I've ran so much in the last 2 weeks, I now have shin splints and waiting to recover. I am proud of the work you have put into being a professional running enthusiast. Excellent work.

I have more than 200 miles on my Pumas DN3, as my daily trainers, in my tempo runs a super awesome shoe! I loved it, I want to get the novablast 5 just to mix things up.
67 daily trainers is no joke. Numbers don't lie! Thanks for putting in the work! Appreciated by hobby joggers everywhere 🙌 Love to see the DN3 in there! I appreciate your definition of a daily trainer: shoes that you can use for any part of your training program. I think there really only needs to be two types of shoes: daily trainers and race-day shoes. I don't really buy into the idea that you need 4-5 pairs of shoes in your rotation. To me, tempo shoes, recovery shoes, long-run shoes, max cushion shoes are not necessary categories. These days I think many, many shoes can be used as daily trainers, meaning that they can cover all those catgories. Of course, everyone is free to buy as many pairs of shoes as they want and put them in as many categories as they want. But I don't understand the type of thinking that says your tempo-run shoes need to be at least an ounce lighter than your daily trainers.
Totally agree, it's mostly marketing. Not to mention, everyone's threshold pace or easy pace is different lol I bought a super cushioned shoe once when I was injured, it kind of worked, but next time I'll just take time off and cycle or row instead.
Last half of the year NB 860v14 has been my main daily trainer. It runs very well at a variety of paces. My only concern is durability. The outsole is wearing much faster than the Saucony shoes -Ride 16 and Triumph 20 - that took most of my volume before the 860 came along.
@@NickNelsonReiners My experience is with the Triumph 20 (same midsole s the T21) and the Ride 16. The current models are the very different Triumph 22 (completely new design and different midsole foam) and the Ride 17, which now has the same midsole foam as the Triumph 20/21. But given the caveat that I'm not comparing 860 with the current Triumph and Ride models, I'd say that the 860 has more structure and cushioning than the Ride 16 (though I still like that shoe too). The 860 is quite different from the Triumph 20 - more structured, dual foam with a plastic plate, and a wider platform that is more stable for heel striking. I think the Triumph is a little more lively to run in, and the 860 is more consistent in feel across a wide range of paces. The main similarity for me is in the use-case. I find both the Triumph 20 and the 860 to have a lot of versatility, from easy runs up to threshold pace. I prefer the 860 at both extremes - I think it's a better recovery run shoe, and I like it better for strides as well, because at faster paces it has a firmness from the dual foam and plastic plate that make it surprisingly responsive and snappy, considering it's sold as a stability shoe.

