The track of Hurricane Dorian

- Animation of the track of Hurricane Dorian as it began life in the Central Atlantic, developed into a tiny tropical storm near the Lesser Antilles, and became a hurricane near the US Virgin Islands. Dorian became one of the strongest hurricanes in the Atlantic with winds of 185mph when it made landfall in the Bahamas, before running up the east coast of the United States and slamming into Nova Scotia shortly after turning post-tropical.

The fact that Dorian was at stage 10 on the CSPS for over a day or close to it should tell how strong the storm was.
While not the worst for Florida or landfall in America. Its definitely one of the strongest Atlantic hurricanes ever
Mythra IKR! He's a historic one and will not be forgotten on the Bahamas for decades to come.
AlexDoesStuff YT Respectfully, your wrong. Wilma is the strongest Atlantic hurricane ever.
Nenes Albino By sustained wind speeds, but not by barometric pressure which shows how intense a storm is. Allen at his peak had 899 mb, Wilma had 882!!!!. Meaning Wilma was more intense and thus stronger in the Atlantic.
Nenes Albino Here's the proof: www.google.com/amp/s/weather.com/amp/storms/hurricane/news/2014-04-07-strongest-hurricanes-most-intense-atlantic-hurricanes-20130911.html
So basically Allen was very powerful your right about that, but not Wilma level powerful!

@Abdelazeez can dab Alright This is boring ? North carolina wouldve gotten way worse if it werent for the bahamas.

Hurricane Dorian stood still in Bahamas, that’s what caused the devastating damage you see. Imagine if it stood still in Florida, we would have been destroyed/annihilated
I wonder if in the 2019 What-Might-Have-Been Season later this year if the track of Dorian would have taken it into Florida after the passage through the Bahamas.
It would of rammed itself into Florida likely stronger than Hurricane Allen due to deep warm waters between Florida and the Bahamas. We could of potentially seen a Hurricane Patricia type strength slam into Palm Beach.
@@Astervius maybe it will be erin because what if that invest in the gulf Barry then hurricane chantal the tropical storm dorian then major hurricane erin
No because the subtropical ridge would push her in to the gulf to super buff her then it would aim for Louisiana or texas that would be Hurricane Harvey ×10

I live in Nova Scotia, and although Dorian was only a Cat 1 by the time it reached us, it still packed a big punch...... To this day I can't believe that Dorian hit the Bahamas, and every single inch of the Eastern Seaboard of North America on it's travels. The saddest part of it all was the death, and destruction it caused in the Bahamas as it essentially sat still for over 48 hours. NO WONDER THEY SUFFERED CATASTROPHIC DAMAGES!!
when it had TS conditions in new jersey, it didn’t look like much from this map, but in real life it was BAD, power outages, trees fallen over, 50mph gusts, heavy rain, flooding, storm surge, huge waves, etc.
Lol i left new jersey from vacation just like a few days before it hit

Bahamas: Ok so I now know that it will be a *long* time before the next system comes
Dorian: Did somebody call for some 10/10 devastation?
I was at the Freeport beach in The Bahamas with my mom, brother, and grandma when Hurricane Dorian hit. Sadly my grandma died. Later me, my brother, and mom all got injured. My mom and brother both had hurt their knees while I had broken my arm. Dorian made me never wanna go back to The Bahamas as me, my brother and my mom just barely escaped. And I truly think that no one deserves to be in a hurricane or a tropical storm.
Dorian had the 10th lowest pressure ever recorded in an Atlantic Hurricane: 910 millibars.
it also strengthened very quickly, going from a Tropical Storm to a Cat. 5 in about 69 hours.
BirdPower14 Either way, Dorian reached historic heights in his catastrophic and long life.
It's tied for 11th (with Hurricane Ivan).
and it’s tied with the Cuba Hurricane of 1924
It is also tied with Wilma, 1935 Labor Day Hurricane, and Hurricane Gilbert for the 2nd highest wind speeds recorder in the Atlantic

Dude if Dorian has to us in Florida as strong as it was, many of us would have lost our houses
DaviloX07 _ not as many as the Bahamas tho, Florida has much stricter building codes that help prepare for things like this. The Bahamas are much poorer on average so they didn’t have strict building codes.

We are still getting help from our American friends. from a hospital to food, water and logistics of which we in the Bahamas are so grateful. In fact we have had help from all over the world. It was the most terrifying experience ever, and we are used to storms.
I would be shocked if this storm DOESN'T get retired. There have been storms that should have been retired in the past that didn't. Irene was devastating enough to ensure that one storm from the same season as Irene did not get retired despite being just as catastrophic.
Same thing happened in 2008, hurricane Hanna caused more deaths than Ike and Gustav combined but wasn't retired
Irene was retired it was replaced with Irma which itself was retired.
Hurricane Karl in 2010 did 4 billion USD worth of damage in Veracruz, Mexico (my hometown!) and its name wasn't retired, but Igor and Tomas DID get retired, although both of their damages combined didn't even get close to Karl's. 2010 was the year of absolutely retarded name retirements
Also, in 2010 Hurricane Alex did >1 billion in northern Mexico, and its name wasn't retired either
and don’t forget Gordon of 1994, which killed over 1,400 people yet the name was never retired.

A really weird but unique and destructive storm; when it was threatening Puerto Rico, it changed direction. When it threatened Florida, it changed towards the East Coast. Honestly, this was ANNOYING, but at the same time, extremely bad and surprising as well; we never thought this will even be a C5 up that North; especially a 185mph one!

This hurricane man.
We were all shitting our pants in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Had to work in a shelter so this hurricane man, just sitting there for days, tickling our titties for so long, flexing over Freeport, and then just nothing. It was a mixture of relief because it truly was a beast of a storm, and disappointment because there's always a morbid curiosity, for me, for these things to happen. It was a record breaking storm, to experience it would have been really scary but awesome in the purest sense of what awesome is.
