RIP good television. Gone but not forgotten.
Huh? Mate Young Ones was an oasis in a sea of shit. We live in the BEST era of TV.
I’m an American, your panel shows? Funny, the it crowd? Funny, garth marenghi's darkplace? Funny, this? This is terrible.
@@jasonmurdoc9533No accounting for taste.
Back from when you could call someone a ‘Spasmo’. 😂 “Think Once… Think Twice… Think… Don’t Drive Your Car On The Pavement”. I loved this show!
Classic. Shame about Rik Mayall. A man taken before his time.
Definitely he was a star .
"I HOPE YOUR SATISFIED THATCHER!!!"
That still makes me laugh
I am not a young one anymore and it still cracks me up!! Just as good as the '80's and I guess the classics just don't ever get old. Thank you for posting.
Wow even after the eighties this still rings
40 years from now it still will, tho nothing they produce today will
Maybe if we're lucky, you never know! Fingers crossed.
Yep, pigs still suck
RIP Rik how can the people's poet be dead
Why are the kids crying?! Haven't you heard...
“I feel sorry for you, you zeros, you nobodies. What’s going to live on after you die? Nothing, that’s what! This house will become a shrine, and punks and skins and rastas will all gather round and hold their hands in sorrow for their fallen leader."
Vivian was my spirit animal when I was younger. I used to headbutt my friends hello at school. I stayed up way too late to watch this and its pure joy to see it all again here. Thank you!
Me too mate I'm basically a 40 year old Vivian I even have Metal tattoos on my arm from 16 & didn't realise he was the influence for that until years later haha I even go out in FB jail the other day for saying kill hippies 😂
I find it funny that the tight suit Neal wears for the job interview! is exactly what they are expecting men to wear today.😂😂
I'm Aussie 🇦🇺 loved renting The Young ones video tapes at blockbuster back when I was... A young one 😂
Snap
Love it
U watched bottom just as good rick and viv
Me three!
13:55 I love Neil's petulant little dance when he says "We haven't got any bread"! 😁
I watch this episode simply to hear him say " breeeeeaaaad"
I used to go to school super tired on Monday so I could stay up late and watch these guys on MTV Sunday nights.
Stay up late am sure it was on 9pm or 9.30pn😂😂🎉😂
This was never on MTV, it was on BBC 2
I used to do impressions of them in the class much to the annoyance of the teachers.
@@shoxx48 It was in America after it ended in the UK, so around 1985-ish. That's how so many Americans saw this - the best comedy show, full stop. ;)
Thank you Old Man, here is a large sum of money. Now go away quickly!!!!
Absolute classic.
I remember these when I was a kid they were great. I could watch them all right now.
Google play store has them up for sale, I have all two seasons.
i am :)
Bottom is great too. Maybe even better.
Both seasons were released on Dvd.
as were
.....bottom
......ripping yarns
......comic strip presents*
(5 go mad in dorset ,is a must see)
Try and find "Mr Jolly lives next door", Rick, Ade, and a cameo from the late great Peter Cook and Nicholas Parsons .
Fkn hilarious.
The 80s the best 👌 😊😊😊❤❤❤
Mike's nailing style is superb.
He nailed all the way through his right leg, then did his left leg.
Late night VH1 on Saturday night around 2am. I used to watch this as a kid.😂 Vivian and Rick were pure gold
"Charlie tango teakettle barbeque, CCCEEHHHHHHH" 🤣
loved this show. so funny. miss Rik Mayall in movies and shows. so sad hes gone.
Still hilarious. True comedy gold right here.
THE MORE MY MUM N DAD HATED THIS THE MORE I WATCHED THEY WERE GREAT PARENTS THIUGH AND THE 80S WERE THE BEST YEARS TO BE A TEEN THE TV CINEMA AND ESPECIALLY THE 🎵🎶 MUSIC R I P MUM N DAD ME AND MY LITTLE BRO STILL GOING STRONG 💥🎸🤘♥️😂🌍🌊
I saw these guys when they were first aired. Thay are still my Gods.
Splendidly surreal and funny.
I watched the repeats in early in 1985 when I was about 8 going on 9 years old. I was allowed to stay up late with my older brother to watch it as it was on past my 9pm bedtime, little did my mum know what we were watching lol
The train scene in another episode is total tears down the face laughing, glad to have watched the young ones when it was out
That would be Bambi, arguably the best episode ever

never gets old
Best show ever! RIP,The Peoples Poet!
First place i ever heard the term "Big Jobby". I still use it in my every day conversation.
My grandmother called it jobby
Fond memories of laughing with friends in high school the day after a broadcast. "Now please get me off this woman's lap before she farts again!"
Ah, great days,
I used to live watching this as a kid 😂
It’s funny the Wimpy one is now the normal one in modern day 2024 strange life come round !
Yeah, we need more Vyvyan and less Neil these days
Really? I thought modern society's problem was people like Rik, people like Neil are harmless!
Downhill skier dressed in yellow. You all saw him, but how many of you know you saw him?
@13:08
It's a shame they weren't allowed to put one into the final episode
Oh my goodness, I've had to pause that bit, I've seen this episode many times but never noticed!👠
There's a dove, a cowboy and a potter in other episodes, that I remember.
Neil is this show's version of Meg Griffin lol
Great observation. LOL
We've got a poltergoost!!
What a revolting thought! 😂
My 2nd favourite episode after oil
Still brilliant. 👍🇬🇧
It was a crazy year when The young ones ruled BBC1 ❤
It was class I loved watching it
Steve Hillage !!!! BRILLIANT Warlock !
Why do i enjoy Ade hitting Wik so much?
