁.
The new Ryobi One+ High Performance Edge battery is available now! Would be great to see if it makes a difference for a tool like this (or equally interesting maybe their circular saw)
Agreed. I'd love to see this and the P262 on the dyno with the Edge battery!
I've had this impact for almost a year now . Verry satisfied . It's verry powerful torque at 600 ft. lbs .
Mine was delivered yesterday. I noticed they’ve shown unavailable online since I ordered as well.
No Jrod, you clearly also sold out to TTI like people are telling us as well! :P
I guess I just got lucky too 🤷🏼 Any plans to test the breakaway torque claim?
@@jrod726 Nah, we don't do nut busting because after talking to several brands there's no accepted practice. Some use electric load cells against a deflection bar to determine it based on force spikes (SBD), some use off the shelf bolts (Hikoki) some use custom bolt and nut rigs that look nothing like you've ever seen in real life (most of China and TW). We'll let Shop Tool Reviews do nut-busting tests for 'yall. Tim does a good job keeping things consistent
@@TorqueTestChannel It's hard not to review the most TTI tools, right? They've got so many brands, and they do a good job differentiating between them.
I LOVE THE TORQUE TEST CHANNEL!!!!
I have been using lots of the ryobi one+ tools for the last 18 year+ and they havnt failed me yet, but I don't use the same one every day like tradesmen do. I use a range of them each week and the first drill I got 18 years ago still works fine tho it is a bit down on power
The real question, how do we know this isnt future TTC sending videos through a Dalorian they took for a joy ride after torquing the tires?
Quick, locate this man and silence him!
Currently available for purchase on the Home Depot Canada site for store pickup or delivery. Good for anyone that's close to the border or lives up north. 9/21 at 12:50pm Est
💯👍 I guess I'm buying something again il never use.. wish this stuff was around 30 years ago.
Always love a good surprise dose of The Beans!
Thanks for the good review. I just ordered one as Home Depot currently has the High Torque with 4ah battery for $160. You can't beat that price.
Thats it. If you got the batteries just stick with the brand.
* claims to have that much torque. In reality it does not ever provide that
You should test those adapters to see if there is any power loss throughout the different impacts using them vs just the battery without the adapters.
They'd have to be real cheap on conductors for that to happen
I bought a ridgid high torque with a 4 max out put battery and charger for $199.00 on sale 3 months ago
you should retest the ryobi again with the new batterty the 12mah battery thats the newest battery
Need a couple of the 9ah Ryobi batteries, they make a big difference on my old impact, but adds significant weight.
I just snagged one of these labeled as "factory blem" in store at Direct Tools Outlet for $89.00 plus tax. Their website shows 209.99. What a deal!
Wonder what this would do with a 9AH
As of August 2023, You can buy this impact wrench with 4AH HP battery and charger for $169. even though I have a DeWalt High Torque impact wrench dcf899 , I bought this Ryobi as most of my tools are already Ryobi. I love the PBLIW01 so much I gave my DeWalt away to my brother.
Fun fact. I'm in Australia, pulled into the big box that retails Ryobi and AEG/Ridgid. Saw the Ryobi rep car and thought I'd stir him up about this one, turns out they're on the shelf down here!
Looking to upgrade from my old brushed p261 to this when it comes out.
Well did you?
Man, for the rare times I need a lot more torque, I'm considering buying this! I have a Dewalt DCF921 that generally does most of what I need, BUT I have run into walls where I needed to call family with a 2767. This thing is on sale right now from Home Depot for $159 WITH a 4ah battery! Sooooo tempting lol.
Just ordered mine.. i dont make money on my tools. For the 2 times a uear ill use it i feel its an awesome deal. Plus I already have 3 4.0 ah batteries anyway.
Def no brainer.
Goodluck
@@samueltorres7555 Yeah I ordered one last night lol. Now I just gotta steal a charger from my uncle lol, he owes me since I bought him a two pack of batteries and a fast charger on the Ryobi days sale. Now I just gotta keep myself from spending another $159 on the extended reach brushless 3/8 ratchet with another battery. 😬
Could you do cordless ratchets?
Those aren't impacting...
Try the greenworks IW24L00 impact wrench it claims 540 ft lbs, ... Its super compact, i own one and its barley bigger than an impact driver it seems about as powerfull as our gen 5x ridgid... Its also super cheap.. 99$ i got mine on sale for 72
Just picked this up for $149 with 2 x 4ah batteries a charger and bag.
In Home Depot Canada, it already available. It look exactly like the mid torque.
I love Ryobi, they are made by TechTronic Industries (TTI) just like Milwaukee in Hong Kong
The P195 battery is no longer available. Hasn't been for at least months. Maybe it'll come back?
Ordered one with a 4ah battery in kit from HD, $159. Next day it was $269. Haven't got it yet.
I just ordered the PBLIW01 from Home Depot, they are offering it for $159 on sale right now with a free 4ah battery plus Tax.
In June 2024 HD now wants $219 for PBLIW01 stand alone no battery. The one with 2 4Ah batteries and bag they want more than $300. You got a deal.
Just got this. I didn't really need it, but it came with 2 batteries, a jig saw and angle grinder for around $270 so I couldn't say no.
