Hi. I want to go back to church. Some of my family turned away from it after hearing some bad stuff about Joseph Smith. I did some research and I prayed about it and I had an amazing experience. I know the church is true. I'm praying my family finds the way too. Thanks for the videos.

''after hearing some bad stuff about Joseph Smith.''. The anti-Mormons have been saying Joseph Smith is a false prophet because he didn't translate the Book of Abraham Egyptian documents the way the Egyptologists say. One by the name of Paul Gregersen debunked the Egyptologists by clearly demonstrating that the translation from Joseph Smith was never supposed to be seen as being translated the way the Egyptologists say to begin with. In other words, Joseph Smith was right, the Egyptologists were wrong. Paul Gregersen debunked the Egyptologists back in 2014. Though not even one anti-Mormon, in each one's case, when coming to find out that the Egyptologists have been debunked will admit to it though. Not even a single one will admit to it. Not even a single one. Beware of those who say bad stuff about the church. As not even one anti-Mormon will admit the Egyptologists have been debunked.

Isn’t it wonderful how the Lord is responding as we reach out to him and inquire about truth and even learning and understanding points of his beautiful doctrine. I know that this church is right and true in all of its doctrine and principles and that it is being led by the Lord Jesus Christ through his prophets and apostles. I have a strong testimony of the power of the priesthood and I have witnessed miracles through giving priesthood blessings. I find it amazing that even though we are imperfect, we can serve in his kingdom through callings we receive in the church, and I am amazed how it helps us grow and progress! :-)

Hi Brother, enjoy your videos. This is 3 years old, but I was drawn to it after watching Pastor Jeff's video today regarding our non-use of the cross. I recommended your video to him as I thought this video covered questions he asked, but did not have answers too. Hope he checks it out. If so, I’ll let you know. God bless.

The Eastern Orthodox cross is also called St Andrew's Cross and is primarily used by the Russian Orthodox Church. Interestingly the bottom bar slants to the left of Christ as it indicates the thief to the left of our Lord that didn't repent...the " good thief" to the right ^goes up^ to Paradise....

I enjoy your videos. I like the way you present things. Lots of quotes with dates, etc.
As I was watching this video, Thoughts that came to me are :
    1. At one point it is allowed to chew tobacco in church. Then its suggested in the Word of Wisdom not to. Then it’s not allowed. The Lord and his prophets bring in doctrine at a pace that the saints can obey and understand. Perhaps the cross applies to this too.
    2. In my studies of the scripture it’s very clear that the Lord does not want us to worship things that are made by hands. I do believe the cross is a symbol of Christ but it can easily be used to worship. Ironically, if you look from a birds eye view of some of the our temples, you can see a cross. Check on Google Earth.
    3. President Nelson has told us that the Church is not fully restored. This thought could be related to No. 1.
These are just my thoughts that your video got me thinking about.

In the San Diego area a lot of buildings have crosses because the Church bought the church buildings from other churches. My chapel in El Cajon has a large cross representing Jesus with 6 other crosses around him on each side representing His apostles. I love the imagery of the apostles there with Him because we can apply it to our day

Do you think it's okay for a member of the church to wear a cross necklace? I wear one sometimes myself.

Before I share my thoughts, let me first share a few helpful paragraphs from an Ensign article written by Elder Gregory Schwitizer of the Seventy in the July 2011 Ensign, entitled ‘The Meaning of the Cross for Latter-day Saints’:
“All of us have passed by churches that have a cross on their steeples or cupolas, and we’ve all seen people wearing a necklace with a cross, indicating they are Christian or a member of a certain Christian denomination. Some of our new members may even continue to wear a cross, feeling that it connects them with their past or other religious traditions.
We may wonder why we Latter-day Saints don’t place a cross on our churches or wear a cross to show that we are Christians, thereby making it easier for others to identify in whom we believe. Is the cross important to our faith?
The answer is an unequivocal yes! The Redeemer’s suffering on the cross is vitally important to us and is an inseparable part of the Atonement, through which He suffered and died for our sins and thereby provided us with a clear path to salvation and exaltation. The Savior was clear when He stated that in following Him we should take upon ourselves a cross-not the Roman cross that was the instrument of death but our own cross, whereby we present a sacrifice to the Lord of our own heart to be obedient to His commandments.”
Then towards the end of the article he shares:
“We should all carry the testimony of the Atonement deep within us. The blessing of what happened on the cross is witnessed in our behavior, our families, and our standards. We are Christians in the true inward sense, and we display Christ to the world through our lives, our message, and our love rather than through a symbol whereby we are identified.
In the process, we follow Jesus Christ’s admonition to hold up our light. “Behold I am the light which ye shall hold up-that which ye have seen me do” (3 Nephi 18:24).”
Here is a link to the full article: www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/ensign/2011/07/the-meaning-of-the-cross-for-latter-day-saints?lang=eng
So our leaders, including the quote I shared in the video from President Hinckley, have encouraged us to let our lives be the symbol of the cross rather than wearing one. However, we should be careful not to judge others, especially new members who come from a culture that uses the cross to honor the Savior (I love how Elder Schwitzer even mentions these new members in his article - see underlined part above).
I think many members are unfamiliar with our own mixed history of using the cross as a symbol and think the current practice has always been the case. We may also judge those wearing a cross, possibly not appreciating or understanding how they view this and the practice or religious culture they are part of. My hope was this video will help create greater understanding all around.

Great topic. I have always felt that the pendulum has swung a little too far on this issue, as I've had experiences in the Church wherein people not only NOT see the Cross as a sacred symbol (sacred such that we don't adorn ourselves or our buildings with it), but even go so far as to view it with derision and loathing. Personally, I am completely fine with tasteful jewelry as an expression of one's faith. Garish tattoos and clothing which show the Cross with skulls, etc. seem way over the top!