So many "Bottom" jokes! They where on to something....
Last night i found my guitar on the fire 😅
Pure class!!
Cheers for the upload🎉
Thanx for this ❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊
I grew up on The Young Ones and later Bottom. I loved them both but.... (personal preference about to be stated).... I can't stand Alexiei Sayle and I thought he ruined TYones. Just my opinion.
Alexei wasn't funny at all
Even if you didn't like him he didn't really get a lot of screen time so I think "ruined" is a bit of a stretch.
He was a comic genius in his own way, and his own series Alexi Sayle’s Stuff was as at least as funny as these were.
@@tommyhemlock7915never ,, got close to these ,he was an xtra at best
Fully agree
NO! That's a goldfish bowl! Put it down!!
DAF a friendship 😂❤❤❤❤
All day ❤🇬🇧👌
That one dog sounds suspiciously like Victor Meldrew!
No food. No money. Isn't that how people live nowadays. Funny how we had a Tory government back then as well.
Comedy gold they don't make TV like this any more!
Watch out for the special branch.
Open up it’s the pigs
Thanks Tod
I'm glad I could share it =)
Codpiece face
"What did you say?"
You don't get comedy like this anymore
To be British, is to fart.
30:52 vyvyan shat himself
Downhill skier @ 13:10
Wow i remember watching this here in the U.S. i think my ex-wife made me watch this while we were dating. Her family moved here from the U.K. i believe Surrey England.
What Neil did to the Steve Hillage album was absolutely unforgivable.
Hole In My Shoe makes up for anything
Dated but still funny as f***!
The only part I can't make out is when the ghost are saying something like cop these face or something???
"Codpiece face".
Its almost 2024 and the English still driving their cars on the pacement😂
this was written by Ben Elton, the 3rd cousin of Musician Olivia Newton John😗
Don’t you dare think this could happen these days or you’re everything under the sun VIVEN
Where about’s was the Jools Holland band doing “Subterranean Homesick Blues” suppose to be in this before they cut it out for this dvd release??
Around 19:08, just as they leave to go to the Army recruitment office.
What was the missing song before Neil goes the army recruitment office? They replaced it with the short blues instrumental.
According to the Wikipedia entry I think it should’ve been
Ken Bishop's Nice Twelve
performing "Subterranean Homesick Blues” ( the Bob Dylan song ) ?
Most likely left out because of Copyright?
You couldn't do Viv's story line at ALL today. smh. Also, the little guitar bit that's played as they push Neil into the job center (?) - I swear that doesn't exist on any version I've ever seen. Maybe it was cut do to music rights or something? Maybe I'm imaging it but I swear I've never heard that part before and I've seen these so many times I know almost every line - it's scary. LOL.
This is just an observation and not meant to offend anyone. But does anyone else find this show is a lot patchier than we remember? I mean, when it works, it's genius. But there's a lot of stuff in there that falls pretty flat. Like Mike's non-sequitirs, the irrelevant fantasy sequences, or Alexei Sayle.
I still love the show. I guess my view of it has just gotten less rose-tinted as time has gone on :(
Alexi was always a weak point
@@DerTodSoldathe was the bathroom or get a snack break when watching.
Is cream-filled meringue a thing in the UK?
Yes. Meringue, cream, and fresh soft fruits. It’s called an Eton mess.
it is a staple food, we eat it for breakfast, dinner and tea, it is the law :P
13:09 yellow skier could be Eddie the Eagle
I wish this programme had been written better.
Impossible, it couldn't have been any more brilliant
Filthy rich and catflap is quality. 😊.
Vyvian is the OG Troon.
Open up. It's the pigs😂😂😂
Teenage life,what a laugh
The subliminal message at 13:08 was a skier!
This episode was pretty tame compared to others. Where do you think all of those "Family guy" cut scenes and segways came from. I'm not a fan of Ben Elton but this shows format was cutting edge at the time. Kind of the last original anti establishment thing ever made.
Viv has a WetLeg on the Chaise Lounge.......
'Who's Rachel?'
13:08 subliminal imaghe of a skier anyone?
8:40 isnt that eddie booths wife?
Mike
💲
tik tok before tik tok was invented, never mind the other stuff,,,
Why is there a subliminal message of a skier at 13.09.
Just part of the anarchic and surreal humour of this sitcom. There were a few subliminal images in Series 2.
And at that time Mike and Vivian were eating snow....so not to subtle.
🧡🧡
Did yall see that subliminal message 😅
There was a few of those in Series 2
I think i don't know who is Adrian Edmondson is
Oh wow. You should check out a show called Bottom that he stars in with Rik
@@DerTodSoldat ben elton is the 3rd cousin of musician Olivia Newton John
I bet they don't play the episode 'boring' in its original state
I've just gotta figure out what drive I have it on and I'll upload it
@@DerTodSoldat Even the policeman with sunglasses scene? Brave
Buy it, don't rip it to youtube for Google.
This isn't for google, this is for those who've not gotten to witness the comedy genius of Rik and Ade
I also own the series on DVD. One of my favorites.
The Good Life is Better.
Felicity Kendall!
Yes I remember when the Young One's got a reluctant washing machine to open up on the promise of washing Felicity Kendall's underwear....."That needs a good wash"(Vivian)
What utter stupidity!
Stupid? Maybe but still funny.
Alexei Sayle is as unfunny today as he was back then. I thought being more mature might make me see what was 'funny' about him. Nope.
I sort of thought this would be funny...
hate alexi
Yeah, he's a detraction. The only bit he ever did that I liked was with the cactus and I believe that was due to the Dalek nod
