The way that was done was mirrored so perfectly to real life, and as you said, by only doing it subtly. The mention of Philip's land rover, and him going before her to symbolise him dying before her. This scene was really about her being the last one left. So beautifully portrayed.

She penned it in the 1890s as an appeal for woman's suffrage and women's autonomy saying (paraphrase) that women don't need to be under the protection of men because at every great moment of their lives from birth to death -- they walk alone. 😢

The part where she steps to the side of the coffin and sees her younger self saluting her really puts into perspective just how long her reign was and how many historical eras she lived through.
The modern attire we're all used to seeing in our modern day in photo and film, and then the WW2 uniform that we only see in history books or in museums or black and white grainy photographs. Both of them together contrasting eachother is an odd sight.

This scene has so much symbolism. We see her past come to her as she wrestles with what the right thing to do is: Abdicate or stay Queen till death. If you notice in this scene both of those Elizabeth’s are symbols of her past life. they are here in all black to symbolize those deaths of her past selves and now they’ve made way for this seasoned, wiser Elizabeth to finish out her time and join them. Also the beauty of walking from that deep darker colored inner church area to the much brighter area is so beautiful and symbolizes her eventual walk into heaven

Chills, literal chills! The symbolism with that last shot of her walking the long walk into the proverbial light is unmistakable. Even though this was set 17 years before her actual death, you could think of it as her soul making one last round during those quiet hours before her funeral, encountering her younger selves and being reminded of what parts of her she had to sacrifice to become Queen, before finally walking away and crossing into the afterlife, bringing to an end the second Elizabethan age. Probably the best way to wrap this magnificent series.

There's a poignant comparison in this scene that goes all the way back to one of the first scenes in Season 1, Episode 1. We see Elizabeth walking into Westminster Abbey with her father to marry Phillip. She is surrounded by people all there to support her. And by the end of the show, the final scene of Season 6 Episode 10, we see Elizabeth walking out of the chapel that is completely empty. No King George or Queen Elizabeth. No Margaret. No Phillip. No Winston. No one to guide her or support her anymore. She is completely on her own to make it work, and that long walk from the inner chapel through the outer chapel to the door is quite symbolic of how long she had to reign, really, on her own, before she departed.

So much symbolism and meaning here, it's such a beautiful ending. From Phillip leaving her side, symbolizing that he passed before her and she had to move forward without him. Then, her seeing herself lying in state, then seeing her past-selves. Her thinking about how far she's come and her life's journey. Then her walking through the corridor and through the door which opened without anyone there, showing only light on the other side, symbolizing her passing. 😢 Rest easy, your Majesty.

Everyone has mentioned the symbolism of this scene, and it is truly beautiful and masterfully done, but something I noted was Phillip’s final scene, how he comforts her glibly, then says “say one for me” before “going on ahead”. It may not be something they planned for people to notice, but it just stands out to me. He was her rock, her “strength and stay” so to me, it was Perfect for that to be his last act; a comforting sweet moment, and a cheerful nod to her faith.

Regardless of her good or bad decisions, Elizabeth remained firm and stoic in her role, in her community, until the end. , as if wanting to be the emblem of a nation. Signifying her remaining 17 year reign from the time the show ends at (2005) to the end of her reign (2022). After which she walks into the gate with shining light, symbolising afterlife.

0:00 The bagpipe player is her version of an angel calling her to rest.
0:27 As the sovereign never dies, we see the Crown on her casket instead of her physically, as in death it has has moved on into the soul of the succeeding monarch spiritually.
1:00 The woman she "put aside" steps into view, no longer obscured by the Crown. Elizabeth Windsor, wearing a British uniform symbolizing duty, salutes Elizabeth Regina, proud to have been the sacrifice to allow the latter to perform the highest British duty. We know this is the woman she put aside because she's full of the kind of emotion a monarch is not permitted, but even this emotion, a beaming smile with the slightest of nods, is in service of confirming that pride. Elizabeth Regina is assured by her younger self that she did the right thing in answering the call.
1:37 Now that the Elizabeths are no longer in conflict with one another, there is no longer any reason to debate, so even her past selves no longer have anything to say. She doesn't have to look back to know that they're there because she doesn't have to look back to know who she is, and now is a time to move forward.
2:22 Starting when the camera is over the hall, we are shown an uninterrupted shot of her walking its entire length, one second in duration for each year of the longest reign of a monarch in recorded history.
3:32 Since the sovereign never dies, it is Elizabeth Windsor who walks into the white light, moving on.

most people around the world loved her not because for the institution she represents, but actually the personal connection they felt with her, as she was perhaps quite like the grandma who's been in the background, who's always there with us as our world goes through its ups and lows. it's the human connection which connects us to her, and us to each other as we will miss her kind presence, who we used to know, that despite how the world changes, she would still be there with her grandmotherly smiles

This is definitely one of the most poetic, reflexive and perfectly well done endings I have ever seen, I am not from the united kingdom but I am huge fan of it's culture and the royal family is one of my favorite topics, the Queen will always be remembered as one of the most historic leaders, not only from the united kingdom, but for the universal story as well, remember when I watched the funeral live one year ago and this will bring a lot of people feel exactly what they felt when they were watching the funeral on TV, because it was my case.
    Rest in peace your Majesty.🫡😞😢😭

An impeccable way of representing the end and a new beginning. Her decision not to step down (shuffling the cards during her speech to skip that part) signaled a rebirth, a re-commitment to the rest of her reign as Queen. In the group photo scene, she appeared to reawaken, re-commit to her duty. I admire how Peter Morgan wove in the imagery of her funeral 17 years later, but the final scene suggested that she was still very much alive and walking alone, to continue her duty as Queen. Brilliant ending that can be interpreted in many ways.

I attended the lying in state in Westminster Abbey, queued for 13 hours from 3am in the morning. I would have queued for 13 more hours just to have been able to pay my respects again, for the sense of stability, belonging, and empathy she provided us during the celebratory and difficult times. I queued for what was 12 hours 45 minutes in the cold, and when I begin to walk down the steps of the hall, it felt like she was there. Like her living soul comforting every person in the room, resting on the top of the hairs on your arms, slightly suffocating but no struggle, I don't cry but I began to, trying to hold it back, the atmosphere was far unlike any other funeral i'd been to, one where I didn't want to leave. I'd never had the pleasure of meeting her, but I had the honor to be able to pay my respects to her before they closed the line. RIP Queen Elizabeth II

The powerful scene is combined so well with the epic music. That dynamic and lively rhythm when the young Elizabeth Windsor showed up and paid tribute to the self that she devoted her life to; the beautiful melody when Claire and Olivia appeared and at last solemn music symbolizing the long reign that the Queen has enjoyed and her services to the Crown, accompanying the last journey to the end of her life, ending with a peaceful tone that stays in the collective memory of the world. And the walk, although she had to finish the last period of her rule by herself, this was undoubtedly a tremendous tribute to her remarkable life and the legacy she left behind.

Aa a Brit i can't tell you the immense impact the death had on us as a nation - she guided us through so much, her covid broadcast being an example not to mention her world stage presence of grace and stability. Her Christian faith has guided me to search more spiritually as the strain of being an icon destroys so many in both pop and political arenas. Now we put faith in Charles, wish him happiness with Camilla and to be honest know we are in safe hands long term with William and Catherine. There is so little to cling to nowadays in politics, it is a mess, so thank you for feeling the echoes of what as a nation we cherish. We all look up and hope and in her case we looked up and saw a rock.