Purchased the SL2 after watching your vids, got them in Australia for about $100 which is probably my best running shoe coup ever. Lightweight, bouncy, soft but not too soft, feels great when I pick up the pace but just as good when I slow it down. These are great shoes before even factoring in the price. Only thing I'd say is they might be unstable for some given how narrow they are, but no issue for me and I'm an average AF runner.
This is my favorite category. I've taken the Adizero SL2 and the Deviate Nitro 2 on vacation and both were great. I do think a solid outsole is important for that test because you never know what you're going to encounter. I would 💯 use the MiniMag for a one shoe as well. I would describe it exactly the way you described the Ghost Max 2.
I’ve found my shoes are somewhat temperature sensitive. I’ve been rocking some Gel Nimbus in the 15-30 degree runs. That extra cushion helps with everything being stiff plus I m really just stacking miles and not feeling speedwork in that weather. I hardly wore these during Spring-Summer
Tried the gel nimbus once at a shop - immediately realized that they're too soft😅 I've decided for the brooks ghost 16, there's enough comfort and they are speedy a little more than me and I really enjoy them a lot!
Thanks for your insights. How do you have time to do all these miles, run this shoe business, have a job and a family?? I like all of these but wish Puma was wider--I am a female with wider feet post-kids. I couldn't;t buy them after trying them on. *60s and 880s don't have enough cushion under forefoot for a forefoot runner. I will say though i ran in the puma deviate nitro 3 in the snow and the grip was not great compared to the deviate nitro 2 which had better lugs. Any shoe in the low teens to near zero bricks up
I have had a real issue finding a daily trainer partly due to a knee issue that is more of a nuisance than anything but I have narrow feet and max cushion shoes don't always work hence not dally trainers. I am currently using the Pacer V2 for most of my runs. I am trying the Adidas SL 2 but I do not like the high drop. The Pacer is probably the highest I can stand and it does not seem to bother me. I actually ripped out the insole on the SL2 and put in an old insert from a pair of Rebel 2 with some padded mole skin under the arch. I am going to try them again. I am thinking that the Balos could be a daily trainer. I have done longer runs and short runs and picked up the pace during runs and the shoe did ok. I changed out the insole for one less thick so I could take advantage of the midsole foam which is good stuff. The Rebel V3 was a good daily trainer and if the V4 were not so wide in the arch area it would be good for that as well though not as cushioned. I may try the 860 since your review of it seemed to hit all the areas I have to consider. This was a good review.
Novablast 4 would have been the perfect shoe if Asics made it with the more substantial outsole. I want to be able to run on roads and trails and not to think about sharp rocks cutting through the foam. Having said that, SL2 and VN3 are just great all-rounders. Happy holidays to all fellow hobby joggers. 🎄
Novablast 5 with a better tread would be the perfect shoe. The TR is coming hoping it’s basically that. I only fell once in the novablast it was totally dark and on a dirt incline I’d never ran. The leaked pics of the nb5 look like they removed the heel loop and did ugly color ways, but I have hope.
I agree. I bought the Ghost Max 2 and returned it. Ugly heavy clunky boot. Good cushion but slow, heavy, overheats, and clunky. Ghost Max 1 was lighter and faster but still an ugly boot.
@@yusuftv-f4rI actually like Ghost Max in terms of design. They look like casual shoes to me in comparison because I’m planning to use them as casual walking shoes. That is why I ordered one pair of first variation because it is on sale. I didn’t receive them yet.

What should I buy to complement the Novablast 4? I’m looking for something suitable for daily training but also for races. Maybe the Adidas SL2, or do you recommend something else?
I currently am deciding whether to buy hoka mach 6 or adidas sl 2 as I need a daily trailer that can be used for training for 800m and 1600m and also can be used in those races. Which one do you think I should get.
unpopular view, max stack is dead its about sub marathon stacks with energy return. physios/coach's are finding more runners with issues since max stack has become a regular trainer
@supwell I initially thought of buying adidas supernova ended up buying sketchers, surprised by the softness of cushion and feel less awkward on the foot. Super comfy.
It depends what you use the speed 2’s for ? IMO the Boston 12’s are better as they are more versatile……but if you only use the Speed 2’s for speed then they win.
My SL2’s cushion are dead after 100km. Was really disappointed since I was enjoying the bounce and nimbleness of a daily trainer. I’m a heavy runner, 100kg+ so maybe my weight is a big factor on the cushion, so I won’t recommend this to heavy runners.
tried on those sl2's in the shop twice now both times I took them off without even bothering jogging over to the wall. I don't know what you guys are getting so worked up about, "bendy" and "road feel" are not positives in my book.
Hehe came here to say something similar, Canada also using celcius. It just seems logical to me that 0c is the freezing point. Strangely we still using Feets and Farenheits in some situations like pool temperature and size. I think feets make sense because they are basically the lenght of my foot so its easier to estimate
Yeah I knew his joke was going to get some comments. Let’s just say it bricks up when it’s F’N cold. F’N cold is a legit scientific measurement term that is universally recognized.
Surprised to see the Deviate on this list. Here's why: It's in the speed trainer category. You had a certain attitude about this category a couple months ago, preferring to train in top-end race shoes for many workouts. I am looking forward to a best of in that category. I wonder about Brooks plated trainer compared to Magic Speed, this Puma, etc.
That kinda contributed to his point about people having different categories despite using the same names. Just like how, as far as I'm concerned, the 1080 can't be in a daily trainer category because it's way too squishy.
Maybe the real best daily trainer is the friend we made along the way…

