it's amazing to see from where you started and where you are at now my friend. i am enjoying your videos. hats off to you. greetings from suriname south america
Thank you so much!
thanks for the information..I am planning to buy BN 20 and I was planning to metallic ink..now I will take white ink options.
Thanks for the tip on ink setup! I have a unit and just getting started and was considering the metalic option, but chose the M x2 config. No longer doubting it now, thanks a bunch!
Yea I tough about purchasing the metallic but not!! Didn’t go for it, also the white static cling comes in a white roll so it depends on how they want the cling to look I have static cling and the roll is solid white so you really don’t need white static cling if you are planning on putting white on it, they also sell nice thin heat transfer at heat transfer warehouse that prints and feels amazing in the tees, I’ve own a BN-20 for around 7 years now so I’ve done some jobs on it. It’s a sweet machine. Thanks for the vid. 😬✌🏾
where do you get your materials for a better price?
Can u make a video diffrent type of vinyls pls
I'm subscribing just due to your involvement in the comments! Nice work!
Thank you my wife and I try :)
Just got mine Its a decent machine!
glad you like it, you can make good money with it!
GREAT info on the metallics!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Love the videos! I’m really happy I came across them. I’ve really have wanted to invest into getting one of these but I’ve been hesitant (more like scared lol) being that they cost $8k-$9.5k and well financing would be the only option for me. I’m a printer (heat transfer vinyl only at the moment) but I really want to expand my craft and offer more to customers. I would love to see a full process of getting a design onto the program and getting it printed/cut out (kiss cut/die cut style). None the less I subscribed and excited to get more input of materials you use and more info on the BN-20 from a small business perspective!
Thank you! I will be up loading a new video on materials tomorrow.
Tank you! I will try an put up a video showing design to print process
@@printshoptalk i couldn't find the video on materials. Also, you said wholesale vinyl and ink? I have my resell permit, where can I get these wholesell?
Hey. Probably the only honest review of the plotter. Just one question... How does it handle the markers if you laminate? Is it accurate?
Tomaž Koban I never laminate as there is really no need for what I do.
If you don’t have a resale cert. You can buy from Roland DGA store. It’s the calendared gloss vinyl. If you buy whole sale like Montroy, I just now bought a 54” roll and had them cut it to 2 pcs @ 20” and 1 pcs @ 14”. It’s half the price and it’s a higher quality with the 3M name behind it:) so far roland calendared vinyl is workin good but I will review the new material as it arrives.
Good idea! Another question, have you been able to perfcut? I want to cut the sticker and the paper for the complete cut but only cut the sticker, I think it is because I use Orajet paper 3164 Printable Vinyl 15 "-Glossy Finish Thank you!
I don’t think you can, I currently use a hp latex and a graph tech now so it may have changed
Love the video...I own a Roland TrueVis VG-540 and would love to do what you’re doing! Gotta a monster printer / cutter but no time nor knowledge yet to use it to its full capability! I am subscribing right now to you!
Thank you for your support, sorry i missed this comment! Hope you have seen my latest videos i just upgraded to a HP Latex 365 its epic:)
@@printshoptalk are you selling your bn20?
@@spilldabeanz we did a few years ago :( sorry it sold in one day. I know now its so hard to even find one on the market.
@@printshoptalkwhat do you have now? Same machine?
*Do other inks except silver print waterproof stickers? Or you still have to laminate those as well?*
It’s material specific. If you get a material that is inkjet coated it could.
Hi, great video. I'm curious have you ever worked out a combined coast per square foot or meter for your ink and vinyl? I currently outsource my stickers and I know what that costs but I would be interested to see a comparison to see if it is worth the investment. Any help you can give would be much appreciated.
I can’t find any 3M provider that will Slit the rolls for me.. who do you use?! I REALLY NEED HELP
Sorry the only person we got it from now has stoped doing it as well
are you basically saying a near on 7000£ print and cut machine has a pretty poor cutting operation . i wouldnt expect to have to buy a standalone cutter as this is the whole purpose of the machine to print and cut to a high quality
thanks for your video great content :)
Yes we did not know this at the time but we still recommend it as its half the price now. I would just advise to laminate. In the US i think this machine is like 4K and i see them on the used market for 2K all the time. But we did buy the machine and pay it off in 3 months with the work we where able to do.
@@printshoptalk so I was literally about to spend 4600 gpb on a bn-20 I mainly produce t shirt transfers and stickers after this it gave me another njdge to look further into it . Now I'm completely split between a bn-20 or a epson p900 & a roland gx-24 cutter
I produce mainly big orders and don't know alot about the running of the bn which was the reason for my answer .
Thank your for your response 👍
Hello from TikTok :)
How do you pick and choose jobs like your describing? Do you turn down customers that have the wrong kind of job? Or are you using some online job board for printers? Or?
Thanks for watching, we turn down a lot of work that we can’t do in house. I want to be the one to ensure quality and not a third party as I’m super strict with quality.
Can you talk more about software? Which one to design label?
Adobe illustrator
Link to the vinyl your talking about upgrading too? Please and 🙏.
It’s a video in my presidential members content area :)
Thank you for sharing your videos. What type of paper do you use for car decals?
We use vinyl I think in this video it was 3M
Quick question on washability of the solvent based ink on shirt? how many washes before you can see some fading?
Echo Rosales this machine will only print on heat transfer not fabric but that lasted at least 20 washes as I still got my shirt :)
got a question, are these stickers for outdoor? I realize that the uv kills the stickers really fast, any suggestion?
BTW , dont get white, it clogs, you can flush out the silver i heard, buy a cleaning cart and flush it before the silver kills your print head

