I see how he does it: He divides the first image into parts, then in the 3D software he individually moves each part back, staying perpendicular to the first image plane, at distances that draw a second image when viewed from a side plane. He can also get creative with the shapes of each part. Very clever!

This is what modern art should be, not framed "paintings" consisting of one solid color.

The ones with the uniform balls can be done very easily with a 3D modeling program, which you can see one guy using. The others can also be done this way, but not as easily. The more impressive ones have all different shapes, sizes, and colors of objects. The thing that would take the longest for most of these would be cutting the different lengths of string and placing them in the corresponding position on the grid.

The software used is sketchup. It is a 3D modeling software used primarily in architectural firms to model building/ floor plans. Honestly very easy program to use. But yes props to the software developers!

I read an interesting article about this concept the other day. It used some examples of well known works to demonstrate that just when you really get rolling; getting into the flow and pounding it out; to stop. Then go and do something else, and come back later. Stops the demotivation, in fact brings it back because you were doing so well and then . . . but where you want to go next can flow from where you left off if you put the break in. It works OK for me, hth :) and it's also very easy to do, you just . . . stop.

As an artist. Finding your niche is probably the hardest part. Because if you create an artwork, that ends up looking like someone else's style. Then the originator of that style might get credit.

Threshold in photoshop, get 30 levels of flat image, make into reality, piece by piece. Probably took him less than 1,000 hours, he hires other people to do it for him.

Really the technology is the mind behind the pieces, and the “artist” is effectively reduced to the hands or just a tool.
