  • "Dont do it! You will get weird pulses through the paint gun, and a bad job!". Well I put that to the test and tried it! Experiment to see if can link 2 air compressors together and get a half decent DIY spray job on my car.

Here, we run multiple 3hp single phase compressors feeding multiple 300l air tanks, then into a condensor & big moisture trap. We don't have 3ph electricity but need a lot of air. If we need silly amounts of air (sandblasting for example) then we have a big 400l 17hp petrol compressor that also feeds into the same system & we fire that up too. When it isn't running, its tank acts as more storage also at 110psi.
System never blinks for painting vehicles, running hungry air-tools etc etc & there's not a whiff of an issue with the supply as everything feeds into one 3/4 solid line that then goes around several workshops with multiple outlets plumbed in to connect to. Always have loads of air & it works great.

If we just had one compressor trying to keep up alone, it would die very young - which is what we used have. We were also always starving tools of air, spraying was a pita as the compressor was always playing catch-up so we'd have to stop & wait - generally just a pita. Linking several together was a game-changer. They run like mad when first switched on in the morning, but once the whole system is up to pressure, they are at their leisure.

Wow that's one hell of a feedback! Thankyou for the info. I've been hoping to drop on a big tank from a broken compressor etc to do something similar, but then I just think, why am I making life more complicated just save up for a 400l tank an big compressor! 😅. I think the issue people were warning me about was not having any universal receptical, ie 2 seperate pumps in line and the changes as both kick in separately. In reality as the small one never stops running and must have been supplying the bigger tank back through the line/t peice, I actually ended up with something similar to what you describe in your comment. Like you say it seemed to work a treat! Thanks for watching 😊👍

what is the little thing you got from Lidl called? Also do you know if it has a check-valve? reason I ask is that I combined 2 compressors using Y-shape quick-connect thing and it was no good as all that happened was one compressor would keep trying to fill the tank of the one which emptied first instead of both compressors supplying air to the tool

I'm not sure sorry, I just searched for Air Line spliiter on ebay and similar came up 👍. No it didn't have a check valve which tbh made it a PITA for disconnecting one compressor but I didn't see the problem with one motor filling the 2nd tank so long as the pressure was set correctly. They effectively acted as one tank and the 2nd compressor would cut in as soon as needed, actually what I wanted. Best of luck 😊👍

@@PeoplesCar yes after posting that comment I found them online 🤦‍♂There's actually a 4-way which would suit me as I have 4 small compressors but mb safer to start with the double 😄

Whats the part for the 2 port connector?

It's just a simple splitter. This one is just a tapped block but you can get them at T's Y's etc on ebay etc cheaply. 😊👍
