Old British humour was offensive but it had us rolling with laughter untill our ribs start to hurt old humour like on the busses and also carry on movies

Thirty years old these gems are and the amount of lines I still chuckle to myself whilst saying is testament to how good this show was.

Rik Maysl's entire collection of characters and characterizations are based on nine idiot and one idiot alone...until the skank who deduced such b.s met the idiot and found the conclusion to be without foundation, much to the idiot's woe.. he was happy to be portrayed as such. It was found he was more Eddie catflap...a useless minder.
I grew up on this stuff and, as a child, there were some things that I didn't understand.. My adult brain understands them as clear as crystal now 😂😂
I began watching as a young kid myself, even though I didn't understand half of it I still found it hilarious! I always think of them as Uncle Eddie and Uncle Richie lol.
This is brilliant British comedy. You cannot beat it, I am telling you, you just can never beat it 😂

I loved this and married with children.
I have fond memories of my brother and I laughing our arses off to this show. It's so unique in mixing course humour, slapstick, and keen social observation.
The sprouts of evil and the cattle prod will always reduce me to belly aching laughter. Terror indeed..🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love the scene with the baby - the married couple subtext, the blue blanket, it suddenly turning into a nativity scene is brilliant

Rik and Ade brought joy to my life, couldn't wait for a new episode of the Young ones or Bottom.
I had never seen such a happy chaos in life before, it was amazing! Those weeks seemed long in between!
I wish Rik was still here to lighten up this era with his intellectual madness!
This show was a tv highlight of my teens, holds up even today. Cant believe Riks gone 😞
IMO this was one of the best British sitcoms ever.

One of the very few programs that can guarantee to have me laughing out loud no matter how many times I watch.

So much talent there. Kryton from Red Dwarf was Rik Mayall's nemesis, and a hot Julia Sawalha was behind the bar. She went on to star in Ab Fab.
And Julia Sawalha was in a show Press Gang. Loved that when I was a kid at school.
The amount of lines from this show I use daily is frankly astonishing.
The amount of lines/jokes they took from the tv series and recycled them for their stage shows was also astonishing.

Absolutely brilliant and still as funny as ever, instantly quotable and unforgettable. So many great moments, one of my favourites being the chess board with no pieces and having to find pieces from around the flat.
I loved the Halloween cattle prod which kept making Richie lose control of his bowels. Side achingly funny programme. We won't see the likes of it again.

FACT the Wimbledon common episode was only shown in 1995 after the 3rd series was shown because someone was murdered at wimbledon around the same time that the episode was due to come on
