1942 was a transitional year. It's not counterfeit. They switched from the regular copper-nickel planchets to the 35% silver planchets for wartime purposes. The 1942 S however is supposed to be a war nickel.
Hi, I have 2 coins that were returned to me as un-holderable because of pvc residue. When I contacted PCGS customer service, they told me if I remove the pvc residue with acetone it will not grade because it’s “cleaned” coin. Can you please advise me as to what to do in this case?
Wait? Are there two sets of 42’s? Type one and type two? I appreciate your vids because I wouldn’t want to send in coins for you to just return them but from what I’m getting from this is unless you have an extremely fine uncirculated coin or any error coin you are just out of luck.
Code 96 is No Service and typically reserved for coins and medals we do not authenticate or grade, like ancient coins. We will consider adding a video on the topic in the future. Stay tuned.
@@PCGScoin If PCGS does not grade ancient coins. Who does? And how far back do you grade coins? I have a half a dozen pfennig coins from Austria from the middle ages. Maybe as far as 1300? Thank you.
I have submitted a 1914-D cent with a peel lamination on the back. I prefer it to be slabbed since I paid a good chunk of money to be verified. But when I get it back from PCGS we'll see.
I have a very unique coin I believe , it's a 1998 quarter dollar has a gold colored finish. D mint mark that appears to be over something . what's very different is the eagle is stamped over The face and neck of Washington. And. The coin is covered in what looks like die breaks and dd every where some can be seen naked eye but most of it has to be magnified. The Eagle is even dd over the face of the coin with the 2nd eagle face being South in the neck of the eagle. Any one ever come across this error coin ?
I understand that you can use pure acetone to try and remove pvc, but do you think that copper is to reactive to do that or is that acceptable. Also I have a non cameo 1968 proof set from a coin shop graded by a company I have never heard of called AACGS. The slab is cracked and left the coins unprotected so I see some black and green specks on the fields and on the inside rim with magnification. Do you think it would be ok to acetone dip them and for how long at an average? I would like to get some coins graded and understand that they have to be pvc free, so I need some feedback on this. Thank You.
The really crude counterfeits are so cute! ❤😂❤

13:17 that’s an extremely crude attempt on re-engraving a 1893 gold piece

I know it's been a year, but whoever answered your call was wrong. Removing pvc with acetone is not cleaning in the slightest.
Does PVC damage fluoresce under UV light? Will PCGS remove same?

8:02 it can't be a mule ?
Anyone have any idea why an idiot would counterfeit a 1935-P wheat penny......?
Please can you add code 96 to this video.

@@stefanschleps8758 I’m fairly certain NGC has a service for ancient coins.
what if the coin has been cleared and the coin is 17 year old is it good to get it graded.
Bryan Kelly a lot of old silver coin has been gently cleaned/dipped.
I have a 1947 that appears to be peeling on the right side. The rest of the coin is in good shape.

I came across a 1991 yellow penny gold like. I kept it but I just assumed it got plated. And from what I hear a coin plated is considered damaged
