I'd like a historically accurate video of the 1980's power suited, shoulder padded, acrylic nails wearing, permed business woman. You know-- super harsh blush worked up into the temples, way too much eye makeup, etc. Inspiration: the Golden Girls, Designing Women, Cheers, the Cosby Show, etc.
Nope Not Telling Great idea! I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s. The 80’s look is so fun, and immediately recognizable. It’s funny to see kids wearing off the shoulder tops, leggings, and bright colors. They think they’re being unique, but we were wearing the same outfits 30 years ago, and wearing it better. If I do say so myself! 😁
If Zabrena does a regency makeup video, I'll make a gown. I do fashion history and recreate gowns and undergarments, including carving my busks by hand from oak. Interestingly, in the regency era's stays weren't meant to slim the waist, but to lift and present the bust. Lift. Present. Like on a platter. Makeup was tolerated as long as it wasn't obvious. Older ladies wore it quite heavily, but that's because they came from the Georgian era, where makeup was very obvious. The younger crowd rebelled against that by shunning obvious use, though it really isn't shameful to use. But make it look natural.
No, in the middle ages pagans and christian peasants did not wear makeup for various reasons, I'm sure you can think of them by yourself. Pagans maybe wore warpaint, but women didn't go to war, sooo
Yes, I agree!! My darling Dad passed away in 2011, but sometimes, the wound is still fresh, as when I play the kind of music he liked best, or when I hear a Massachusetts dialect, find myself looking at things the way that he did!! Surely do love you and miss you, Dad!! Tell Mom that I love and miss her!! 'Til we meet again....!!💕✝️⚜️
I can't wait to watch this and follow Zabrena's techniques to recreate the looks. NOBODY does Historically Accurate Makeup Videos better than Zabrena. She's never wrong because her attention to detail is phenomenal. Just look at the historical facts she adds along with the videos. OUTSTANDING! 🎆🎇🎉🎊
The hair for the Victorian lady was amazing! I think I read somewhere that women of society looked down on tanned skin because it denoted that you spent your time inside ( because you were married to a man who support that way of life) and not outside working; it was all about status.
Correct. It was a sign of privilege and wealth to be able to stay inside all day not working. Tan skin was seen as low a sign of not being rich. Pretty snobby. But these days, getting a tan is more of that sign since it means someone can spend enough time outside instead of working inside all day! Until recently, pale people, like myself, were teased for big so pale.
I'd love to see Viking makeup! I'm fascinated with Viking culture and where women stood in their society. On another note, I'm so glad that you continued this series, Zabrena. I hope that it helps your heart to heal in some small way, and find some peace. I know that you know that your dad is watching from Heaven!
I don't believe there was much going on with the Norse and makeup. In fact, it would be easier to find out how to do Norse hairstyles than makeup, because them Norsemen were all about that shiny braided hair lol.
Pioneers didn't have time for such frivolities. The Victorian era is in the 1800's. Something Zabrena missed is that it went on for decades, and in that time, fashion changed drastically. Both big hook skirts and bustles are part of the same era. City women wore a little makeup, though nothing obvious, and they always denied it. But pioneer women just didn't have the time to bother, and often didn't have money for that. It went to necessities.
She did mention then using natural dyes like beets. I am sure pioneer women used natural dyes when they could. I know my grandmother used cherries to dye clothes.
So good Zabrena. I believe "the ladies of the night" in French Victorian times, wore their hair half up and down. I just love this series. I miss my dad to. We lost him on August 22nd. 😢
So happy to see another historically accurate video!!! I do love your videos in general but there is something about these particular videos that speaks to the history buff in me!! History + makeup = A win
This series is actually what brought me to this channel. I love it. With that said, I am terribly sorry to hear of your father’s passing. I lost my dad last October. I understand that things just aren’t the same when one or both of your parents are no longer with you.
Your dad would be so happy that you're celebrating him by continuing this series! Lost my mom to cancer 10yrs ago & can relate. The details & information, the amount of research & costumes you put into this is to be commended! Thank you! I'm happy to follow along, the history buff inked thanks you. Have a great day today! Perhaps a doc wearing, cords & onesies 90s look updated with the Essence I'm With The Band palette?
Yes!!! It's been so long since you last posted a historically accurate video. I've missed them a lot. I love all the reasearch you do and all the effort you put into them. Please, keep them coming! :) Kudos from Spain.
Thank you so much! Yes, I included my explanation for the absence in this series in the beginning of this video, I'm finally getting back to wanting to do more, thankfully :)
I’m just seeing this. I’m so sorry for your loss. From your attitude and demeanor, you must’ve had a great dad! I enjoyed the little bubbles with info., although I had to stop the vid.to read them, as they came and went so quickly. 😁
Aww! I just ADORE you and your creativity! This is by far one of my favorite series on RUclips and rarely miss a video of yours in general! I wanted to say that when you’re feeling sad about your father passing, there are some wonderfully soothing audio clips of Abraham-Hicks speaking about passed on loved ones and grief. It’s so soothing and has brought me personal relief, so I thought you might want to check them out. Wonderful video! So much research and dedication. I love the pop ups! They remind me of the VH-1’s pop up videos I used to watch as a teenager! Much love and creativity to you, Zabrena! -Jane ☺️
I literally started to tear up at the opening, and the dedication to your dad. Losing a parent is so tough, it's like losing a piece of yourself. I really enjoyed the video as well, the entire series is one I look forward to seeing.
I love love love this! This is actually how I found you a few years ago when I was looking for a Cleopatra/Egyptian tutorial! RIP to you sweet dad. I lost my dad too in 2015, the year I found your channel ❤
So sorry about your Dad! 💔 I lost my Dad too and I miss him alot. It's been many years and it still affects me. Stay strong and know that you are appreciated ❤️
My dad died 1 year ago on 10/29. He was my best friend too. I still miss him so much that it hurts. I'm so sorry to know that you're going through the same pain. You're not alone.
Hello Zabrena, I am so glad to see this series back! I love that you combine history with beauty and makeup. This reminds me that the first video I saw from you was the 50´s makeup tutorial which is still one of my favorites. Thanks for the effor that you put in all of your videos and be brave because your dad is in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ!
I also lost my best friend which also was my dad and like yourself I list him in April of 2018 so my ❤️ heart goes out to you God bless and thank you for your makeup tetorials they keep me sane and yes I love them
I think it would be cool to see the difference between your average/working woman vs a hight society/wealthy woman in all different decades. I think the early 1900s, the suffragette kind of thing would be cool to see as well.
I'm happy you are continuing this series, although it is very understandable as to why you haven't done one up until now this year. I find this series very fascinating. :)
I lost my mum at only 59. I feel your hurt. It's been many years for me now, I roll with it but sometimes a wave comes along, just that little to high but I stay cheerful, coz that's what mum would want. As your dad would want - keep on, moving on 💕

