- In a very interesting development, those of us who are calling Americans to come back to Christ, and to do so as Americans who are guilty of very American sins, are somehow being charged with teaching that America is somehow the new Israel, God’s chosen people. Now of course, we teach no such thing, and would be indignant over the charge if we didn’t have better things to do. We must not get distracted.
Among those better things to do would be the ongoing task of calling our nation back to repentance. And if we were to repent the way Israel did on a number of occasions, when God gave true reformation to them, it would be an occasion for shouting, whatever the theological challenge involved. Even if there were to be a challenge in keeping straight who the chosen people might be, which there isn’t really, but in the meantime we stopped mutilating kids, that could be considered by some as a good deal.
Maybe it would be alright with God if nations that weren’t the chosen nation abandoned their wicked ways. Just a thought.

'Many evangelicals have in recent years been more ashamed of Christ than the world ever has been of its ever-intrusive sins.' So true!! When this cultural insanity has to yield to the inevitable consequences of its foolishness many who were viewed as the "virtuous, tolerant, progressive" one's will be shown for what they really were.

Doug said "secularist distortion of the first amendment"? Oh really? Secularists like James Madison? Thomas Jefferson? George Washington? Ben Franklin? It is abundantly clear that all these men did not want a country governed by religious beliefs. It’s important to note that the only way a nation will ever abandon its evil ways is when the ALL of its people are regenerated by the Spirit. Anything less than that means the nation will only abandon SOME of its evil ways and will glorify those not abandoned.
Which is exactly how we got America as we know her today.
The challenge is that most Christian Nationalists would settle for outward law following over inward transformation of individuals. This is because they are staunch materialists and easily satisfied.
Weird take. You can totally embrace the need for evangelism and Gospel transformation, and also believe that the magistrates should specifically obey Christ. Leadership can play a big role.
@CP-dk8oi well, that WOULD be the first thing a person in leadership should do. The magistrate's *job* is to represent God's Law to the people he serves.
David was anointed a king long before he carried the iron rod. As Rutherford explained, David became king when the people of Israel abandoned Saul and lifted up David.
Thus the Holy Spirit had to providentially move the population's hearts from Saul to David.
The public policy shift is SUBSEQUENT to the work of the Holy Spirit in the population.
Happened in Nineveh too. The people were anticipating destruction and were repenting prior to the King of Nineveh declaring repentance as official policy.
Thanks, Pastor Wilson

All right, let us say we actually aren't engaged in any of these vile activities. That's not a given, but let us just say that is how it actually is. On judgment day, we will not be held to account for any of these things. If we're not doing them, then we're not guilty of them. But if we hate our neighbors because they are doing it, then, we are judging them. What happens when we judge others? Jesus said, Judge nothing before the time. What do you think, is that a big deal or not? We can probably just ignore that, right?.. I wouldn't bet on it.

God didn't continuously judge those gentiles. Yes they were moved into position so God's eye and ear were tweaked to listen and see. But then he moved back to focus on the Jews. He didnt judge Nebuchadnezer until God's prophet explained his dream was also a prophesy to take away his ego but not his kingdom. God didn't free the Jews when he punished the king of Babylon. Sodom was only revealed to God when Lot was placed in the gate of the city. A judgeship hearing all the petitions of the people. Then Lot would go home and pray to God to ask for perfect judgement. So God heard what horrors that Sodom was up to. God is omniscient but he also respects our privacy. He waits till an angel reports what is happening in his kingdom.
God named Eve.
No, Adam did. Says so right in Genesis 3
The fundamentalist attack on winsomeness is baffling to me. Its a false dichotomy to think that you cannot hold truth and winsomeness at the same time. In the same way being a jerk doesn't make you right or a prophet, it just makes you a jerk.
The chosen people of Israel was NEVER a chosen geographical area with the people who lived inside it. A Nation is an ethnic group with a common ancestor. But Israel committed the sin of diluting their ethnic bloodlines to the point of having no distinguishing differences between them and the Canaanite Nations around them. Ten of the twelve tribes were removed and dispersed into Northern Assyria and only God knows what became of those bloodlines.
So how did God restore Israel? Through the life death and resurrection of Christ and those who believed on Him. The faithful Jews who were the remnant of a remnant of the bloodline grafted in both gentiles and people who identified as gentiles who had ancestors of the lost ten tribes. As Christianity spread a different kind of Nation was born a new “Israel”, defined not by ethnicity and descending from Jacob, but from faith and obedience to Christ.
Being the chosen people was never anything more or less than a focus for God to teach all Nations the consequences of sin and the rewards of righteousness. To point out how His creation functions by making it clear how these Israelites suffer or prosper depending on their choices. Other Nations live under the same rules of the universe. But Israel is there to really point these rules out so no one can not see it!
Good insights.
An ethnic group has to live on some patch of land somewhere. This cosmos was created with three dimensions of space.
Genesis 12:1
The LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you."
Genesis 12:7
The LORD appeared to Abram and said, "To your offspring [or seed] I will give this land."
and again in Genesis 15:18-21:
On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram and said, "To your descendants I give this land, from the Wadi of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates - the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites, Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites, Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites and Jebusites."

