I think Christina Aguilera has something on Debbie. The problem with Christina was that she felt she had to strip to compete in the market and lost some respect in the process.
Not taking anything away from Debbie, but Ann Wilson is a far more talented and powerful singer. Ann was probably one of the top ten rock singers in history in that era. Whitney, Arianna and Celine are also better vocalists than Debbie.
@@EricaEchos Meh! not better just different. Blondie was not a band I listened to when they came out but I have grown to like them over time. Ann Wilson is also a great singer. It would be interesting to see what she would have sounded like singing some of the songs those other singers sang with the production they had.
Also the lead singer (ik ik, blanking her name) is an amazing singer

Watching the video Dreaming I came to appreciate their drummer. Man this guy really gives it his all. I love it when he throws his stick up in the air and catches it in his left hand. Cheers to all Blondie fans!
By far the best recorded rendition of this song. The energy of the entire performance is palatable. Her and her bandmates literally have a lightning in a bottle. ⚡️⚡️⚡️
No autotune, no tech gimmicks, just and band kicking ass live with the singer belting it out. None of the female singers now can touch the ones from this era.
right, its not cause you're older now and Blondie is familiar as hell, is all the female singers in the entire world who at the same time lost the ability to rock out, makes sooooooo much sense its def that

Without tearing down any other artists I can say Blondie is some of the best and most influential pop music of my lifetime. She was like a punk rock Marilyn Monroe, with such a good fucking band. My mom introduced me to her as a kid, and I grew up loving Blondie and Debbie Harry. I know this band will influence further generations of music and fashion and badassery.
Looking back from here it's so much easier, and a little pleasing and depressing simultaneously, as nostalgia Is I guess, so much easier to see how awesome Blondie really was, Debbie Harry was just what you hoped she would be, and excellent at it. Man I miss that time, wish I could do it again, maybe without the chemicals this time ! Lol
I was one month out of High School, back in the day. Good days back then, long before all of the insanity of today. What I wouldn't give for a time machine.
Looks like a very old recording. Old VHS or Betamax? No video, then some snow, then the picture arrives. BUT the audio is there from the start, and it’s beyond value, Whoever saved this, then uploaded it. . . No words can express how much appreciated it is. 🖖
Debbie Harry has a Stage presence that applies to very few, Bowie was another, and she never 'Over sings' in the knowledge that her voice delivers live which so few ever manage. Just by standing up front and singing interjected with her unique 'pogo hop step' says it all, no gimmicks, no screens, lasers or flashing lights just pure Star Quality in a modest way that resonates with the audience and devoted fans over decades. As for Clem Burke, given their 'Punk' roots his timing and seamless rolls is the tightness to all their live performances that really sets them above added to the fact that they all play their instruments very well to the point of what the fans heard blasted out from the vinyl grooves is more or less replicated live. Will people still be playing more modern artists in 40 years time, simply answer is No.
Man, her voice is powerful in this performance. She sings with virtually no vibrato to hide any pitch issues and she is spot on. Also... did she REALLY 2:39 lick her shades and toss them into the audience..? Cool.
Debbie Harry my first crush when I was about 9 in the '70s. Blondie made some great music. I love this track Dreaming and I would say Picture This and Pretty Baby are my favourite tracks. Parallel Lines and Eat To The Beat are classic albums.
One of the best bands, top 100 of all time for sure. And here, nice to have a great sound mixer who knows how to keep the vocals out front with the instruments sitting just behind them all with appropriate volume so you hear all of them. The times I've had heard live overbearing drum noise or underwhelming volume on the mics for singing, sheesh.
Awesome that videos like this continue to surface. I’m as big a fan as they come and I’ve never seen this. Appreciate the upload and chance to see one of their earliest performances😎
I really loved them, some just knew how to write music. Elvis had something for every mood, and Blondie sure did that same thing.. Not just rock and roll to get bored with, something new at every turn. Even late material was special and different.
Love this version ...black and white....debbie harry can singing live...how many bands ..singers can do that well ....blondie now and aways...Melanie 33 ❤💋🌈
I'd just like to point out the woman has an amazing voice. I am sick of all the testosterone-impaired comments about her bod. Yeah she's hot. But that voice!
The voice is everything. I agree, she was so unbelievable stunning people forget what a voice she had and what great musicians Blonde are. Clem was one of the best drummers from the Punk era. Their music still sounds great today which is the sign of a great band.
Even though I've long been a Blondie fan, I'd never really considered Harry as having a good voice or being a great singer, but over the past few years (thanks to RUclips) I come to appreciate it. IN this performance her voice isn't as technically "good" (uneven, flat at times) as it is in some performances, but it's good in a different ragged manner and you can't argue with the "radiate" at 3:19. (Also, never heard that solo take by Destri at the end...also ragged but right.)
Poor Debbie Harry...she obviously took all the critics' hateful comments and crawled away to some Soho alley. This is what TS calls "women artists never getting recognition."
Cool archival footage, but actually I think Debbie has having an off-night, or at least an off-number. Her voice is of course great, but she's not using it well as usual, from other footage I've seen. The band is as rockin' as ever. (It's hard to be a singer.)
Michael Lubin performing is always hard for the singers, as their vocal chords get so much use, and every singer has this problem..most that is. Not sure if she ever had vocal training. It always help. But I love her. One of the most influential female singers of the 70s until today at 72. She still rocks. Of course all singers voices change over the years i.e. the timbre, loss of hitting higher notes etc...Don't know if you know who Siouxsie Sioux is but from singing punk and screaming and overuse of her vocals has really damaged her voice but she is an icon, another favourite of mine.
Not Taylor Swift, not Christina Aguilera, not Britney Spears and not even Madonna have anything on Debbie Harry and Blondie! Timeless!!!
Sposo la tua novella!!!