Vinyl is what most/all stickers are made out of right?
It can vary but for the most durable yes vinyl is the top choice.
SO TELL ME HOW I CAN CORRECT THE " DESIGN IS CORRUPT" MESSAGE AND I CAN PRINT ON MY BN-20. ( YOUR VIDEOS ARE GOOD)
Sorry not sure about this as i never had this issue.
What file type are you trying to use. Have to use EPS PDF
I USE PDF AND THE BN-20 DOES NOT ACCEPT THEM BECAUSE SAYS THERE ARE CORRUPTED
Hello,
How do you work out the cost of each sticker?
Cost ov materials in and Time decided by sticker size

Hey, I’m interested in buying a BN20 or the A and I print a lot of clear vinyl reverse printing for interior windshield, my question is which printer will be the best for the type of job I’m running?
For a lot of white I would say the hp latex with white ink as it’s fasterz
Whats the max width on this ? i need a printer to print glossy vinyl art for my arcade machines at 24 in width. An image takes up the whole sheet for example (70 in length by 24 in width)
I beleave it was 20” with a 19” print width
Do you sell any of your artwork for the stickers? I have a Roland printer and thinking about selling some stickers at a local car show. Just don’t have the time or patience to creat some lol
I don’t as I print customers designs
I do! I do custom car stickers etc :) my ig is the same as my name here
Hello friend, tell me how much is the cost to make 1000 5cm diameter stickers?
Does it cut the stickers out for you? Not like kisscut but more like Can you adjust the setting to cut it hard enough to pop the sticker out of the vinyl?
It cannot without destroying the cutting strip and blade
Hello sir I want to start my part time work to start...

I didn't read through the comments but couldn't you print on "chrome" or metallic silver vinyl to eliminate the need for the silver ink?
Zumo's Garage yep found that out it just cost a little more.
@@printshoptalk Would you be able to print one-off decals for me?
I will contact you. I am a Graphic Designer and "print" my own die-cut decals but need to be able to print color.
Yep you can reach me at derek@sierrastickers.com

