How amazing and so painful as we watch a youthful Elizabeth walk into the palace while Margaret, in present days, bids farewell. Twenty years later Elizabeth rejoins her sister.....
Yes I cried watching this as when this was released I had just lost my grandmother. They dressed the present Margaret in a similar style my beautiful grandmother would have worn (obviously a bit more understated) but this still hit home my Nonie was of a similar age.
And that's when we realize that it was not a dream but an astral journey of Margarita saying goodbye to her sister. God, how good they did that scene. Still hurts
@@tessdurberville711 Quite often in other languages, they refer to people in their own tongue, so to a Spanish speaker she might have been known as "La princesa Margarita, condesa de Snowdon." I'm quite sure the poster did not think she was of Spanish lineage - it is a show about the British monarchy after all. They likely just crossed wires and mistyped.
They look an artistic license in this very final scene in a most tear-jerking manner. At first you would think, no way the two princesses stayed out all night, which slowly makes you realise that it is what Margaret might be dreaming of as she leaves the world behind. Bravo.
What I most loved about this scene was the throwback during the credits to Margaret and her father singing Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered from early season one, the last memory Margaret had of her and her father the night before he passed. Actually I think it was the same night just a few hours earlier. I think the playing of that song made this event even more sad for me.
Which is also why Margaret opted to break with Royal protocol and decided to be cremated- So there would be room for her to be interred with her father. After a life of so many rules and regulations diminishing her happiness, an exception was finally, poetically made for her in death.
00:20 This part struck such a chord with me. Little did she know she would grow into being one of the most well known icons of the 20th and 21st century.
In an otherwise uneven season, this episode really stood out as not only a highlight of S6 but one of the best entries of the entire series. Truly spectacular television.
Absolutely agree. I remember telling myself that I would've loved seasons 5-6 to be full of this kind of episodes... I thought that the send-off was so touching and heartwarming ❤
I'd like to think of this as Margaret passing on into heaven while Elizabeth (who remained mostly healthy) returned to continue her earthly duties before joining her 20 years later. "I go to prepare a place for you".
Well done. I was worried that they'd only allude to her passing in the final episodes, but this was perfect, right down to the duet with her father, King George VI from season 1.
I’m glad they brought the Queen back into focus in the last few episodes. And I’m glad they gave Margaret her chance to shine and explicitly stated how much she meant to the Queen. I feel she is an often-overlooked character (as in real life). I think this was the best episode of the season.
This was an amazing scene. The way they communicated to us, in an instant, that Margaret has died is one of the best pieces of cinematic art I've ever seen. The memory is over, and reality has arrived and carries with her the sad truth.
This was such a perfect moment, and it made me cry when I was watching the episode. Then, to my surprise, I cried again just now, watching the scene here. Lesley Manville honored Princess Margaret with her performance throughout the two seasons - all the depth and nuance! - but never more than in this moment.
I cried like a baby at this episode. As the oldest sister of four siblings (2 sisters) it made me soo sad as one of my constant prayers is they outlive me because I couldn’t imagine not having them around
I imagine they were grateful in the summer and less so during winter. They pass out occasionally because of the heat during the summer with those bearskin hats on.
Can we say Bravo to the casting directors oh my goodness! This young princess Elizabeth and the princess Elizabeth we see in seasons 1 and 2 are each other's doppelganger holy smokes.
Its so great to give the Crown this episode as a proper send off for a great character in the series. In my own opinion every episode Margaret is in, that episode became more colorful and dramatic, so she just deserves this episode as a tribute.
This scene broke me. It was so well done and so relatable. It made you think when the time comes, do we go back to the happiest moment in our life and relive it with the people we loved and it just struck a chord very hard. Brought me to tears
Margaret told Elizabeth in this episode that she wants to be buried in her "flower dress" instead of some dreary black dress. When you look close at the designs, I think this is it.
How I wished Vanessa and Helena would had appeared in these scenes, like they would have acted as Margaret's conscience just like Claire and Olivia in the series finale
It was very moving when it cut back to Margaret, and it was her older self, and you knew it was her death, even though you knew from the beginning of the episode. I thought that was an especially poignant moment
“But I will always be by your side… No matter what.”😭❤️ This scene broke my heart losing Princess Margaret must have been so awful for the late Queen but as she said herself “Grief is the price we pay for love.”🥹❤️🩹 They are together again now🥹❤️.
Lol this made me cry like hell I can’t imagine living without my siblings and one of mine is having heart issues at such a young age I find myself at the bottom of a bottle crying myself to sleep. When our time does come I hope I’m first I don’t want to bury any of them
This was just so sad. She died and it could have been prevented if she didn't smoke and drink and took better care of herself. My mother and I watched this together and we both cried.
The great thing is the choice of the song 'bewitched, bothered and bewildered' in the ending, which is the song played by princess Margaret and king George VI in season 1, in the version played by the two actors. This means finally Margaret has joined her father.
Unlike the horrendously bad scenes with the “ghost” of Princess Diana in the earlier episodes, this was a really moving conclusion to the Queen’s relationship with her sister.
Diana is a memory, not a ghost. She doesn't haunt the Royal Family. She's at peace. What lingers is the memory of her and that's more haunting then any ghost
*Even for Diana's journey I felt sad and sympathetic emotions but this only episode made me cry so hard coz this is something very beautiful bonding and I have my own twin sister and I couldn't imagine my one day without her not being my side. We talks through phone everyday discussing our day In nights, and asking for each other's opinions, mocking each other for fun..And I wanna get old with her 🥹...but the reality is someday we all going to say goodbye to our love ones with saying "remember I am always be with you" like Margret as a sister said to her lily beth* 💔✨💖
The great thing about this scene and their escapades at the Ritz, is that there's a whole movie about that night. It fits in well with the Crown and the movie itself is quite good!
This scene touches on the background of Margaret's death, she is dreaming that she is with her sister, then dawn begins, right at 6:30 when the sun is rising the dream turns into a journey to the afterlife, she says goodbye to her sister, leaving her not only in her dreams, but also in the earthly world, God how much power and drama in a few seconds.
This part is so beautiful and it makes me so sad. Her having to essentially let go so she can be at peace finally, all the while not forgetting who she belongs next to. It's also a bit tragic because she only has her sister at this point. After the monarchy denied her true love more than once she had to learn to be on her own when she never should've been.
I am well-aware these times were extremely difficult for humanity. We were JUST after WW2, many people were dead, contries, cities were in ruin, BUT human relations were so much better, more honest, REAL. In some way, people were happier back then, despite all the tragic events in the world. No internet, no smartphones, no modern technology - just people. People with their emotions, dreams, flaws, everything that makes a human human. There's something magical about that. In this video, when the two young girls are standing at the gate, at the beginning of a new era, completely unsure what the future holds, it's magical. Even the birds singing are magical. Between a simpler and a modern world, I'm not so sure I would choose the latter. I would happily live a shorter but meaningful life instead of a longer one with fake people and emotions.
This story about The Ritz is supposed to take place only two years before Elizabeth’s marriage at the beginning of Season 1 so I don’t know why they didn’t just get Claire Foy and Vanessa Kirby to do this. It would have meant so much to the audience
I've read that Princess Margaret was the person the Queen had the closest relationship with. Presumably this is because they grew up in such an adult-orientated environment - no school friends. It must create a very strong bond.
This scene makes me cry many times.. Nothing is more hurtful than losing siblings " We will strengthen your arm through your brother " (Quran 28:35) I think she had been thinking about Ritz night in her last days because she had missed old days with her sister and old versions of them

