The Book of Vile Darkness was one of my favorite supplements to use when I was a DM for 3.5. I used some of the ideas inside of it (mainly addiction) when I was making one of my own games many years back. The old supplements were so much better than what we have these days.
The book of Vile Darkness was a great addition to the 3.5 range and I have opened it a handful of times since. I personally think a few of the subjects could have been hashed out a little more but understand why they limited discussion to what they did as even with a stickered warning you can only get away with so much. BTW, I only recently discovered you guys and I'm liking what I have seen so far. Thanks for sharing, keep it up.
The BoVD is a great book and I still use it was a resource today. The spells in the book were for evil characters only in my campaigns and it was considered forbidden knowledge in game. It is also good example as to how much WOTC has changed and not for the better. They would never produce a book like BoVD now.
True, the game has moved a long way from those years. Labeling something as adult content just doesn't mean the same thing today as it did 20 years ago.

I have a copy of the BoVD, nut I've never used it. It's been a long time since I've looked at it. Time to dust it off.