It appears that you're confusing "chosen" in this sense with election unto salvation. Everyone who is baptized in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit are called Christians. This does not make them automatically believers, nor does it change the number of the elect (from the foundation of the world) at all. But they are marked with the mark of Christ (baptism) and are therefore, in that sense, the chosen of God. The same was with the nation of Israel. Through circumcision they were associated with the Name of God YHWH and were therefore chosen, in the sense that Paul gives us in Romans concerning the value of being a Jew (the oracles, patriarchs, etc). God didn't go around creating other little patches of tiny nations all over the world. No, He started with the one man (faithful) Abraham and built a nation from him, which contained both faithful and unfaithful people. Just as there are faithful and unfaithful people in the church today. THEN from THERE the things you said are true. But denying that Israel as a nation, throughout the Biblical narrative, were the chosen nation of God is simply incorrect.
I read that woman's article. It was an absolute strawman and shown that she is clueless about Christian Nationalism. I was looking for a place to.comment to tell her as much but they didn't have it on the site.
What I don't think Christian Nationalism can be is arrogant and covetous. Though it must pursue exceptional excellence, not vainly at an exploited expense of others merely for being out of sight out of mind. Borders are a necessary condition of economic stability and sovereignty, not an excuse to be alienating and coldly cavalier toward those curbed behind a curtain. Christian Nationalism should seek to create opportunity without opportunism.
Christian Nationalism must be the vigilant imperitive to keep Christian values and the wisdom in revering the blueprints from God's bona fide Scriptural instruction at the core center foundation of our national identity as the confirming prudential standard to mirror in policy and essential ethic to model after the character of Christ for fundamentally galvanizing a path to proceed with the aspirational courage and moral confidence that is exclusively edified under the stalwart stewarding service of the only proper authority which demands of us first that each faithful step be mindfully missioned with a dutied sense of gracious implore for brotherhood rather than contempt for our fellow man -- all of whom unless forfeited from the common decency, ought always be considered neighbors on the same road, worthy of hospitality in the form of courtesy without coddle, regardless of temporal proximity on a map to pin for pigeonhole where on the withering wheel we all spin for our mutually limited engagements.

One gripe I have with this piece and many others about Christian Nationalism, and while small it is important considering the awful effects of the war on drugs… how can you consistently say cannabis stores are sinful and liquor stores aren’t? That makes no sense.
Neither are inherently evil. The evil is Sorcery, witchcraft, pharmakia. Mind-altering drugs, often used in conjunction with other sins.
Drunkenness and witchcraft are the sins. The stores that make bank off the propensity of this debauchery are the enablers of these vices, and so, Doug is partly correct. However, both pain killers and liquor have valid, and in the case of wine, even sacred uses. Doug glossed this over.

Come back home to the Catholic Church and you will never run out of things to complain about. Also the Catholic Church gave you the Bible you quote so often…
Calvin - the original sly dog teacher.
Take a look at Jean Cauvin's (John Calvin's real name) response to the execution of Servetus. Then take a look at his notion of "Consistories".
By that logic, Jesus was the original sly dog teacher.
John 6
"Jesus answered them, “Do not grumble among yourselves. No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day." . . . ."When many of his disciples heard it, they said, “This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?” But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples were grumbling about this, said to them, “Do you take offense at this? Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. But there are some of you who do not believe.” (For Jesus knew from the beginning who those were who did not believe, and who it was who would betray him.) And he said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father.”
After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him. So Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.” Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve? And yet one of you is a devil.” He spoke of Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, for he, one of the twelve, was going to betray him."

Doug, you loose me at "our nation". It is not "my nation" so I eschew the possessive. I am a stranger in a strange land and am like what Peter says of Lot: "...and saved righteous Lot, distressed with the abandoned conversation of the godless, (for the righteous man through seeing and hearing, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul day after day with their lawless works,) the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of trial, and to keep the unjust to the day of judgment to be punished...". The point being, there was no chance of redemption for Sodom. Sodom was going to be destroyed but only after Lot (and whoever would join him) were gone from Sodom. This world (modern day Sodom) is under judgment and it will be destroyed. My objective is to leave Sodom with as many as the Holy Spirit convinces to join us believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Your response shows more practical wisdom than the message of the podcast. You get it. Repent, do the things so as to best lead your family into righteousness, and don't be afraid to pay any cost for the sake of the Master, whether family, worldly possessions, comforts, or even peace and the taking up of arms. America the Great has fallen, rejecting the Word of God as King over her, which is the same as rejecting Y'eshua or the Father Himself. Expect consequences.
Afraid not. We are to be citizens, and good ones, of our earthly nations. Our ultimate loyalty is to the king of kings and His kingdom which has authority over all earthly kingdoms.
@@mkshffr4936, we aught to obey God rather than men as the apostles well said when asked not to preach in the Name of Jesus. We must be will to go to prison and death for that. We recognize earthly power and authority as any stranger in a strange land. "These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of [them], and embraced [them], and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth." "We lose down here". That's not Doug's worldview. Stick around for a while.
@@philipmurray9796 , I have been watching Doug for a few years. Doug wants to Christianize the world system. I maintain that that is not possible. The system is under judgment and merely awaits the execution of that judgment. Our responsibility is to preach repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 20:21) to people whom the Holy Spirit grants repentance and thereby escape the wrath to come. (1 Th 1:10). Christ, at His return, will not reform this world system. The plan is to obliterate it. (Rev 19:11-21).
