    The good:
    - CPU performance.
    - Battery life
    - Display
    Bad:
    - Not ready for gaming.
    - Numerous apps not working.

      @@RK-um9tuand oftentimes, they’re the most obscure ones too. I get why people really hammer that home though, because it’s still important to know what’s usable or not, but the vagueness does get you too. As for the gaming, these were never EVER marketed as something you game on weekends they?? Maybe I’m wrong, but when I think of the surface lineup I don’t think gaming.

    $450 is ridiculously expensive for an accessory that should be included with the surface for free. I have also read some early reviews of that keyboard that found firmware and disconnection issues. Microsoft really needs to wake up and come to their senses.

    • @justincphilip
      @justincphilip 10 дней назад +2

      They don't include it because they have different keyboard options (a basic one, one with the pen dock, and now this wireless one with pen dock), so you can pick one that fits your needs and budget. Costco includes the keyboard and pen in their bundle btw! It's not the Flex Keyboard though.

    • @supremespanker
      @supremespanker 10 дней назад +5

      You do realize you can just buy a portable wireless mechanical keyboard for like 100 bucks. And as an upshot you get like 50x better typing experience. Microsoft is right not to include it, I don't want to pay for something I don't need.

    What I DO like about the stylus keyboard combo is that the pen is "right there" where you’ll notice if its missing. I've lost my Samsung S-pen simply because its stored on the back where it can easily fall off without you realizing it. An expensive little mistake.

    The Surface Pro 11 (2024) certainly has a lot of potential, love the beautiful sapphire blue color, gorgeous OLED display, the webcam and internal mic quality is stunning, has 2 USB-C 4 ports and expandable SSD. My observation with no USB-A ports is that manufacturers for the most part are slowly getting rid of it in favor of USB-C. The same thing applies to the SD card, HDMI and the audio jack. This product however can get crazy expensive especially having the Keyboard and Pen as separate attachments which will add to the total cost. This may very well turn off a lot of potential customers. I am however looking forward to the review of the Surface laptop which I know will come shortly. Once again Andrew, you have outdone yourself with this very thorough review which is very much appreciated my friend. Thank you!! 👍😁

    • @luc7976
      @luc7976 12 дней назад

      Agree loss of ports is bad especially headphone jack. But cheap adapter USB-C - 3.5MM plug works alright. For HDMI I'd prefer using more versatile USB-C to HDMI cable which has some advantages.
      Pricing is not bad if you compare to Pro X especially with the perf/battery boost. I prefer they don't bundle keyboard every time since if you still have one from previous model, you don't have to pay again for a new one. Second they still sell the regular keyboard with pen for almost half price(I'd prefer the lower weight anyway). Other than that there are lots of great deals throughout the year to get decent discount if you can wait.

  • @RobertDunn310
    @RobertDunn310 13 дней назад +3

    The fact that your colorimeter and spider device didn't work is most likely because of drivers and that is the biggest Achilles heel with this Qualcomm processor.
    You can emulate your way out of many x86 applications but drivers need to be compiled for the ARM architecture.
    If that doesn't happen then this makes a device a non-starter for very specialized use cases like yours where you have to measure color accuracy for reviews

    Kickstand is a must have (far better than any iPad), as well as OLED touchscreen and NPU 45 TOPS for edge AI computing (eg, Da Vinci Resolve 19). Basic keyboard with pen (less expensive than Apple…). Windows 11 versus iPadOS (no comment), with all-day battery life! Native RISC/ARM app are coming (same when transition to M1). Sapphire blue is gorgeous. 1TB for mine. Greetings 🇨🇭

    AMD, if you were to write on the screen with the pen for a bit...like a page on OneNote with the tablet flat...does the screen get warm? Always bothered me on older devices....a Samsung tablet surface will remain mostly cool and I'm hoping that's the case here now that they've moved to ARM.

