Four Star Playhouse is an American television anthology series that ran from 1952 to 1956. Four Star Playhouse was owned by Four Star International. Its episodes ranged anywhere from surreal mysteries, such as "The Man on the Train", to light comedies, such as "The Lost Silk Hat". The original premise was that Charles Boyer, Ida Lupino, David Niven, and Dick Powell would take turns starring in episodes. However, several other performers took the lead from time to time, including Ronald Colman and Joan Fontaine.

The great and glorious Ann HARDING. So ethereally beautiful in the 1930's. My all time favorite actress.

I'd rather watch 4 of these shows than one 90 minute movie.

Wow what a Beautiful love story. It's so very rare that anything in reality would ever happen?
But I do a love story of first love that did happen.
It happened to my Sister after her first love left to make big in Hollywood when he Graduated Highschool.
She moved on, married another man a few years later and had a family.
Sixteen years later, her husband died leaving her a single mother of two teenagers and a four year old, when her first love reappeared in her life.
They were Married approximately three years later. This man treats her much kinder and more lovingly than she has ever been treated. They've suffered through the "Step-father" blues with one obstinate child, who was already an obstinate child to begin with. I think there's a hard headed one in every family.
With God on their side and in their Marriage they've persevered through the every trial that every other couple experiences. Love conquers everything.

If her husband died, shes a widow, not a single mother

Was this based on an old play written when Brooklyn was a separate city, before it became part (a borough) of New York?

That was in the 19th century. People who don't know NYC still think Brooklyn is very far from Manhattan!
