I had a Cal Sci screen on one of my bikes. It was effective and excellent quality. I’ve followed their cleaning instructions for years with good results on all my windscreens. Those guys know their stuff.
I was also surprised at how much worse the GTL is in regard to wind management as compared to the LT. Night and day. I bought a Z-Technik tall for my LT and it worked pretty well until it cracked around three of the mounting holes just out of warranty, a little more than 4 years old. I spoke with them and they said to send pictures and they would consider a warranty adjustment. Well, sent the pictures and never heard from them and further emails were ignored. Not a big National Cycle fan now I must admit. I haven’t tried a Cal Sci windshield, but it sounds like they are one to try. The main reason I chose National was that they use polycarbonate rather than acrylic. I will have to check and see what material Cal Sci uses.
@@kirksmotorrad The issue is that acrylic is FAR less impact resistant and that is a fairly important parameter for a motorcycle windshield. Yes, it is cheap and less prone to cracking, but a good size rock off a dump truck will go right through it. Polycarbonate will handle a baseball bat.
@@kirksmotorrad Well, I hit a turkey once, or should say it hit me, and my LT windshield flexed like crazy, but deflected the bird. I really doubt an acrylic windshield would have done that. Made a believer out of me.
Thanks for the recommendation. The ride looked great btw. I liked my 99 LT windshield better than my current GTL standard windshield. My wife rides with me and she isn't as well protected on the gtl.
Another thought. Wondering about rider comfort. Wind and buffeting has been an issue with my rider. Realt the only reason I'm looking into a different wind screen. Btw thanx for the video.
Off topic..my son's infotainment screen stays on long after he shuts it off on his 2019 K1600 b..any suggestions?..other than that do u have oil consumption on ur K1600?..is this typical?.. Best Regards Tom

They are acrylic but it is easier to repair and a bit more clear. Not as scratch resistant though.

@@LTVoyager God willing, I will encounter neither a large rock or a baseball bat!

I didn't see 4 different windshields? FWIW, the stock screen on my 2014 GT Sport is fantastic.
The one picture had two windshields. It was comparing the standard and tall Ztechnik

There is probably a setting that will help shut it off and yes oil consumption is pretty normal until they break in. Usually after 80k or so.
@@kirksmotorrad WOW!! I lose a quart about every 2500 mi. I thought it was junk. This is normal? You serious?
@@kirksmotorrad my son and I just had a good laugh at the 80k remark 😂..thanks again for responding sir..👍
@@burnerjack01 yep!
My 2014 GT Sport uses an insignificant amount of oil. 6,000 miles since the change and I can't see any drop.
Wondering about the vent hole in the middle of the windshield. Seems like it would be a target for bugs. Any thoughts.
@stevedurig9768 my GoldWing had a similar vent in the screen and never caused us any issues. My K16GT Sport doesn't have a vent.