I am so glad to see this series back!! It was how I found your channel and fell in love with your content! I am so sorry for the loss of your dad and I’m sure he would be so happy to see that your filming the historically accurate series again! Lots of love! ❤️
This series is what brought me to your channel and I absolutely love it. There is a reason your dad loved it and he is proud of you without a doubt. May he rest in peace ❤️
Wow you remind me so much of Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge in the lady of the night makeup. Such a lovely thing to dedicate the video to your dad am sure he would of loved it. Glad the historically accurate videos are back I love them so much x

Love this series this is how I discovered your channel! One of the best channels to watch for sure. Many hugs to you, thank you for bringing this series back!!
I know it must have been difficult to return to this series, but I hope you can find comfort and happiness in getting back to it. I know so many of your subscribers (including me!) enjoy them.
Omgggg I can’t wait!! These videos are why I originally started watching you channel I absolutely love this series ❤️ can’t wait !!! You should do these more often!
I am so excited to see that you’re returning to this series. Your father is smiling down on you, proud off his beautiful girl! Thank you for sharing your life, talents, love and wisdom with us. ❤️
Thanks for being vulnerable and dedicating this to your dad. I also lost my dad in March and cannot begin to deal with it much less speak publicly. Great video!!
I’m so excited to see you revive this series! I’ve watched all of your previous historically accurate makeup tutorials. I love history, and I love makeup 💄! Is there a better combination? I think not. If you’re taking requests, I’d love to see a look from the Edwardian period, and WWII. Thank you!
These videos were how I first found you back in 2014! So happy to see this series again, although I certainly understand the reason you stopped for a bit. Sending you big love and prayers. xoxo
What a lovely tribute to your father's memory! My father just passed away on October 13, so I know the pain you're feeling. Prayers for you as you continue filming these videos that your dad loved!
Omg I am so excited for this!!! I hate that it doesn’t premiere for a few hours but I’m so excited there’s a new historically accurate that I don’t even care lol
Please continue to make the historical videos. I’m kind of an amateur fashion historian, so I watch a lot of these videos, but most of them are from historians, history lifestyle vloggers etc. I love that yours are from the perspective of a makeup artist. Not very many beauty influencers do these types of videos.

Adding to the cause! Lol
Zabrena, I’m sure your dad is so proud of you for continuing this series, even though it was difficult for you to do. We love your channel!
Edwardian Age- The Gibson Girl
I'd love to see a Regency (Jane Austen) Era makeup tutorial.
If Zabrena does a regency makeup video, I'll make a gown. I do fashion history and recreate gowns and undergarments, including carving my busks by hand from oak. Hello how are you doing over there.
I missed this series, but it breaks my heart that it caused you to relive some grief. This was a wonderful come back to the series!
Would there be anything g on Viking women? 😊❤️🐼
Tammy HERRERA their only makeup was the blood of their enemies so that might be a bit hard to pull off lol

Stephanija Olds I love all the research she put into this!
OMG this is how I found you! Your series about the make up of the 20s, 30s, 40s ... Iam so glad you continue this series! Thank you so much!
Please do Pride and Prejudice-era makeup and hair! Elizabeth Bennet!
YES!!!!
Yes! I love the BBC '95 Pride and Prejudice characters. And their hairstyles and makeup.....lol...just me...😂😊

That tan skin discrimination still continues to this day in most of Asia. 😞

@Forrest Paige Yes, tanning is so bad for skin health, I'm glad I learned about it recently!

Wonderful video! How about a time period where makeup was used as war paint on women. That could be really fun with Celt or Pict inspiration.
Please continue to make the historical videos. I’m kind of an amateur fashion historian, so I watch a lot of these videos, but most of them are from historians, history lifestyle vloggers etc. I love that yours are from the perspective of a makeup artist. Not very many beauty influencers do these types of videos.
What about a French woman from Paris
Cindy Sancinito, great idea, what period? The sixties, BB perhaps? And then London same period, Biba style. (Zabrena did a Twiggy look already.)
Yes the sixty century would be so cool
