- Brett seems to have a real hatred for the man on the buzzer. I'll let you decide if she really wants to get him based on some of these questions. Also included is a bonus zinger from Betty White.

Other than maybe Hollywood Squares, this show works as both a game show and a situation comedy. Anyone who is depressed or sad or recuperating from an illness needs to watch marathons of this show. Guaranteed to make you laugh.
They were all mostly bombed at the time.

This is the only show I know of where the people in the control room will actively screw with the panelists.
And the panelists will screw with the control room.
there's a British show called QI. The point of the show is the control room screwing with the panelists.

Maybe its just me, but, i enjoy watching the vintage Match Game much more than 95+% of current tv shows. Brett & Charles have such chemistry it just makes watching this so much fun. The Match Game and What's My Line panelists and hosts made the shows well worth watching.

I don't watch any current TV EXCEPT all those "Got Talent" Shows on You Tube. I watch my old favorites over and over, Lucy, Dick Van Dyke, All In The Family, Maude, Hazel, Bewitched, etc. I watched the 70s Match Game when it originally aired, I was in Junior High and would rush home to make toast with butter and jelly and orange juice and watch MG at 3:30pm est in NYC. I even remember the theme song to the 60s version of Match Game, Swingin Safari. I was born in 1961.

Not alone I watch the classic game shows over current TV. Match game is among those I watch frequently

One instance, they used the TPIR deep toned losing horn as a response to Brett.
That second one, when he starts buzzing before she can show her card -- I'd never seen that before and it's **damn** funny.

I know it's almost been a year but I thought I'd throw in 'The Hollywood Squares'. A very funny games show right next to 'Match Game'
It depends what you like. If you like fun, It's Match Game. If you like mart game play in Jeopardy! or The Pyramid.
As entertainment, perhaps. As a game show, hardly.

@@Lava1964 If you like to lose because a lame panelist would rather be funny than help the contestants win money, then it's the Match Game. Have you ever noticed that seat one, four and six would have some of the worst panelist ever? If I were a contestant and I saw Orson Bean, Gary Burghof, Dick Martin, Patty Duestch, or Marcia Wallace in the panelist seats , I would probably just get up and leave. As far as Brett Sommers, she was wrong much more than right and Christ , I would hate to have to pay for all the damn cards that she used to write her answers.

And the last clip? Priceless! I can only imagine how the buzzer guy reacted as the question was read AND after he got home from work that day.

I was about 8 when this was on daytime TV. I thought it was pretty funny back then. Now I understand some of the answers! LOL

I was actually surprised that it seems "worse" on the ones that Alec Baldwin hosts now. Because I don't recall there was swearing or riska answers allowed in the Gene one but the Alec one did. Yes there was that time Gene said nipples when he meant dimples introducing a female contestant. Still..