Check out our other videos on stickers we show them :)
can you for example if you print on transparent sticker paper make part of the sticker have a white base and other parts no base, so that some parts of the sticker is semi-transparent?
We dont
How much are ink and how long on average they last? if you want darker black add cyan.
I have one sticker i printed 3 years ago still on my fence :)
So it would be 3M for decal stickers? For cars? I’m scared they would fade away fast.
Vanessa Danielle we use different media and printer now but this is similar to what vinyl cars are wrapped in. All stickers will eventually fade but this is vinyl and last many years as it was developed for this type of application.
Hey! How do you price your stickers?
Hello thank you for your feedback, I recently ordered one but have not received it , I will be using the Siser easy print htv, what setting did you use to print and cut? Thanks 😊
I’m sure you will love it, small learning curve but ez once you get the hang of it. It was so long ago I forgot the settings but there are a few people that use them on my Discord (chat room) and every one seems to help out every one nicely 🔥. It’s a free app search print shop talk once you get the discord app
What is your favorite media for stickers like in the video? I can't seem to find a material that is thick enough for a stand alone sticker and does not curl. Love your videos!
We do a video in the Presidednt member section :) shows the material typs.
do you have an intro to kind of video?
Not really just kind of point and shoot
Hi im planning to get bn20 what type of material you use for this type of sticker?
Is the roland only runs on original ink? No refillable cartridge?
Correct only Roland ink and I would look directly at Roland’s webpage for material.
Video was super helpful thank you
Do you laminate the stickers? If so...any tips. I’m getting it hard time to laminate without bubbles or wrinkles
We do :) we use a cold laminator check out toolkits.com for there inventory
What 3M vinyl material do you recommend for decal printing?
I understand the Roland printer cuts the vinyl sticker contour, but how do you cut the final sticker to individual squares?
Bluedog International we used to cut it with a paper cutter.
Are your lighter colored prints dusty/ pixelated? Colors like light: blue yellow grey green red etc.
If you zoom in really close yes it will not have as high as a resolution and say a solvent base printer which has a droplet size of about half as the late text does.
What kind of computer would you recommend I get for the software?
Windows but it does not need to be powerful. In the beginning we ran it on a $300 computer :)
You mentioned the metalic one bleeds and needs to be laminated. Are the normal vinyl stickers you're making waterproof with this machine? Or do you have to laminate them to insure that?
We never laminated on the bn20
Hi... great video... can you print also on holographic vinyl...?
Sure can!
Awsome... been searching for a while now for a printer to this... Thanks
where would you buy the wholesale inks?
Felix Herrera Montroy in Sacramento:)

Hi Derick.
-Can I print labels with this machine?
-Can I print labels on transparent substrate (media) with white ink?
Thank you.
For labels especially on a roll which is what we wish we started out with I have a really good printer recommendation. We have used it and print it over 2 million labels so it’s a solid machine and I just keep buying more of them. You can email me for info. Alvaludesigns@gmail.com
@@printshoptalk Hi Derek. Thank you very much for answering.
I'm going to write to your email.
Thanks.
Joule.
I'm just starting out, man I wish I could afford this printer. Its 5.5k over here. Other companies I think need to produce smaller solvent printers.
I would take a look at a printer label paper and start with a plotter.
agree to what was said if u need smaller buy a3-a4 color pinter and print on em and get a cutter machines like above are for bulk color stickers, if you do 10-20 you dont need to sink so much cash to get started on smaller scale.
What transfer paper do you use for vinyl decals? I cannot for the life of me figure it out. It's either too sticky and ruins the vinyl or doesn't pick it up at all.
We don’t make transfer decals :) only vinyl stickers currently.
The non metallic sticker you are printing do you have to laminate them also? Or the color doesnt bleed?
we would recommend with this machine to laminate but for outdoor use where there will be no abrasion or rubbing like on a phone case you should be ok.
Do you use decal vinyl (calendered vinyl) which you have to cover so they can be transferred (clear application tape)? Or are you using a paper/vinyl that is just like a sticker that doesn’t need the clear application tape? I usually use the calendered vinyl for car decals, but I need to make stickers for the back of a computer and I’m not sure what I should use. I have BN-20.
We print on white vinyl so it does not need to have a transfer tape over it the type of vinyl we use is the same as a sticker application you peel it off and place it down just like a sticker however it is made of vinyl not paper
Name of vinyl for stickers??
Thank You.
What do u think about the durability? Does is need laminating?
Yes
@@printshoptalk My makerspace is looking to buy a new printer/plotter, probably the roland trueVIS vg2 series. I would like to use it for stickers, do we need another laminating machine?
What steps are needed to go from using regular ink cartridge to having to use metallic cartridges for a new job?
Nancy Tavares if you have already installed regular ink cartridges in all the channels you cannot go to a metallic ink cartridge unless you replace a lot of the internals costing a lot of money. However if you have a metallic cartridge already in the proper slot all you have to do is print a metallic color code in adobe I believe it is a while since I’ve used this printer as I now use a latex 365 however I believe if you choose a color that is named a certain name Roland will automatically identify it as a metallic color for instants if you put a blue versus metallic blue roll-on will automatically know
@@printshoptalk Holy shit, thats a huge sentence man.
Quick question! Can you upload multiple designs to versaworks and the software will place on the canvas? they would all be the same size but different images in the stickers.
could this machine make Bumper stickers? Ive been using a regular Epson workforce printer with pigment ink but i want to create professional quality bumper stickers. But the ones ive been making with the Epson WF, after a few weeks the pigment ink just becomes sort of a powder sitting on the sticker and u can rub it off. So im wondering if this would be a machine that i could print stickers for bumpers and not have that problem?
Yes defiantly and they are half price now since i bought it at 9K Its solvant based so you will need to have a window open or a door to the outside.
Are you able to do a die cut with the bn20
you can do a outline cut but you cant go through the backing.
For printing on T-shirt’s heat transfer what material do you recomend were to buy
Heat transfer warehouse
Hi, what a great video! I want to ask you something and I hope you can help me. my sticker business is growing and i want to invest in a better and faster machine than the epson et14000 i have. and asdemaa I need qeubsea ecosolvent. Do you think the Roland BN-20 is a good team? My approximate budget is 6000 usd, or do you think I can get a better printer for that price? thank you
I think the bn20 with CMYK is perfect for that I think new it’s 4500 don’t worry about the white or silver one.
@@printshoptalk THANKS

