dip the matches entirely in hot liquid wax, yes the head too. They will become completely waterproof and will be ignitable. Try it with candle wax. I got 3 layers of wax still ignitable. Greetings from germany.
Coffee swizzle sticks (tiny straws) fit in the frame slots beneath the 4 outer blades. Lots of things can be stored inside with ends crimped and melted to make waterproof
Loved this video! So many good ideas, I hadn’t thought of using heat shrinking tape as a sheath but with a little bit of patience it can be so effective. Thanks for all your work!
Honestly the shrink wrap in the clip is great. I like it because it’s right there for access no need to open anything and flip through to find it. I may use this approach to see if I can shrink wrap the Klecker flashlight stowaway onto the clip 😮💨
Use gorilla tape to adhere things to your clip. You can muti-use and reuse tape and gorilla tape can be an improvised butterfly stitch, be fuel for fire starting and even make things like arrow fletching. A strand of survivor chord instead of hemp line has many more uses too.
In terms of shrink wrapping things to the clip I think a couple of the the Leatherman bits could go on there for easy access or when you don't have the bit sheath.
beeswax is great for muzzleloading lubricant mixed with tallow... I'm working on a 3D printed capper for my muzzleloader I can swap out for the ferro rod in my Rocktol 22 in 1 :D
I keep two matches in my Leatherman Surge. To keep them dry and make them a nice fit in the tool handle, I put them in a length of heat shrink and shrink it. Easy enough to cut it open when you want to use the matches.
@@maxlvledc yes - if you use heat shrink only just larger in diameter than the thickness of the match. If you are not sure - just put a little bit of wax in each end and push it in before shrinking the tube.
Cowabunga dude.! The horizon has widen. As for the extra bees wax, I melt them down and use it as a sealant on my didgeridoo. It gives a good seal & great sounds coming out as you do the circular breathing. Again great segment mate. Greetings from Australia. Well done to the winner.!
Another good way to store the needle and thread is a to use a piece of skinny coffee straw. I don't like to wrap the needle in thread, so I just wrap it around my fingers and use a shorter piece to pull it into the straw with the needle threaded and ready to sew.
@@maxlvledc Perhaps you are right, "We" can hope companies are still good about listening to users and making adjustments. I hope your channel continues to grow and your modifications and unique uses shown.
Hey max. Here's some mods I have done to my multitool. You might find some of these interesting. Also, I made a sheath for tweezers on the pocket clip as well so I could keep the keyring
I am going to try to put a Swiss army pin, pen, toothpick and tweezers on my pocket clip with the shrink tube idea, Pretty much combine my Compact with my Wave.
First thing I did was put a pair of tweezers from a broken Gerber dime in the section under the saw. The tweezers are sprung open in their natural state which keeps them retained even when the saw is in use, and if I need to use the tweezers a quick smack to my palm and they come right out.
Great video, one thing is that the Milwaukee load out backpack in the background?I bought one recently, can u tell me how strong is it I haven't used it yet.
I plan on buying the red Victorinox Swiss card lite. I thought of another way to use it unconventionally: Put a flashlight up to it so it shines red light, thus you don't lose night vision / is a stealthier way to have light at night on a 'tacticool mission'. 😉 I have a Skmei digital watch that I bought off of Amazon for like $15. It has a red light on it. I use it for this very reason: retaining night vision
The heat shrink tube idea rocks. There are giant tube like 2 inches diameter and yo could make a sheath for many tools and knives with it like a snap. If the strength is in concern you could add a couple more layers to it. Much faster than with epoxy soaked cloth or kydex or stuff.
Maxlev . How’s it going bro ? I just got a frost gen wave . Someone passed and it was left behind . It s like brand new though . I figure you are the guy to come to info for a pocket clip .
Cool video. The way that Ferro rod layed down into that gap on the clip got me thinking what if you JB welded or any epoxy that rod into that clip cut out. That way it's secure there and the clip becomes a handle to hold the rod better when actually trying to start a fire. You could still put the heat shrink over just as an added later of protection. That clip is going to catch and scratch on stuff getting out of cars etc. So the heat shrink would reduce any scratches on other surfaces.
Hey i need some help to mod my wave+, i would like to have big scissors on the outside part and a good solid prying tool instead of the small scissors, it will be my first mod and I don't know what replacement parts to buy, can you help me pls?
Try putting a toothpick in with an item inside the while using the heat shrink wrap idea on the pocket clip so that it doesn't completely seal the item inside. So it can be used as a sheath.
You can cut a tinder quick in half longways and insert each half where the pliers fold down. Should get a good 2-3 fires out of it. Can't take credit as it wasn't my idea, saw it on another Wave vid.
You can make fix n wax with beens wax and coconut oil you can even add some essential oils to it for smell , melt that into a tin with waxed paper , plug wounds lube knifes and joints Rub into libs or cracked hands food aafe too so good for a knife you plan to cut food with
@14:50 And now I've got a toothpick in my multi-tool THAT ACTUALLY WORKS AS A TOOTHPICK without needing to have a Michael Spinks-sized gap between my teeth! Suck on that, Victorinox!😜
A bobby pin !! It would be excellent as a emergency handcuff key in dire survival situation if one gets caught by bad guys. One must atleast try. It is also used to open locks if you know how to do it.
hm...blocking the clip hole with the fishing hook or paperclip just to have to use the pocket clip to get it out seems a bit odd. Why should i carry a clip on its own around ? just as a tool to get another tool out of my multitool ? makes no sense
Ah. I should have explained, in episode 2 we removed the lanyard ring that was built into the wave. This gives me 2 slots to attach the clip not just one. One of them for the tweezer the other for the clip
Мало вариантов дополнительного инструмента, давай всё что можно поместить в мультитул. На АлиЭкспресс нашёл 7 инструментов которые вставляются в отверстие для кольца или клипсы. И несколько клипс- инструментов.
@@maxlvledc sweet, going to order that, pocket clip related mods are interesting because it can apply to so much as well. Knives, the side of a Carabiner, money clips.

Been catching up on some of your videos. Adding items to the clip with shrink tubing is a really good one.
Make the beeswax into bars using a silicone soap mold and get it into a size you can hold it in your hand and use it for leather conditioning etc.

I like the match idea. I would use aluminum foil instead because then it gives you something else you could use. Like an igniter for a battery.
Shrink tubing you say? I pride myself on the contents of my leatherman pouch.. I will definitely use the shrink tube method. Thanks!
