This is my top dragon sculpture.
The work is made from an old Red Perfume tree.
My sculpting and video creation took place over 2 months.
I am very careful for this dragon sculpture.

I'm not a wood carver but I don't think the see a hunk of wood and visualize. I'm pretty they just plan before hand and look for a good hunk of wood they can use.

I don't know, dude. He probably practiced a lot, maybe his father is also a carver or his mother, I don't know. It's not that simple as "you either have it or don't".

When you want to accomplish anything meaningful you will fail many times. I hope to fail, I expect to fail, I know I will fail, but I won't give up. That mistake will teach me something. Why did it fail? Was it something I did wrong? Was it something outside my power, something that I can't control? Was I lazy?

If you had the chance to experience the entire wood carving process from start to finish, which part do you think would excite you the most: when the image first starts emerging from the cuts, or when the final details are completed, bringing the sculpture to life?
I think we can safely say that this was not done on a CNC machine. This master sculptor is skilled beyond any words I could use.

He probably prowls around the yard at night, since you put so much life into him.

I'll never understand how a sculptor can "see" a piece of art when it's just a chunk of wood - or stone. They truly have an inborn gift. Probably developed over several lifetimes.

I was always fascinated by ancient Asian mythology, to see it reincarnated from a tree trump makes me speechless and amazed at the same time.

I really appreciate the time and effort that you put into making this beautiful dragon from a piece of redwood trunk.
I've seen a LOT of crafting in years of watching videos online, but this by FAR blew my mind.
A few minutes into it when it started taking shape my mouth was open and I never closed it once. Truly a MASTER of your craft!
But PLEASE BE CAREFUL around your tools! My GOD when I saw you holding a piece of wood with your bare feet while using a chainsaw, I freaked out!! God forbid something ever happened to your master craftsman fingers!!

The attention to detail is stunning to say the least, especially it's suite of armor and contorted serpentine body. It leaps out at you with that look of concentration in it's eyes all tense and ready for action. The eagle like talons braced to tear anything that comes too close to that orb.