I have the Dewalt, and when I need a bit more power, I use their new 8ah battery I picked up with another tool. I can't say for sure it has more power, but it seems to rattle my hands a lot more! I picked it up used on ebay and only because that's the batteries I have. It's a little disappointing on your chart but mostly does what I need. Thanks for all your work! P.S. I saw you tested it with other batteries in their line, but I didn't see the 8ah.
The 6ah and 8ah Dewalt XR batteries definitley make a difference. Dabbling with that now
Why does everybody still persist with the friction ring? It does not hold tools as well as the indent pin or the anvil with a through hole. Is it perhaps that it is cheaper?
I just bough this last night and I’m waiting for it to arrive at Home Depot for me to pick up I got the tool for free on this deal for buying 2 batteries the value is at $200 and I got it for $99 but after taxes it’s a little more but it’s only a couple dollars more
That ridgid impact look very much like a Milwaukee to me.
i would love to see you test the husky H4480 air impact rated at 800 ft/lbs. from home depot . it's really hard hitting and only 114 dollars so a great value for the money.
Get an aircat. I think mine was like 110$ and with 1190 you get more power for your money
Nice scoop! I was hoping the rumoured DeWalt DCF899 replacement the DCF900 would be breaking cover by now also, some of the supposed specs so far are 1000 ft-lbs fastening and sub 9 inch length.
Would love that
Looks great! thanks for the review. I am invested heavily into the Ryobi lineup, so it's good to know that I have a competitive high torque option available now if I want it. I use Ryobi tools professionally as a mechanic, as do many of my coworkers, and never had reliability issues with them. Great stuff!
@@melsmobileservices I've got a soft top Jeep, always worried about that happening to me. The Matco stuff stays in the shop for fear of a crackhead with a knife. Tint those windows! Underrated security feature. Keeps passerby's from noticing that bright red expensive stuff.
@@Pauleh123 yes, factory tinted glass has probably saved my but more than once! My van is low key with only a personalized license plate making me stand out. I also try to stay out of the "hood" where them "stickup" boys be lurking, park close to my work, keep something on me.......just in case! I was a locksmith before a mechanic so I know how to keep watch for the looky-lu crook. I get a few a year that got a whole parking lot to walk but they gotta walk right near my rear hatch.
You guys are the bomb, love the channel & content! Keep up the good work!
Everyone always rags on Ryobi but hey it gets the job done, not too bad if I say so myself, I bought a set of Ryobi 18+ drill and 3/8 impact I use them both daily at home and at work, for 3 years now cant complain for the $100 I paid at the time 😂
Awesome video. Thanks for the nice surprise.
how can fastening torque be half of nut breaking torque? I thought it was like it take 20 percent less to break free a bolt not double?
Another great video TTC. I have two requests for future videos:
1. Can you test something like the Milwaukee 7/16" impact driver.
2. Can you include more battery variety in your future videos?
I'm interested in seeing how other brands perform with battery adaptors and the best batteries.
Good to see that even mid-tier brands are putting out the good stuff. Now if only Ryobi released a compact bandsaw
They have one, with a 2 ½in cut capacity, still a brushed tool but it exists
@@bread-gz3rl I wouldn't really call the two handed bandsaw compact
These torque figures are well past where I would be much happier with 3/4" drives - do you, or others, have suggestions why they're pushing the envelop like this?
you are a lucky one to get that as soon as you did. good looking out
I am interested in the Lion gun's numbers via its digital display against the numbers of your testing apparatus. I bet they are quite similar.
Hi I just bought the new Ryobi pbl 0 1 and I'm trying it with my old 3 amp hour batteries and it runs for 5 seconds and just shuts off so do I need a high torque battery for this I just ordered two 6 amp hour batteries can you answer this question for me, thank you Joe
These tests are fun to see, and between the brand Ryobi is at least as good if not better in terms of price, than other brands :))
More expensive is not always the best as many in this World Always think :))
Would love to see this with the 6ah Ryobi pack with 21700 cells
Would love to see this with the 6ah HP battery!
found mine on ebay new in box for 130 plus 9.95 for shipping.
Looks pretty good - might end up with this one over the mid torque Ryobi since it is not so massive for a high torque and not much more in price.
I am having similar thoughts. But important to buy at least one battery to help it perform optimally. Not sure which battery that is....the 3Ah?
Dewalt 5ah has 18650 cells, use a 6ah or 8ah 21700 cell battery and see the difference
since when is Flex black and grey ?
in my country they are black and red
Ryobi is a Mid-Duty y’all, it’s in between alright and excellent for heavy duty tasks. Y’all don’t need to criticize a brand or fan boys for having a good tool.
I've owned a number of Ryobi tools. But I've never owned one I didn't want to immediately replace with something better and more substantial.
Dang Ryobi really wants you guys to test their product!
Can't decide between high power kobalt for 280 with a battery and charger amd this gun for 230...
Ryobi is badass man, I just went with Milwaukee because there is a noticeable difference in power that I wanted but definitely didn't need. Ryobis price point is just hard to argue with for most people.
IR's new superheavy impact battery powered unit stomps everyone in the cordless market. 1700 ft pounds. >.> I don't have a need for it exactly but I still wants one. :D
A contractor told me that when u have all your tools stoled Ryobi is the only brand that u can go get them all back without breaking the bank . It happened to him twice so he switched to Ryobi
Should try the DeWalt with the 60 volt Flex volt that would be cool I run the flexvolt in my 20 volt tools and it makes a big difference