Novablast and Puma deviate nitro make the top 5 every year. 👏👏👏
Bruh this one of your shortest ones... Recovery vlog for sure.
Height: 1.88 m (6’2”)
Weight: 94 kg (207 lbs)
Pace: 5-6 min/km (8:03-9:39 min/mile)
PB 5 km: 25 minutes
PB 10 km: 53 minutes
I used the Nike Vomero 16, and now I have the Asics Novablast 4. What should I buy to complement the Novablast 4? I’m looking for something suitable for daily training but also for races. Maybe the Adidas SL2, or do you recommend something else?
Hoka mach x2 or adidas sl2
I currently am deciding whether to buy hoka mach 6 or adidas sl 2 as I need a daily trailer that can be used for training for 800m and 1600m and also can be used in those races. Which one do you think I should get.
Love your videos! Thanks for what you do! Have you tried the Altra carbon Vanish 2 ?
Not yet! Coming soon
@ cool looking forward to it! Just got the endorphin pro 4s thanks your vids. But I’m very curious about the altras! Take care !
I do the same thing! Checking the adidas app everyday in hopes of lucking out on their random $64 Boston 12 sale days to stockpile.
unpopular view, max stack is dead its about sub marathon stacks with energy return. physios/coach's are finding more runners with issues since max stack has become a regular trainer
Try the new Kiprun KD900x v2
Only available in Asia right now
I've bought it and it is super bouncy, soft with non aggresive Carbon Plate.
Hope to see Peg Plus in this
I vote for NB Rebel V4 and On Cloudmonster Hyper be added to the list
Yea the sl2 in this category is the best for me but so is the Hyperion 2
Your thoughts on sketchers go run ride 11?
One of the few that I haven't tried! A few people have told me they enjoy it though
@supwell I initially thought of buying adidas supernova ended up buying sketchers, surprised by the softness of cushion and feel less awkward on the foot. Super comfy.
Are the slugs still out or are they seasonal?+
I think the chickens ate them all 😢 charli said she saw 1 last week though
Yes, NB860 is not too soft but NB1080 is too soft.
Let’s do this dam thing let’s go
💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Are the Boston 12 similar to the endorphin speed 2? I have the speed 2 not sure if it makes sense getting the Boston
It depends what you use the speed 2’s for ?
IMO the Boston 12’s are better as they are more versatile……but if you only use the Speed 2’s for speed then they win.
@nkululekomabaso4273 i use them for speed training and series
No ASICS GT2000 13?
I am not sure if I heard that correctly...and did you hesitate?
I have dn2 and novablast 3
My SL2’s cushion are dead after 100km. Was really disappointed since I was enjoying the bounce and nimbleness of a daily trainer.
I’m a heavy runner, 100kg+ so maybe my weight is a big factor on the cushion, so I won’t recommend this to heavy runners.
@@erestain17 you should go for the Saucony ride 18 or Adidas ultraboost 5, that beaded TPU midsole lasts easily for 600 miles. I'm Heavy runner also

puma nitro3 ?
Magmax got the BBL
Now I wanna see all 67 ranked HAHA (jk nobody has time for that)
You miss the Boston 12 that should be top 3
Well I see why the supwell app price went up…
tried on those sl2's in the shop twice now both times I took them off without even bothering jogging over to the wall. I don't know what you guys are getting so worked up about, "bendy" and "road feel" are not positives in my book.
@17:46 " Negative 2 communist"...Celcius was Swedish. I didn't know Sweden was a a communist country !!!! And Farenheit was Polish by the way......
Hehe came here to say something similar, Canada also using celcius. It just seems logical to me that 0c is the freezing point. Strangely we still using Feets and Farenheits in some situations like pool temperature and size. I think feets make sense because they are basically the lenght of my foot so its easier to estimate
Sweden is a socialist country from the perspective of right wing thinkers.

Yeah I knew his joke was going to get some comments. Let’s just say it bricks up when it’s F’N cold. F’N cold is a legit scientific measurement term that is universally recognized.

Surprised to see the Deviate on this list. Here's why:
It's in the speed trainer category.
Damn you are looking fresh to death

My man said "-2 communist" 😂 I love it. 🇺🇲
I'm truly convinced all daily trainers suck 🤣.
