- The Link Ledger may not quite topple the bolt-rig in terms of overall fish-catching power, but it is a beautiful, minimal and accessible way for any angler to go after the chub of their dreams! In this film, old friend of Drennan and all-rounder Mark Boyd takes us on one of his perfect mornings and expands on his favourite way of fishing. Despite having fished in many places in the U.K. and abroad, he always comes back to those local Chevins, whatever the size!

This must be one of the best fishing videos I've ever found on youtube. The atmosphere is amazing and the love for a simple, old school method so nice to find these days in media.
Wonderful production and my favourite fishing style. Great watch!
We definitely need some more from this guy, very immersive character and a brilliant video too.
We agree!
Why thank you!

Absolutely stunning 👏🎣🐟
Drennan make the best videos, I love them!
Thank you! 😊
My idea of angling heaven. Great film.
Beautiful B-roll, you can really see the dedication that goes into the craft to capture some of these shots 👏
Glad you enjoyed it!
Small backwaters and tributaries, they're like gold in winter!
Personally I’ve never fished this way. But I would do it anytime just by the way this video was made!
I respect and appreciate you guys for how you still keep that high interest into pleasure of the passion above sport, and the quality of a quiet fishing session above the quality of any fishing gear! Thank you! And you deserve any view, like, subscribe and client of any product!👏
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great film and my way of chub fishing to. So many are missing out on great winter sport by camping in one swim when they should be keeping on the move.
Totally agree
Great video, love winter chub fishing too. My last trip was for chub after so long, loved it.
Lovely frosty morning after chub,it dosnt get any better, and a decent angler speaking sense.
May I say i watch a lot of fishing videos! This is one of the best, great camera work atmospheres. The comontator is fantastic. Only someone who has fished this way can understand his thoughts. I agree with every word. Thank you ever so much for the effort spent with this video insperational. This video is 11/10. Best regards, m
Thanks Mark.
👍🏻👍🏻
I love the frosty early morning footage. Clearly an artist behind the camera lens and a lovely short film.
Fantastic video ! Really refreshing to hear someone who has originality coursing through his presentation & veins!
I’m sure we will convince him to take us out again 😊
Brilliant chilling video .Nice one, could watch things like this for hours 👍

Superb !! True essence of small stream winter chubbing . Well done to all involved 👍👏👏
Thanks a lot 😊
High quality video production💯
Plenty more to come!

Love watching these type of videos and Mark clearly demonstrates the joys of fishing we can all enjoy.
Glad you enjoyed it
Perfect timing, I just got home from doing exactly this on my local dorset stour.. best get the kettle on 👌
You didn't say if you caught!
Jammy get

Well, you can't grumble with that!
Never fished The Stour, The Lee & Thames are my rivers. One day though The Throop is on the cards!
@@paullinwood5089 good angling!
Very well produced. Great character
A simple and lovely way to fish. Nice video.
Glad you enjoyed it! 👍🏻
Lovely film…Well done 👏❤️🎣
great vid mate
Really enjoyed that vid. Thank you
A wonderful film presentation, great information, well done to all at Drennan, super kit as well, what's not to like? 😁
Beautiful Video
An outstanding video. More please!
Great video and a nice guy too. 🐟
Fantastic video! A beautiful place that is skillfully captured by the videographer. A relaxed angler that pinpoints the important stuff in fishing when everything seems to be about new and flashy stuff.
Thank you for this one! Looking forward to more
Great video, one of the best I have seen recently
I done something similar like this on a small river. Put 3 SSG shots spread up my line using a 14mm halibut pellet as bait. Cast in the strong current then 5 minutes later I hooked onto my PB barbel. Definitely gonna give this another go. Great video
Lovely video and a lovely way to catch chub.
Love watching the video. Mark please make more content. Also could you advise on what mainline you are using in this?
Nice fish! Well done 👍
"All from the shore".. picture on the back of a boat.. lol. Great video
Hooked from the shore in this case, but boat was required to chase after and land this one. Mark ended up in the water at one point 👍🏻😂
Hey James, well spotted. Kester, a local guy spotted me swimming out to stay in touch with this one! Without him I wouldn't have landed it!
Enjoyed this video a lot. This is exactly my kind of fishing, indeed I'm just having a cup of tea before venturing out to do a spot of Chub fish8ng. Can you expand on what rod/quivertip you were using please? I have a bit of a lifelong obsession looking for the perfect chub rod!
Hi Russell, I switched between Drennan Specialist Avon/Quiver and a shorter 8ft Greys Toreon Tactical Quiver Tip Rod for the tiny streams. Both rods 1.25tc with 1.5oz tip sections.
@@markboyd8696 hi thanks for that. Never heard of the Greys, that one passed me by!
Ignore small streams at your peril!
Xlnt stuff! Thank you
Great video really enjoyed that! In this type of fishing your bait is searching for a chub is it worth casting slightly upstream and letting the current bring it back down if that makes sense?
Yep. Keep a softly tight bow in the line… and maybe a hold the line with the forefinger of your rod holding hand for extra detection.
Cracking film. What rod is he using?
I was using a Greys Toreon Tactical Quiver and a Drennan Specialist 1.25lb tc with 1.5 oz tip.
@Mark Boyd Lovely stuff, thank you Mark. 👌
What rod was he using? Looked really small and had a lot of action to it.
What rod is he using?
Anyone know the name of this music?
No need for the gripper stops and swivels for the link ledger - just tie a sliding stop knot straight on the mainline and attach your split shot to that !
yep, there are a few different ways of doing it as Mark explains. Attaching of a smaller feeder benefits probably with a swivel and 1-2ft gap between stops to have a more direct like to the fish.
Agreed. I also do that, unless I'm on a small cage feeder, then I like the line to pass through.
Plus when it's -8 degrees William, I'm attempting to keep knot tying to a minimum.... Brrrrrrrrrrr!
Chub on.
promo sm 😏
I think there has to be an element of realisim in this video. All good and well making the video look all primitive, and having a country feel. A chub of 4 and 5lb is very good, it's not small as you stated. Yes there are much bigger chub being caught these days. Less of the big headedness and more realisim to your audience.
What are you banging on about lol
