- Detroit-based artist Noah Deledda sculpts aluminum cans into amazing works of art. He came up with the idea when he was bored and playing with a Red Bull can in the back of a car. All of his sculpting is done by hand. Once complete, the cans are displayed in an acrylic box and sold for around $2000.

I heard a story once about the value of art. A lady went to a renowned hatmaker and asked for a hat. He took a red ribbon and arranged it into her hair so the result was breathtakingly beautiful and astonishing, never seen before. She loved it and asked the price. @@sisbrawny I actually have to agree on this one, this is something that a machine can do easily, making his work easy to replicate and less of a art masterpiece like one that you will put in a museum but just normal disposable type of art
A thousand of these displayed in a hall with no description won't make anybody look back, but a nice painting, a contraptional art will be a lot more memorizing than this

What's amazing about this is not that he can sculpt an aluminum can using his bare fingers, but how perfectly symmetrical those shapes turn out to be after he finishes sculpting. Beautiful

Ladies and gentlemen, here we have an artist that gets custom made aluminum cans made for him that are thicker than the regular cans. That’s why, when we try to sculpt these without hands, they just flatten and cave in.
Either way, still cool.
One might think of the design, but that's actually impossible to make with your bare hands, as he appears to be doing.
No one will believe me, but he is using sorcery to mold these cans, among other things. All one needs to do is sell your soul to the devil and miraculous abilities conjure up - like the composer girl in Germany who speaks to her guides from the Underworld for inspiration or the magician winner from AGT who levitated cards, shifted ink and changed material using his lying signs and wonders.

Although I do agree that the can may be a "bit too costly", I don't think that you should say that it is trash and not art. Isn't art something that people create using their own ideas? Just because someone can make it quite easily doesn't mean that it is trash.

Doku. Doku it takes time for an artist to finish their piece, and by that time and effort and hard work it needs to be paid off. Depends on how you will see this type of empty can sculpture. I think its great..

Fake hand job. He doesn't show all sculpting process. Geometric patterns looks like tool made. There is no feeling of human touch. Just show uncut video of his work from scratch till end. Until that it just tool or machine made mockup. You can make it by using hard form inside and high pressure from outside. After that take out that form by melting or crashing it and seal the top.

I call Noah Deledda, the lost spirit of hope in humanity. His aesthetic escape is so strong that made him transform trash cans into beautiful columns. His work will have tons of repercussions in parametric architecture and generative geometry.

Actually, yes I would pay that much for an empty can. I'm not often impressed by art, but this guy has some serious spacial cognition skills. I started fiddling with a can like this once, but I threw it away after my break was over. I may just have to try this again. Thanks for the inspiration.

I personally wouldn't pay that much. Maybe half that, but thats just me. They're amazing works of art for sure, but the downside to art is finding someone that sees the same value as you.

I call bull shit on all of this. Even the videos where he is supposedly in fast elapsed speed (which is super suspicious) he is making zero progress, more less rubbing his nails over the already im assumin previous work done either with tools(not finger nails) or a machine of some sort im an unfamiliar with. Im just saying try this yourself, even heat up the can, i assure you this was not done with fingernails.

All I could think is that if he cut them down one side rounded those sharp edges and cut the bottom and the top off they could be awesome looking Roman/Greek style Bangles/Bracers or Gauntlets.
I think it would be better if you made the can twirl but not the acrylic box. It looks stupid. Nobody's display box moves.
sanding it is unnecessary. Pressure cook it and use nail varnish remover. Paint comes straight off. Then polish it.
