- I thought this would be a fun repair while we take a pause on the Mini LifeJacket 3, but things were a bit more complicated than I expected! As always, my main goal is just to learn how things work, repairing is just a plus. Let me know what you think of the video!

I just Google this tool and found your video. I have the same exact problem with the Gerber BG that I found in the washer of a laundry Matt. I too thought the locking mechanism was damaged. I can't think of a reason why the loose arm would be designed in that fashion, yet something is telling me that I don't know the secret yet. So I'm off to find the "information slip" that might have come in the box w/it. Thanks for the video. Cheryl G.
Good luck in your search for the info!
I got the same problem. please inform us if you got updates
Unfortunately I couldn't ever get it fixed. It sold on eBay for cheap.
Wow
Thanks for the watch!
My gerber 'clutch' multitool did the same thing.
Yeah definitely could use better engineering
I looked at these as the pliers would be useful and the knife is non locking so UK legal. However I carry Alox Swiss Army knives and this thing looks cheap and crude. Is it made in China? Can the pliers take a bit of punishment?
I wouldn't recommend it, seems to have bad reviews.
For a UK related review. My plier locking mech broke after cracking a few cobnuts. About to approach Gerber for replacement under 25y warrantee, after I could not open it to look at issue myself. Managed to get 4 of 8 screw loose.
Replaced with a slightly smaller Gerber Dime by Gerber/Fiskar foc. But just in the last minute got the last screw loose using blowtorch to loosen the Loctite Gerber uses!
same malfunction
Sorry to hear that but not surprised :(
@@buildsbacktolife8932 applied warranty service 2 years ago, got no response from GB… submitted it again today, to see what will happened next.
@@buildsbacktolife8932 I have another dime, has similar issue, however I fixed by myself recently. Love it used for 8 years already. Don’t even want a new one😂
How did you fix it?