Hello can someone help me pls ..... i have Epson L3151 for home ,its injekt printer can i print on Vinyl ? i know i can print in sticker paper kind of vinly but the quality is crap ..... i got some Vinlys but i did a try on White but the collors didnt dry ... so do i have to chance colors on my ecotank printer or i just need special vinyl? or a printer like Roland :( ..
You will need a inkjet coated vinyl and it’s very expensive but it is possible jus not on normal vinyl.
@@printshoptalk Thanks a lot realy!! coated vinyl its not like sicker paper ? also
do i have to chance my colors also ? i got Dye do i have to chance into pigment ?
witch vinyl did you use?
I have a video I’n the members section on it.
I am planning to print and cut sheet stickers for kids for retail. Which do feel would be the best print and cut for this type of product?
O that is epic, i would say get a Graphtec sheet fed cutter and a good color laser printer
Hey there .... just wabted to ask once you have printed and cut your stickers are they ready to use or do you need to lay the sticker paper on it .....???
Hey bud, so as far as I know, (I’ve done a ton) not laminated but you can lay lamination on the sticker sheet before you cut the designs, so they last a few years longer without fading, now if you want for the stickers to last longer 5-7 years, then you got to buy clear overlay lamination roll for stickers and you would have to learn how to operate that function in your bn-20,
They have a video on that. So 1- you print the design, /stickers. 2- you apply registration marks on the the sheet before cutting and removing that sheet to apply the clear lamination on top. 3- you put the sheet back in to the bn-20 as it has sensors that read the points or registration marks on your sheet and it will then perform the cuts on the designs in the laminated sheet.
It is a process and I’ve would not do it as I do not really care to waist that much time on making stickers last longer. But it is of course available to be done on the bn-20. But to keep it simple just print, cut and stick them on where you or they want. So to answer your main question NO, you do not need to put anything on it. Once you print and cut you’re good to go. Blessings 🙏😬👍🏾
@@juniorisclean You mean 1st printing sticker, than move the paper to the laminate device with a transparent laminate foil, than move it back to the BN-20 and cut it, doing all positioning with positions crosses, right?
This is Sublimation ink ?? Bro
So sorry for the late response man we have been busy. No the BN 20 uses solvent ink, what i now own is a Latex printer you can check out my latest videos about it. Sublimation ink is i be-leave usually printed on a plastic like sheet and when heated turned to a gas and transferred to the product like a shirt or mug.
do you know if thick media is supported? there's this stuff called shrink film. you print on it, cut it, then bake it to make charms (pins in my case). the stuff itself isn't actually thick, but using a carrier sheet might add to the thickness. just not sure if the print head would be too close. i don't think anyone has ever made rolls of this stuff (it certainly is rollable), otherwise my only option is a carrier sheet attempt. also since this is solvent ink and not inkjet (pigment or dye), not sure how it would handle the media. the stuff is designed to bake, maybe it will be fine. but, i am also curious about the metalic ink. i wonder if it's possible to make pseudo enamel pins (obviously not enamel), just metalic gold looking color outlines, print normal color between. someone out there HAS to have tried this, would be awesome.
This I’m not sure if I have only ever printed HTV and vinyl
what vinyl brand you use?. solvent ink make curl after dry time. specially black edge cut.
All solvant based prints need time to cure at a proper tempture to (out gas) if not you cut "wet ink" and that is what causing the curling on the edges. Latex printers do not have that issue and is a huge plus in our industry.
I just got this printer, how much time should I allow to cure before cutting? I'm using Roland calendered. I set it for 30 minutes and it still curl up on the ends.
It takes a good 24 hours in a 70-80f temp
@@printshoptalk you are saying that after you print the image, you have to wait and go back and let that one image cut? That is crazy. What if you have other items you need to print?
@@spilldabeanz you need to print it with registration marks and load it back in the printer the next day. But if there is a white border you can cut right away.
Can it be printed sticker rolls?
Do you still have to laminate the stickers ??
we do for top quality.
can u switch between metallic and white?
if the white ink is used u still can print metallic collors on chrome vinyl if u dont use white as a baselayer....
No once it’s set it will require a full tear down or new head
“hey guys i need some advice, i'm thinking about buying the roland bn-20 because i print and cut but before cutting i laminate the vinyl, so in order for this to be possible on the roland bn-20 you need to print the crop marks, but i've been reading some coments that this model has problems to read the crop marks and by the time you put the vinyl back to cut, the roland has a hard time to recognize the crop lines and sometimes never does. So i would like to know if this is true, how often this happens anyways or if someone here has been through the same experience, thanks in advance!”
Sorry for the late response, I would definitely use a laminate for long term protection and YES it was so hard to reload this machine to cut. Its so tricky to get it to read the crop marks once it has been cut.
IF YOU DO NOT BAY THE PRINTER YET DON'T BAY THIS SMALL PRINTER,BAY A BIGER PRINTER I BUY THIS PRINTER, I WISH I WOULD NEVER,NEVER HAVE PURCHASEDIT.

