I know this might sound dumb but I have a 2500 Legalis and I’m gonna use it on my boat and off the rocks so yeah I’m pushing it but the deep spool really helps when it comes to the boat not as much rocks but the boat because I end up up using like 20-25 meters to get to those beautiful salmon and they run pretty strong so having that extra line makes me feel a bit safer. Just my opinion and what I use it for
Everyone has a comfort level which is understandable. Plus I know salmon run a lot so having more line is a benefit. For bass or walleye fishermen, this deep spool is not needed. That last 100 meter of line never seen sunlight. It would be nice for Daiwa USA to give a normal or shallow spool option.
Well one of the main reason Daiwa is preferred over Shimano is line capacity. I do agree with @LuRanOutdoors. 🤔, But at the same time you are correct when we talk about LT versions, they are not salt water reels and do not need huge line capacity. But I like when Daiwa designs Ultra light reels for large Salmon fishing which again you would need line capacity. I added two 4000LT of this models to my collections of reels.
If you ever look at Daiwa Asia models they have both Deep and medium and shallow spool for the same LT reels namely Legalis, Exceler and Fuego. That's the correct way of doing it, offering anglers more options. But I guess what if Daiwa USA can't make a good sale on a certain size and spool depth... I think they are just playing it safe. I'm gonna keep pushing Daiwa to make shallow spool models in North America. Deep spool essentially is getting you to spend more money on line which for a lot of freshwater anglers who fish for walleye bass and pike, the 2nd half of spool is useless. LT reels are made to be able to fish finesse technique so Deep spool is unnecessary. Great for salmon fishing sure but majority of LT users don't fish for salmon
I completely agree. That’s why I went with the 2500 instead the 3000 Legalis. I bought the XH model with the 6:2 ratio tho. I hate to complain about the spool size but it is what it is.
In the past 2 years I found a good alternative which is aliexpress. They have the Daiwa LT models in shallow spool and normal spool. Same price or cheaper. I stopped shopping local for about 2 years unless it's something I need immediately.
received my 2500 d lt xh legalis yesterday, and instantly saw the rotor was broken-separated from the column that turns it. there was no damage to the daiwa box or the cardboard box it came in. gremlin at the factory?
Thanks Vishnu! Yes for the past year this reel has been a fan favorite! I'm working on a new reel review video coming soon. If you like the legalis you're gonna like this one. Thanks for watching and commenting! It means a lot to me.
5000 has higher drag presses, more line retrieve per handle turn and a lot more line capacity than 4000. 5000 is 22oz that's very heavy. 4000 is 14oz that's 8oz lighter.... a reel that's 8oz is already heavy to my liking. I think 4000 can handle most fish already. But I suggest you look at Daiwa USA website and compare the specs. I'm don't fish ocean haha.
I have the Saltist 400o mag sealed I love it best reel I’ve ever owned I got it for $140 demo model for new one cost $240. I now have the Legalis 3000 can’t beat for under $100😊
This is a great review! I bought the 2020 Daiwa Exceler LT 2000XH last year before it was released in US. Feels as light as my Tatula LT 2500XH. The Exceler feels so much smoother and everything is solid and refine. Got lucky on this one. Paid only $89 shipped. Price may differ now. Would recommend the new LT zionV over the old ones if you haven't got one, I would still buy the old ones too if they are on sale.
Where in the world are you located? To my knowledge, the 2020 exceler lt only released in Europe. If they released the Zion V exceler in North America I'd buy it in a heartbeat! Good for you bud on the deal. I with they make a new exceler too here in Canada. So far I love my new and old Legalis! Cheers!
@@TTangOutdoors I think it is from Europe. I bought it from Waveinn.com the price is still pretty good there. Check it out. But if you're getting it, might as well get the 2020 Fuego LT instead. More bearings, better seals and magseal, and screw off knob for the handle. Well worth the extra $20 in my opinion. Get the 2500XH deep spool if you're going for walleyes and pike. 3000 is kinda over kill or maybe get both. I hope everything works out for you. Take care and keep up with the videos.
I see. I've always got ads from that website. 2020 Fuego is nice haha. Man I have too many reels now they all work fine still. I got revros, legalis and exceler. I personally don't like the deep spool the last 100 yards of line barely gets used at all for my walleye and pike fishing. The normal spool like the Revros is perfect for my 10 lb braid. Thanks buddy! I haven't uploaded for a week. New video coming soon!