No one has ever come close. Perfect pitch and accuracy. Nuance like vibrator or rasp has no place. Perfect pairing.
Clem Burke bringing it hard. One of the best rock drummers on the planet
Right? For sure...groove city
Keith moon school of rock that Clem originated from
Come on let's just say he is the best! He loves what he is doing with the band and that is why he is so good. Rock on Clem! Cheers!

What a strong voice Debbie has,to cool for words and a shout out to clem whata drummer and still i of course!!!
what a voice!
Clem is the best Drummer to ever live. He deserves 90 percent of the credit for Blondie being huge.
True to that. Hard hitter. Moon/ Bonham school.
He's tied with Neil Peart and John Bonham.
Oh yes. Correct
See boys and girls... real talent.. real sounds.. real singing.
What a time for great music! Blondie, The Cars, The Pretenders, The Clash, Boston, John Cougar, Tom Petty…the list could go on. I miss this …
Debbie is the reason as a young boy I knew I fancied women, thank you Debbie
Clem - drummer extraordinaire
Debbie is a really great singer. So clear. Lovely!

Best thing about RUclips, little gems that are new to me, and just reinforce why I love Blondie ....
Beautiful people beautiful music beautiful times
That band was so great and her singing is flawless.
wow - seen every Blondie recording from 1974 to 2016 and this is the most realistic and indicative of them all
Your right,Even Chris,his guitar was turned up,Sounded wonderful..Clem,always masterclass.Loved this one..
Takes her sunglasses off, licks them, then tosses them into the crowd. Love it! Someone still has those badboys.

Great song but it doesn't sound as good without the harmonies heard on the record.

She is so Glam so rock singer ..she has allure Like a punk Marilyn '
FANTASTIC CONCERT - BUT THIS WAS 1979 - NOT 1969 OR 1959 - WHY THE BLACK AND WHITE ? 1979 BLACK AND WHITE ??
Some people still had black and white TV's back then in the 70's believe it or not.
The punk era used a lot of black and white - it was a sort of 'back to basics'. Check punkgirldiaries - the art of punk
