I remember many years ago when Celotex introduced the Presidential TL and Ambassador shingles as a competitor to Cal Shake..A couple years later Certainteed bought them out and redesigned the Ambassador and called it Landmark TL..back then the TL stood for Tri Laminate ..Installed hundreds of them…We’d combine 2 ridge glass ridges into 1 ridge to give the ridge a much thicker profile..
Regarding venting, did you close off existing gable vents? I have combination of ridge vent, soffit vents for intake and gable. Almost everything I’ve read recommends closing off gable so that ridge can effect my work with soffits.
You my friend are the only installer on the internet that is a real roofer. But Certainteed Grand Manor is a better roof system. You are a awesome installer/owner like myself. Greetings from the sunshine state. Keep on getting on and be safe
Just curious on the Presidentials, for your last course of shingles at the peak, do you need the ridge to just cover the shingles nail line or does it need to cover the that straight(ish) exposure line?
My roofer is using certainteeds roofing system and he’s select shingle master certified by certainteed. This qualifies us for the 50yr materials 25 yr workmanship warranty with no proration. Costed me 24k in Los Angeles 28 squares. Expensive
Well , Solaris reflect a lot of the heat on the summer and it’s a little bit lighter. Regular presidential TL is a little bit darker and does not reflect the heat . Besides that they have the same thickness
Remember presidential shakes are not the ordinary shingles...the second course below...is tucked under the last course ...so if the water goes thru the exposed seams ...will just run on top of the second course ...plus presidential shakes requires 2 layers of felt...its way more secured than a tile roof sir. Being installing this product for years and till this date i haven't had a single leak since 2002 when I started working on my own. Appreciate the comment . Thanks for watching! Eric Garcia

Only question I have is why double layer of 30lb? I KNOW YOU SAid IT'S A DURABLE SHINGLE. BUT IF YOU KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY INSTALL IT I don't think you need double layer and if I am not mistaken I dont believe manufacturer calls for double layer. .water won't get under the shingles like it might on concrete tiles.
Roof is barely 4/12...manufacturer says to installl over 4/12 only but 2 layers on 4/12 ...TL stands for triple layer ..it means the water as in tiles tends to run backwards on heavy storms. This roof has ice and water shield around the perimeter of the structure. It has 2 layers of felt...manufacturer calls it a lifetime warranty product...tell me as a roofer....would you try to save few bucks on a lifetime product? What about the odd nail? What about mother nature? Really just one layer on something you'll call a lifetime roofing system? Think about it if you live there or i was your roofer. Thanks for watching?

@@servandosegura5496 manufacturer calls life time warranty to any products as long as you own the house...but the tricky part is the products loses lifetime as it ages...so the first 10 years they are fully responsible for the product... In 15 yrs the cover only 75 %...in 30 yrs 50%...until you get to 50 yrs...so for a 50 yrs installation you have to take precautions and play it safe. For example...on a 30yrs roof the minimum requirements are 1 layer of 15 lbs felt...then explain why every one uses 1 layer of 30 lbs? Simple ...why not? 30 lbs is a thicker underlayment and does not rip like 15lbs...felt. Same for tile...the minimum requirements are 1 layer of 30lbs felt...why use 2 layers? 1: simple 2 layers are better than 1 . 2: you care about your customer and your workmanship...when rain comes...you want to enjoy the rain ...not fixing your own water leaks.no thanks.

Thanks for all the tips and knowledge.. it's really helpful for my company I'm starting.. Buen trabajo.👌
You are the best Eric
Eric, would you mind to help me to choose since I have 4 quotes but not sure which ones I have to choose? Tq
what do you think about synthetic felt
What is the purpose of two layers of 30 pound felt it the shingle a heavy shingle. Would you recommend two layers of synthetic underpayment too
What color shingle is that ?
Regarding venting, did you close off existing gable vents?

When u do presidential roof shingles do u use metal metal in The Valley?
Just curious on the Presidentials, for your last course of shingles at the peak, do you need the ridge to just cover the shingles nail line or does it need to cover the that straight(ish) exposure line?

Eric you know everything
Thanks Sal! I really appreciate the comments and your compliment!
Thanks for watching... Be safe Bro!
Eric Garcia.
Not really but I care and read the manufacturer instructions and if I can go a little beyond the instructions to be safe
The heat puts some serious damage from walking around
Looks good.
Thank you for the video you are awesome!
Thank you!!
I like your work everything looks good only thing is the last course before the ridge you went crooked 18:58
We’re going to install presidential, my wife wants to do Solaris charcoal black and I want to do just the charcoal black. Any pros and cons?
Well , Solaris reflect a lot of the heat on the summer and it’s a little bit lighter.
Regular presidential TL is a little bit darker and does not reflect the heat . Besides that they have the same thickness
Do you remove all nails from 1x6 or pound them in?
You remove the ones on the eaves and rakes...and fold the ones on the field...the plywood will flatten down the ones missed.
If you use h clips on that sheathing there is a 1/8” space already
How much was that roof price
I think you forgot a row of shingles at the top below the ridge on minute 16:05 that’s definitely going to leak over time
Remember presidential shakes are not the ordinary shingles...the second course below...is tucked under the last course ...so if the water goes thru the exposed seams ...will just run on top of the second course ...plus presidential shakes requires 2 layers of felt...its way more secured than a tile roof sir.
