    Cool vid, man. My favourite cab from the selection here was the powerhouse 4x10/1x15. It was also really good to hear the subway's here, which all sound in a similar tonal family - which is cool.
    I've just bought myself a WD800, after trying one nearly 2 years ago and waiting to find a good deal. My original plan was to get the Subway 1x12 and 1x15, as that's how I've demo'd it a few times. However, I have an Eich 112xs at home and plugged the Mesa into that... sounds absolutely beautiful and very... natural?. Only thing I don't like about the Eich is it's rear-ported. I'm still going to get a Subway cab to compare.

    The Orange OBC115 is another great sounding 15“ cab. 115 is the best standalone option imo for a variety of genres as it has enough bottom end on its own while also delivering nice mids and isn’t too bulky

    Was quite surprised how well balanced the 15" cab was. The 212 sounded a bit more loose or less definition than the 115 or 210 cabs. I have the Powerhouse 212 and its something i've noticed with it compared to my Berg HT322 which has a 12" & 2x10's . Think for me i'd probably go with 115 & 210 cabs together would be my preferred mix. The 15 definitely surprised me and the mids were nice and not bottom and top end like other 115 cabs i've tried over the years. Great demo vid. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

    I love a good 1x15 cab, but after starting to play electric bass and upright bass doubling gigs, I found the best speaker size for me was 1x12 cabinets. I'm currently using 2 Peavey Headliner 1x12 cabs for louder live shows, and have a Euphonic Audio M-Line Wizzy 1x12 for lower volume shows. I hate to be contrarian, but I didn't like the sound of the 8x10 (or most 8x10's I've played through) and I certainly dislike having to haul 8x10's around even more! 😄

    Very informative video. I have a Hartke HD50 with a 10" speaker and a Gallien Krueger Backline 115 with a 15" speaker and they sound different from one another. I have most of my basses wired in stereo and run the neck pickup through the 15" and the bridge pickup through the 10". I use a Lehle Little Dual unit which corrects the grounding problem when using two amps from 2 separate pickups and it allows out-of-phase use also. I plan on buying an 18" speaker and trying it out.

    • @robertellison4691
      @robertellison4691 3 года назад

      @@IvanBassist Yes, but instead of two output jacks, I have one stereo jack and use a stereo cable ran to the Little Dual box. You can set the tone for each pickup and amp separately and even use different effects on each at the same time. It does require the use of 2 amps, the Little Dual, stereo cord and the modification to the bass wiring.

    Do you think in a recording situation that a Mesa Subway 1x15 would sound much different than a Subway 2x15(but just close mic'd on one of the speakers) , Or would the main purpose of the 2x15 be sheer volume and projection in a live setting? Im going to be buying one or the other for part of my recording rig, and when I try the two notes emulations I love the 2x15 (with just one mic) , but Im skeptical how different they would actually sound in real life if you were just micing one speaker. Any ideas what you think the sound difference would be? There are also other reasons Im considering the 2x15 , but for starters Im just trying to figure out what the character of sound would be between the two cabs(again, when just micing one of the speakers lol) ...

    • @IvanBassist
      @IvanBassist  3 года назад

      Hi James! My best guess would be that the 2x15 might sound a bit different because the mic could pick up some of the sound of the top/bottom speaker. I doubt it’d be a HUGE difference, though

    Really shocked with the sound of the 1x15. Sounded really balanced especially when I thought it would of been very muddy too.
    But I personally think the 8x10 sounded the best to my ears, had great compression and fit right into the mix every time.

      Hey! Thanks for watching :) With all due respect, that’s not really possible because both the Subway 212 and 215 have vertical speaker setups. The 210 is the one that has diagonal speakers :) www.mesaboogie.com/cabinets--simulators/bass-cabinets/subway-series/index.html

    All my cabinets are Mesa Boogie. I’ve got the super rare 4X12, 1X15, and the 4X10…. I wish I had the powerhouse 1000 with the 4X12 and 1X15 combination…. It just sounds better. The sound is well rounded. All my amps are Mesa Boogie also. Mesa Boogie M9, Mesa Boogie 400, and the powerful Mesa Boogie 400+ . I love the metal grill of the Mesa Boogie cabinets because of my cat. No tears

    I’ve never like 10’s for bass but that 4X10 with 1X15 was nice! My favorite was the 2X12. It sounded like 1X15 with a tad more bite and volume.

      10 or even 12 alone is weak cab. It can be used only at home. But 410 sounds good, also 1x15" sound great. I have never tried 2x12 but it might be interesting.

    Really like the sound of the 8x10 sim! That said, I own the 1x15 and you can easily get that tone by cutting out some 800Hz and boosting the bass slightly. All of these sound great though, have their own character.
