    Today I switched to Optus' 5G home internet, and I'm absolutely blown away by its performance. With download speeds of 800 Mbps and upload speeds of 80 Mbps in peak hours, it's a massive improvement over my previous NBN connection. Goodbye, NBN!

Your comment, your very poor way of looking at things and understanding says it all. Btw I am convinced people can live at least 5 times the average lifespan of a typical human while staying looking young.

      lol, try doing something that requires a consistent internet connection. Like try using the maps and keep making the phone reroute and your Optus will shit its pants. You can’t rely on Optus with a person on a ventilator and needs an internet connection at all the time.

    I have Same 5G but have issues with its non performance regarding air printer and my Apple TV . It won’t connect to these two devices and I can’t watch Apple TV or air print. . It’s useless. Tried everything but it won’t pair. It works on my TV , IPad and IPhone only , might have to dich it as it’s not performing as expected. The speeds are phenomenal and happy with that side of things

  • @rogerkant3696
    @rogerkant3696 Месяц назад

    I did this for about 1 year and the main issue is that of data limits. 5G is fine from a speed perspective but the issue is that you need to have large data allowances rather than the unlimited data allowances from most NBN plans. Have since moved back to the NBN.

    Look at those ping times. Although my 5G home router gets 700mb down & 70 up, my ping is 34mS. It sounds daft but if you're playing a fast paced game like GT7 or CoD, you will notice slight differences with lower ping.

    Thanks so much Aldo, I've just been blindly sticking with my ISP of 15+ years Westnet (now iinet) and only recently thought to check whether the apartment I moved into six months ago has 5G coverage and it does. I thought I was pretty lucky having NBN fibre to the curb (as opposed to the node), but your review has convinced me to give 5G a go, especially since Telstra is offering a one month free trial. My current NBN speeds are nowhere close to the speeds I'm getting which I realise could be due to a lot of factors, but being able to place my modem pretty much where I want is a very attractive proposition. That Optus modem looks better than Telstra's but given Optus' recent data breach I'm a little leery about going with them. Thank you again for a great informative and helpful review.

If mobile is down, fiber is up, is fiber is down mobile will work. Very rarely will both be out of service

If you want maximum speeds and say you got the 500mbps on your GIGABIT ISP, but you only get 300mbps on average, you should connect to a switch, and back to a router/modem/mesh.
