It's my goal to be able to cast the entire spool off. I'm still learning how to improve my distance. You mind sharing what kinda line and rod and brake setting for casting that far? I'm sure there's a lot to do with casting motion and skills but just curious about your setup

There's some huge fish in this lake for sure! I caught a 28 inch walleye last year from there.

For freshwater bass or pike fishing I would recommend a Medium or Medium Heavy 6'10 or 7' rod with low weight. Obviously it can be paired with other kinds of rods it really depends on what lure you're throwing what kinda technique for what kind of fish.

Depends on what kinda fishing environment and what kinda of fish you are targeting. That max steel in XH might be a bit to heavy for this reel. This reel is super lightweight at 5.5oz. I would suggest pairing with the Royale legend pro or Royale legend 3 rod on Aliexpress. Color match plus the rods are lightweight

These bass spawn heavy by the end of June and you can sight fish them from a kayak in shallow. The creek can be fished from May to October. But best time is when the weed is thick and healthy and that's from end of June to September. If you stay in the middle part of the creek your propeller shouldn't get caught up in weeds.

I would suggest 3000 or even 4000. PE0.8 is great since this reel doesn't have a deep spool.

Hey that's fair man! Personal experience is the most convincing factor when it comes to brand loyalty. I'm a Daiwa fan boy but sell Shimano gear cuz people love them lol.

There's definitely a decent improvement on the grinding noise from the 2020 model but yeah it's still there...

There's another thing,the line Roller on mine was not spinning very well so I get rid of the grease and use oil,be extremely careful tightening the screw,mine snapped without even putting pressure!!!! They using different screws now but they are absolutely shit!

Comfortable for me and that really depends on your hand and everyone has different hand size

@@TTangOutdoors The original ci4 was very comfortable but the 2020 vanford the foot seemed to have less space much more of a bend coming off the foot to reel which caused the problem for me

Less room around the reel seat can cause discomfort for bigger hands for sure. I don't have huge hands. I can't palm a basketball.

What's the number of lb. drag are you expecting? 100 or 150 size Daiwa casting reels have always used 9 to 13 lbs of drag. My Tatula CT does have 13lbs and I had no problem fighting a pre-spawn 44inch pike. 11Lb was pretty good for my bass and walleye fishing. My Tatula elite (11lb drag) caught lots of big pike too. And Daiwa drag is pretty smooth too.

@TTangOutdoors The problem is evidently not only the poundage but the material itself. Ever hear the words herky jerky drag? That's exactly what the newer 11 lb. drags are. And yes, I'll take a 13.2 lb. drag over 11 lb. any day of the week!

@TTangOutdoors I got a Coastal SV TW 150XS reel. Actually two. If I had known, number one, that these reels had an 11 lb. drag, I would NEVER had bought them. I have 4 Tatula TW 150HS reels with the 13.2 lb. drag and I love them. The only bad thing about these reels is they don't come in a 8.1 gear ratio!

@floydmayes4924 I know some shimano baitcaster reels have different drag for different gear ratio. Low ratio has higher drag than high gear. There's gotta be a physical reason to that.

Thanks for the comment! It's an encouragement for me to continue put out contents. Yeah I'm a reel nerd and I do like to get into details that most people don't. I was out fishing on my kayak with this reel and I can say.... Kastking did a fantastic job on it. Such stable cast and long casting too! Feels almost like the much more expensive SV Boost reels that have that extension of distance towards the end of the cast. Palming feel not the greatest due to the brake side plate sticking out... also retrieve feels a bit geary. But casting is superb!

Adjusting the MagForce brake dial wouldn't change the fall rate of the bait. Assuming you are standing and just opening the clutch and let the bait free fall. It's the tension knob on the handle side that control the spool tension and fall rate. With the Tatula 100 you need to set the spool tension to zero position. If it's the Tatula CT then the tension knob is not factory set. If it's Tatula TW 100 then the spool tension comes factory set. Anyway you can look up how to zero adjust Daiwa baitcaster. 3/8Oz is pretty much what the Tatula 100 is designed for. So did you mean the MagForce dial or spool tension knob?

@@TTangOutdoors I meant the magforce adjuster, the reel was used, so I just adjusted the tension one tocwhere the spool has slight side to side play, thanks so much!

Try not to adjust spool tension. An expert thumber will always get more distance. Just try lowering the brake first. I was able to cast 40m with brake 6 without thumbing. Lowering the spool tension will require more thumbing.

Nope no more 1000 but there's 2000 size in North America which is essentially a 1000 body with a slightly bigger spool. Also Shimano Japan offers C2000S size which is even closer to 1000 and that shallow spool will benefit for your trout fishing I assume you use thin line and close distance casting finesse fishing.

What are you going to do since theirs no more 1000 ? Because I was looking for it too but it seems they’re not making it also can’t you just get the 500? it can still be used for trout correct me if I’m wrong?

I’m getting into fishing and after doing some research I wanted to buy the Vanford fa 1000 but since you said their isn’t a 1000 I was thinking a 500 but now your saying I shouldn’t so what should I do ? I saw that you recommended the guy a 2000 in North America I don’t know what that’s supposed to mean if I’m being honest but while I was doing research I saw that that’s too big for trout so I don’t know what to do. Great question as these 2 are the 2 reels I use currently. I have to say the Fuego SV is a gem for only $100, the SV spool alone makes it comparable to the 33mm older Tatula SV TW casting wise. Tatula 100 has a much better cranking feel thanks to the hyperdrive design. But casting performance I would give it to Fuego SV when it comes to easy of cast and not worrying about backlash. It can handle lighter lures under 7g well which the Tatula 100 struggles. 100 is for long cast and heavier bait. I have to be honest, I tend to reach more for the Fuego SV this fishing season.

They are both good for those weights but Tatula 100 is better than fuego SV for heavier weight. Fuego is a light casting meaning your casting motion needs to be more gentle.

Yes you definitely can use a medium power rod for it. Even MH is fine as long as you pair with the correct line.

Any first generation Tatula 100 or 103 models would have the same bearing. Tatula CT, CT type R, SV TW 103. Aliexpress should have the right after market spool just needs to be 33mm spool.

If you ever look at Daiwa Asia models they have both Deep and medium and shallow spool for the same LT reels namely Legalis, Exceler and Fuego. That's the correct way of doing it, offering anglers more options. But I guess what if Daiwa USA can't make a good sale on a certain size and spool depth... I think they are just playing it safe. I'm gonna keep pushing Daiwa to make shallow spool models in North America. Deep spool essentially is getting you to spend more money on line which for a lot of freshwater anglers who fish for walleye bass and pike, the 2nd half of spool is useless. LT reels are made to be able to fish finesse technique so Deep spool is unnecessary. Great for salmon fishing sure but majority of LT users don't fish for salmon

Great choice for the first bait caster! Mine is still kicking after 3 years. I do recommend you oil the spool shaft as daiwa reels usually come dry. Enjoy!

Yep same with the one one in this video it's brand new never used. Smooth but grinding sound. 24 Vanford improved on that issue