Excellent comparison. The deep spools is what I like, perfect for my type of fishing. Overall I like my new Daiwa Legalis 4000D-C, I caught a few shaker Halibuts, it does well. Hoping to catch a keeper soon, let alone even that Monsta Halibut from shore. One of these days, I would like to eventually own the Daiwa Certate 4000D-C.
@@TTangOutdoors Yeah it's so fun fishing for Halibut, you would luv it. I don't use bait fishing for them, I lure for them offshore, so far I caught 28 HALI shakers, I've been hunting for them very hard lately, it's just a matter of time I feel until I catch that keeper. As for the Legalis, hopefully it holds up over time, but if it doesn't I always have back up reels, from REVROS to Exceler, my plan is this, use these 3 spinning reels up for a while, then I will invest in that Daiwa Certate Lt 4000D-C.
Wow impressive catches! By the sound of it, I almost think you should get a Fuego or Ballistic just for protection from salt water lol. You already spent that much for non magsealed reels
@@TTangOutdoors Yeah Thanks, something about those Daiwas I like alot. I will do my homework on those other reels you mentioned for sure. I luv all type of spinning reels & bait casters. I have the Quantum reliance spinning reels, those are mag sealed I believe and are built tough for saltwater, I've been using my Daiwas more often though lately because of the slower gear ratios they posses in which I feel it's the perfect speed when I retrieve my lures in for them Halibuts.
@@TTangOutdoors I just researched them both, they both look very nice, I like the Ballistic 4000D-C, coming in around 7.9oz and at 5.2:1 gear RATIO. Wow, impressive.
Handles are the same length. Actually line per crank doesn't depend on handle length. It depends on gear ratio and the size of rotar. The XH stands for extra high gear ratio of 6.2:1 meaning for every crank of handle the rotar turns 6.2 times.
Hey Raymond. We don't have Freams in North America. But I did some research on Daiwa Freams 2018, it has Magsealed so it's saltwater proof which is better than 2021 legalis. Freams has the 1 peice screw in handle which in my opinion, is better than the legalis folding hex shaft inserted handle. However, 2021 legalis is lighter in every reel size than 2018 Freams. For saltwater use I would pick 2018 Freams. And Freams is more expensive than the Legalis. 2021 Freams just came out with the new Zaion V material which lowers the weight a bit. For my light freshwater use, 2021 legalis is perfect for me and it's inexpensive.
I got the 4000 DC on a 10'6" rod for red tail surf perch at the coast fishing from the beach and just ordered a 2000 D for bass fishing there smooth reels for the money.
Nice! I bet there's enough line capacity on a 4000 size. And hopefully the new reel frame holds up better. Not sure how long it will last in saltwater since there's no seal on the reel. Oh yeah 2000D is gonna be good for finesse fishing. Recently I've caught walleye and big carp on my 2500D, it was smooth and powerful enough to handle big carp runs.
@@TTangOutdoors I started a RUclips channel also. I like watching myself fish also just to see the catch all over again and to see if I can learn from it by doing something different.
I saw your bass and shad video! Keep it going man you have some great fishery there. Whatever it takes man, we're all trying to improve. I learned fishing pretty much from watching RUclips.
i understand wanting shallower spools but the d spools look normal to me i guess because i also fish vintage spinning gear witch it's way less common to get or even have a shallow spool because of how much thicker it was the mitchell 300 spool is deeeeep af in comparison (yes they have shallows i had a shallow it broke tho)
People don't wanna change just because.... and companies don't wanna take risk by changing so that they lose sales. But if you really think about how much line you really use in fishing.... reality kicks in... and the truth is for a lot of lure fishing freshwater situations you don't need the last 150m of line in your spool ever.

I find that weird that they put T knob on 2500.... on this new legalis the 2500 and 3000 share the same handle. my assumption is they wanna save money because the 2000 size handle is smaller than 2500. Instead of making 3 types of handles for 2000 2500 3000, they just have 2 types of handles lol. Daiwa USA has been slacking on the sub $150 LT reels for the past 2 years. Exceler and Fuego didn't get the Zaion V update.....
Good comparison man! I have my eyes on the 3000 I think. I like having lots of line. Haha.
Then you should consider daiwa reels in the future. They are all deep spool for the 100 dollar plus models

Not sure what exactly could be the reason. That's bad luck man... poor quality control on Daiwa. Or could it be a returned product?
The 3000 will cast further than the 2500 with less effort because of the spool diameter
That is true Richard. I could notice it with braided line on my 3000 legalis and 2500 exceler.