I have liked her in many other films, but I felt she was miscast here.
This scene broke my heart into a thousand pieces. Also: The casting director should get an Emmy for finding these two gems.
At first I thought "Damn! That's a nice piece of deaging technology on Claire and Vanessa".
@@kalinastachel1425 They've actually used the same young Margaret since season 1
The casting of this scene was beautiful. So emotional.
These young actors really look like a young vanessa kirby and claire foy !!
i was so shocked that it wasn't them honestly, even thought it was ai at one point
They used the same actress who played the child version in the first series.
Exactly what I thought too, definitely thought it was Vanessa Kirby and Claire Foy, had to check the credits to see who it was
Yeah that's top notch casting!
And in the French dubbed version, the actresses are dubbed by the same voices as Claire Foy and Vanessa Kirby
The Ritz must’ve been Margaret’s favorite memory with her sister, that’s why there was so much emphasis on it before her passing.
There's a video on here from 1995 where Princess Margaret talks about the VE celebrations
For once they got to be "normal" people
It was one of the rare moments that they had some freedom, especially Elizabeth. That was one of the last times Elizabeth was really herself.
@@pierfrancescomodeomisa7103 and that’s where Margaret went with her sister Elizabeth and made her favorite memory.

Margaret. She was not of Hispanic lineage.

This was heartbreaking. Sisters finally say goodbye.
How beautiful that the Gates of Buckingham Palace for one sister, were the Gates of Heaven for another.

I interpreted it a bit like that too, like a dream sequence or alternative reality before she died.