    Okay PC. The color scheme of this unit and keyboard in blue looks very nice. Port selection fair. Camera looked very good. At this point in time does it make sense to pay this kind of money for a PC with mediocre running specs that does not run all the windows applications? If possible potential purchasers should wait several months or longer until compatability bugs are worked out so most windows applications work with this new processor. Having a special charging connector can be an obstacle. My question is can this unit also be charged through the USB-C ports? Great First Look review. All I can say is that this may be the best Surface Pro to date. The Surface Pro major weakness has been battery life when away from the AC power supply. And the OLED display and Bluetooth keyboard in my view makes the new Microsoft Surface Pro almost perfect.
    I still have a concern with software and hardware compatibility with this ARM base Surface Pro. Though I must admit for many people this will not be a concern for everyday productivity and entertainment use cases. In that regard many users that work or play in the Microsoft 365 product and services will be very happy. That said, I am looking forward to the Intel Lunar Lake offering and I am hoping Microsoft offers a version of this for the Microsoft Surface Pro 11.

In terms of compatibility with existing programs, will the Surface Pro 11 work with CAD, Photoshop, Revit, etc. as well as a Windows laptop?

    Excellent sound! Very sharp video. Slightly blueish colors? But skin color was ok. Could be due to lighting.
    Some early testers suggest that Prism improves emulation speed by 5-10% compared to previous emulation generation, and that the rest of emulation speed increase is due to better processor
    Some testers report that performance in battery mode is ca 95% of performance when powered from the grid (i.e., for Surfaces; Samsung Edge appears to have much bigger difference between plugged-in and battery performance).
    Emulation speed... If you have Lightroom available, check AI noise reduction. Takes 5-13 min for 20 Mpx images on my HP Dragonfly 12th gen Intel laptop. Is this comparable on SP 11 in emulation mode? I'd expect a solid improvement in a native ARM version of Lightroom if taking advantage of the NPU.

    I'm sorry, but why don't you talk about how glossy the display is? It's like a mirror, the glare on it is unacceptable. I bought the IPS one, got disappointed so I went to the store to buy a more expensive one with OLED screen to compare. Both are the same, all you can see on the screen is yourself in front of it. I tired to turn off dark mode, set a bright wallpaper, but any time I open up a website and there's a darker color (not black) you can clearly see yourself at 80% brightness. Using this constantly above 80% brightness takes away the power you would save with ARM chip... I'm going to return both of the Surface Pros due to this, despite how premium this tablet is in general, this level of glaring/reflection is a deal breaker for me 😢

      @pregigeri8421 13 дней назад +1

      @@godboat. Sure, if it was a $700 device I would do that, but we are talking about $1600 here. If I spend that amount on a tablet with an OLED screen it's because I want to enjoy the content not ruin it with a blurry matte screen protector. I've tested so many big screen devices with OLED, like Samsung Tabs, new iPad, Asus and Lenovo laptops. You will see glaring on all, it's glass, but we are talking about real mirror effect on the Surface Pro, it's another level. I'm not sure if it's a gorilla glass 5 or what, but it was a silly choice, especially next to my Samsung S24 Ultra which has 0 glare. The snapdragon Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Edge also has the same anti reflective coating like the S24U, I wish Samsung would sell it in Hungary.

  • @Indrid__Cold

    Two thousand dollars, as tested! I mean, wow! I thought Samsung charged too much for its tablet keyboard, but this takes "overpriced" to a whole new level. Did they charge so much because there are no advertising stickers in the usual place on the palm rest? I don't get it. I can buy an excellent-quality RGB screen cover tablet keyboard for $100 all day, any day on Amazon. Yes, the "artist" stylus is cute, but again, we're talking four hundred and fifty bucks for the pair, and I don't see it! 💸 💰

      @Altronn 11 дней назад

      As far as battery life it certainly goes to the X Elite, but what good is battery life if performance suffers? If you're doing heavier tasks, you'll most likely be plugged in anyway. The X Elite needs to work through an emulation layer to get x86 apps working which slows down performance, and even then many apps don't run.
      If you need to run heavier apps, the Surface Pro 9 is the better buy; you can get the high end one certified refurbished for about $1000. If you need battery life, a document writer and a RUclips machine, get an iPad Air instead.
