I visited Japan a few years ago and got to have this for breakfast every day. I honestly prefer it to any breakfast I've had anywhere else. It's filling, but also gives you lots of energy for the day rather than making you feel tired and sluggish. And it's delicious of course.

In Egypt, we cook rice the same way, but we add salt and some butter or oil to the boiling water. I LOVE rice so much, but it's strange to eat it for breakfast. We usually eat it with cooked vegetables and meat or chicken for lunch or dinner. Rice is a must in most Egyptian kitchens. :) Spring onion is an important Egyptian ingredient too.
