COMPONENTS - As discussed, there are tons of components, and they don't give you good ways to organize these, especially the huge number of cards and enemy standees... so you'll have to figure out your own storage solution!

I just bagged each item up together. The Masquerades large/small into one medium bag, the Rage large/small into one medium bag, all specific wander items in their box, then separated the other cards into groups of small bags. All of that fits fine in the short flat box they came in. I also have a plastic storage like you showed for the tokens and I can even fit that on top so everything still fits in the core box it came in. Still, can’t wait to get the actual storage solutions haha

The labor of love associated with this game is part of why I dig it so much. They effectively stopped, started over and re-designed this thing from what they had during the KS. The story mode helps and I think they will support and tweak this more with time so that more folks get the chance to experience it. This and Deep Madness are just two centerpieces in my collection.

I ordered this game way back. I really wanted it back then. And I think it will be great.
Ok everyone’s con is what I love in games
    Large epic narratives.

Oh then I think you will indeed love it! I mostly love it, and only the long play time is holding me back. But that's because my time is so limited in general with the channel. 😅

I am playing this solo with two characters. I keep it on my table for days and take turns when I have time. Scenarios take me several hours. I keep playing because I enjoy the mechanics, which are good but not great, and the writing and narrative are a 9-10/10 for me, the best I’ve seen in a board game. I love reading the passages and play horror background audio. I doubt I’ll find anyone to play multiplayer, up for a campaign of full day game sessions.
There's a Story Mode that might be quicker, but I haven't tried it and I want the full experience.

Story mode is maybe quicker. You spend less time fighting enemies, so you get to do story encounters more often. So you MIGHT get to 40 ending points a round earlier, which would probably save you an hour. But I don't think it makes the game drastically shorter.

I just started it, love it although it is really long and not easy to table with kids around.
There is a lot of text and sometimes I need to translate some parts considering that English is not my native language...

Nice video and thanks. I backed this almost 5 years ago and recently got it, but have not played. Byron from Diemension Games is a gifted writer and no one has said anything but amazing things about DOM’s narrative. Actually, like you, they say it’s among the best ever in board games.
That said, the game length is off-putting, but they recently released a “Story Mode” for the game that emphasizes the narrative elements while decreasing the ridiculous upkeep and complexity, and game-time, which is where I plan to start.
To reveal my bias, I love dark, heavily-themed games like Eldritch Horror, AH2, Oathsworn, Machina Arcana, etc. so please factor that in. Also, even when I backed in 2019, my intent was to play this solo or with 1 other. It’s not a game for 4 players at the same time IMHO

I certainly enjoyed playing with the story mode more personally. Get to the good stuff :)

Hello! I completely understand the aspects and what is a pro and a con. For me the only con is the worst insert i ever have seen. I love the mechanics, the story, the epicness.
Specially i understand, why people have problems with such a long game time. I am in the lucky situation, that i can leave the game on the table and continue the next day.
One information: in one update (i believe its the one, where they introduced the story mode), diemension games hints that they work on a save system. So the long game time will be less problematic....
Greetings from germany (and sorry for my bad english, i understand better than i write :D )

Thanks for sharing. Unfortunately, I simply don’t have time considering the game length and replaying. When would I play my other dozens of games?

Have you played the story mode? Does that address your complaint with the game?

    • @OneStopCoopShop

Yup, that’s how I played in the video I posted. It is definitely my preferred way to play, but it doesn’t make the game that much shorter

I bought them at art supply stores like Michaels and AC Moore. But it was always hit or miss whether I would find them there.

If this came out 2-3 years ago I would have been all over it but I have so many great long narrative driven games at this point I don't have time or room for this. I mean theres no way id pick to play this over isofarian Guard. Maybe if I can get a used copy Uber cheap. I think I'll just watch Bairnts playthrough for this one

Oh, for my tastes I would absolutely rather play this than IG. But I've heard so much about grinding and grinding and more grinding in Isofarian that I've stayed far away :)

@@OneStopCoopShop first of all I think it was a bit overstated even ib the original game because you have to traverse the map anyway so you were basically able to get components while following the main story anyway. Plus once you upgraded a certain building you could simply pay for what you needed which pretty much eliminated the grind. But the updated stuff definitely mitigates the grind by not only giving options to traverse faster, but also by gaining renown in towns by completing quests you can literally reduce materials needed to craft items by half. I can't believe you haven't played it definitely one of the most unique and just fun experiences I've had in gaming. Combat is a blast and the bag building never gets old.

@erikpeters7072 hm, maybe I should reach out to them for the updated version. Damn you, my backlog is already long!!! 😜

@@OneStopCoopShop Knowing your taste in games I think you'd enjoy it. I had it on my table for well over a month. It's Game that's great just to play anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours each night just because you can always make progress (search for components by defeating enemies or visiting mining locations, do a side quest, do a caravan quest, attempt a bounty, do a puzzle quest for a new ability or upgrade etc) only reason it came off the table is I found out about the update pack and I knew I wanted to start again with all the updates
