Looks great, we will be installing our whole 1st floor this coming week (well after painting). I am using the same type of Pergo and wasn’t going to use the under flooring if it passed the moisture test, but after hearing that it helps with the sound will also install.
Yes, the Pergo Outlast flooring comes with a thin underlayment attached to it, but we always add additional underlayment (especially when installing on a concrete subfloor like we were). Underlayment provides the necessary stability and support for the floor to float and helps with noise reduction and cushioning. The underlayment that we used also provides moisture protection (which is important on a concrete subfloor) and offers constant air movement to help inhibit mold and bacteria growth.
@MakingManzanita Thanks! M8ne has pre attached underlayment also it is the pergo outlast. So do you think it will be okay to lay down underlayment 1st on wood subfloor as well?
@@tyleroryan You're probably fine to rely on their attached underlayment, but we prefer the extra protection and cushion of an additional layer so we always add our own :)
How did this underlayment work with the Pergo? Any flexing? The Pergo underlayment is so much more expensive, it would be nice to use this one instead. Great video.
Let your floor sit in the room its going to be installed in for 3 days. This helps the wood expand and contract to the temperature you keep your home at.
This was a very helpful tutorial, well done. I'm installing Pergo Outlast+ waterproof laminate flooring and the instructions say to put a round foam caulk saver into the expansion gap, then follow with 100% silicone caulking around the perimeter of the floor. It doesn't look like you did this step. Was your flooring not the "waterproof" version of Pergo Outlast?
If you want the edges of your room waterproofed, follow along with the manufacturer's instructions. We opted out of this step because we weren't worried about waterproofing along the edges of the room.
You can Google the manual from Pergo if you'd like! We also have a blog post that goes with this video for more written description: www.makingmanzanita.com/how-to-install-laminate-flooring-on-concrete/

Yes, it definitely not going to hurt anything to use the underlayment in addition to the Pergo flooring. :) Good luck with your install.
Did your flooring have pre installed underlayment alreadon it?

How has this held up over the past couple of years?
Thanks!
Yep, we've had it installed now for about 3 years and still look great. It has gotten dinged in a couple spots from furniture unfortunately.

We have had no problems and it works just fine.
Thank you so much!!
What is acclimating the floor?

I thought pergo said an underlayment isn't needed because it's already provided on the planks?
Yes I thought I mentioned this... you can use the built in underlayment, but we always double up as an extra safety precaution.
Hey thank you guys so much for making this video! I’m about to head to Home Depot to grab everything right now!
Good luck!!

Debating if installing laminate or LVP. So overwhelming to decide!!!! I have 2 labs and 2 cats.
In general LVP has a longer lifespan (when compared to laminate) and is more expensive, as a result!
after shot of living room?
Hey there! You can check out the finished living room in this video: ruclips.net/video/n_YlSB4W9JA/видео.html
DIY manual available?

This floor says the underlayment isn’t needed: why did you choose to put one down? I’m just curious because I’m about to install it on wood subfloor.
I see the dreaded 1/8 inch gap.
Great vid
