Would definitely use on heavy dumbell press work on a home gym kicking up heavy dumbbell really puts lot of unnecessary stress on shoulders

Well. I have pair of Powerblock u90s and besides I have never dropped a set of weights because they may have been too heavy, I mean, one way or the other, those babies are going to go down lightly and gently as possible under my own control.
