    Nice video, Ivan. Rocco told me that, in addition to playing ghost notes and left-hand muting, his EQ is all about bass and treble; no mids to speak of (check out the baked-in EQ on his signature amp).

      Nice! You mean his TC amp signature amp or generally speaking back in the day? :)

      @@IvanBassist Sorry, when I referred to his signature amp I meant he amp made by TC Electronic. I first met him in the late sixties, and back then his tonal preferences were much the same; deep, percussive bass with enough treble to emphasize the attack of each note and assure he can hear the pitch of each note clearly.

    Nice vid Ivan. This is an interesting technique and I've seen Rocco do this, the first time I was totally confused because he was all over the place with his left hand. Produces a nice thumpy, funky tone though. Thanks for sharing.

      Yeah. It’s a great technique! It also works great for reggae or rnb/soul

    did rocco prestia use flatwound strings?

    • @IvanBassist
      @IvanBassist  3 года назад

      I’m not sure, but it helps with the thumpy sound. You can definitely get pretty close results with rounds, though

    You’re doing the riff wrong : ) you repeat two notes instead of going chromatic. But you nailed the dampening for sure.
