Katrina was the third-strongest, second-deadliest and the most destructive hurricane of the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season, and is the costliest storm on record in terms of monetary damages.
Katrina formed near the Bahamas, tracked over Florida as a minimal hurricane, and exploded into a Category 5 over the Gulf of Mexico. Mercifully, Katrina weakened somewhat before reaching Louisiana, but still caused incredible damage.
Katrina killed 1,833, affected around 110,000 buildings, and triggered the evacuation of 1.2 million. At the time, the storm's price tag reached $108 billion.

Typhoon Tip GLADYSRIOS it’s usually never the winds, but rather the rain. Katrina got so much damage done because of New Orleans’ unpreparedness to such flooding. Harvey got so much damage because of how much downpour it gave and how long it stayed basically at a standstill
