I wish I had seen this video before I took my surge apart. I definitely crushed one of the washers when tightening the pivot. Had to order more. Great video, I appreciate what you do!
Nice video - my complements to you for your ability to work these tools as you do...the Surge for all practical purposes is brand-new...I like your leather parts holder...it's a neat but practical way to avoid losing such small parts...Good job!
It's a Steelman. Available on Amazon. Beware though, it's not very good in tight spaces. I keep mine in the junk drawer on our main level for the occasional repair. Decent little tool to have handy, but nothing to write home about.
Max, is it possible to replace the Leatherman Signal’s bottle opener with a Victorinox bottle opener? Having the mini flathead-pry tool that comes with the Victorinox version would be more useful.
Love your videos man! Super informative. After a WD40 bath like this, do you ever apply any additional oil, like Tuf-Glide to the arm pivots and plier head moving components?
Loving the video I've bust up the pivots Barrels screws in my surge any idea where you can get replacements from its proving to be a nightmare to get them in the UK 😭😭👍👍any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks a lot for this instructional video ! How badly do you need to abuse a Surge to break off the liner lock ?? WOW PS: The background music is a bit repetitive ☹️
It works. Tap a few times with ball peen hammer. Check. Repeat until it is snug. Use another hammer head and lay it on that as an anvil. Or use an actual anvil. Easy peasy. Sand out dings. Cold forging-centuries old method. Right as rain. If anything goes wrong, which it wouldn't, then replace the head like you did. What you did is fine- great video and all- but I'm more into repairing and restoring than purchasing and replacing.
it happens, there are many reasons why Leatherman may not be able to repair a tool. Or the issue is not significant enough. (also this is based off what the friend told me).

Nope, not me personally

Busted them up how? And can you send them in for warranty?
Chicago screws 5m
I have ACF50 laying around would this be better than WD40?
No idea...would require some research
Acf 50 can leave a tacky residue, it has done on my motorbike anyway.
I'd be more inclined to use gt85 or something.
Interesting details about the reassembly Max. When is the next modding video for the wave coming? 😊
Soon. I just got the bits and the drill press for next phase.
Sweet! I’m looking forward to it 😏
Cowabunga mate.!

@@maxlvledc Have you checked out Kevin MacLeods copyright free music ? All the really big channels seem to use him. I mean EVERYONE.
Why not just peen the first plier head?
A lot can go wrong..but it's definitely doable

Shame on Leatherman!!! I am disappointed in Leatherman.