Yes you sure can, it a little bit of a pain to get right tho.
@@printshoptalk appreciate you replied, thanks 🙏
What brand of vinyl do print on? Does it require to be laminated after printing?
Hi with the new tr2 ink it’s not required for sticker production but we still to to add that extra quality we strive for :)
How come, that youre using an inkjet, and your stickers are waterproof?
Im using an inkjet (a normal canon homeprinter), on vinyl paper, and mine are not weatherproof. As well, if u scratch over the stickers, the colour falls of. How resistant are yours? And why? :D because as i read, you gotta use a Laser printer to have a high resistance
The ink this system uses is a solvent ink. you can not print on vinyl with a standard ink printer.
What type of Sticker paper do you use?
are you near sacramento? do you laminate your stickers?
We are :) we only laminate our labels as our stickers do not need it.
Hello, where is it that you buy the paper? I only find it at 16 "and I want one of 20" perfect for my BN-20. Good videos!

For this vide we used Roland brand ink
Can you only use photoshop or is coreldraw ok? Can you share what the ink, paper, etc costs are...I've been interested in getting into this as well...thanks for any info.
I use photoshop for mockups you can see on my gallery at alvaludesignd.com and Adobe illustrator for edits or crearion.creation. I started with just the roland gloss calandered vinyl but now buy 54" rolls of ij35C-10 vinyl by 3M. Best you can by and it's half the price.
I always calculate ink at 1cent per square inch and media the same 1 cent per square inch. Buy at wholesale and use a resale certificate it all adds up

It worked good but I would also look at the hp latex 115 . It uses standard 54” rolls prints way faster and is so so much cheaper to run. Watch my other videos we switched over to latex.
U can do the same things as the roland bn20
Ok I search the hp 115 quick ? It comes with 2 one that print and one that cuts ..it doesnt print and cut at the same time
Hi, is this printer's color capable of being calibrated with a spectrometer ? If you print something again in 6 months do you expect the color to be the same?
I only had it for a delete months as it was paid off and I needed a faster machine. It did have ice profiles tho. So I would think you could calibrate it.
