Slain Rookie New York Cop Gets Hero’s Funeral

- A remarkable sight - a sea of blue outside St Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City as police and citizens come together to mourn a fallen cop. The entire city was invited to pay respects to 22-year-old rookie Jason Rivera. No one moved the packed cathedral more than Rivera’s grieving widow, Dominique. The high school sweethearts had married just four months ago. Rivera’s brother Jeffrey also struggled to contain his emotions. Rivera was promoted posthumously to detective first grade.
RIP to the officer and also RIP to those whose lives have been lost due to the rise in crime. Thank your for your service Officer Rivera.

Oh man, 22 years old. Still had so much living, changing, and becoming to do. That's half my age and at 22, I was still so naive of certain things, but still so full of life and wonderment. That man had a lot of living left to do. Barely an adult.

I've lived in NYC all my life and never remember seeing a fallen officer be honored like this. that was a TON of cops, the likes ive never seen before. RIP Officer Rivera

When I lived in NYC, the mayor at the time was Rudy G. I couldn’t stand him but he was super tough on crime. Riding the subways were safe, the streets were cleaner and “quality of life” crimes were reduced! NYC needs to return to that day in putting the fear back in the hearts of criminals!
