My son is the first epileptic minor with twin neurostimulators. A DBS and a VNS made by Medtronic. The Vagus Nerve Stimulator was a game changer as far as us being able to rescue him from a seizure. Being refractory or DRE (Drug Resistant Epilepsy) we had no way of stopping his seizures until the VNS was installed. The DBS is a great feat of technology as well, but we are talking with some of the leading Eptologists in North American about moving the electrodes from the ANT ( anterior nucleus of the thalamus) to the CMT ( Central medium of the Thalamus) Just make sure your neurology team communicates openly and it consults with Medtronic as they are a wealth of knowledge and employ a team of researchers, doctors and scientists that we are so grateful for.
